And he did it with the most derogatory angry expression on his face.

I don't want to be kind. The things I would like to do to most of the Tory party are not 'kind'.

I might even scowl at them a bit...

PreseaCombatir · 19/12/2018 16:57

I’m glad it’s clear, and you now understand what my point is.
I also think attempting to put words in other people’s mouths and creating straw men arguments must be what you do to make yourself feel superior, but there we go.

CritEqual · 19/12/2018 16:58

Ok then why is that impossiblecat?? I'm really happy to listen.

PerverseConverse · 19/12/2018 16:59

Corbyn and labour are such a disappointment. They have lost so many female voters over this last year.

DioVelazquez · 19/12/2018 16:59

Whereas Alison the lip reader has no political axe to grind whatsoever

Okay, so the lip readers that say he said woman are politically neutral, but those that say he said people are not.

What a coincidence!

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 16:59

Helmet I have never said that they are as bad as each other, just pointed out that not supporting one does not mean automatic support for the other.

I am used to this mindset as I have a family member who is making their way up the ranks of Momentum. They will not say the word 'Tory' without adding 'cunt' to the end of it and automatically assume that if you are not with them then you are against them and must be a Tory.

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 17:00

Dio I merely read her tweets.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 17:01

Austerity, dead people, asset stripping schools, dead people, less social care, dead people, rising infant mortality rates, losing the NHS, dead people, Brexit and the resultant increase in the extreme politics and racism, did I mention dead people?

MrSlant · 19/12/2018 17:01

Stand back, for once I am an expert in something! I am deaf and I AM a lipreader and have been consulting with my community of lip-readers over on FB, we've probably got several centuries of expertise behind us in this matter. All but one are 100% it was 'woman' and they can explain exactly why but I don't want to copy someone's comments on to here without them knowing. There was one person who didn't think it was woman, she said (to paraphrase) that Labour would be the saviours of the deaf community and anyone with eyes in their head could tell he didn't say stupid. So that clears that up.

As to why, IMHO, stupid woman is worse, it's because woman is said with as much venom as the word stupid, which you don't get when people say stupid man.

DioVelazquez · 19/12/2018 17:02

I also think attempting to put words in other people’s mouths

I'm not putting any words in your mouth! You literally added my opinion (although ironically enough you did embellish it somewhat) to the end of a list of other opinions you disagree with in one long sentence.

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 17:02

Perverse this is sadly so true and I am one of them. Their obsession with identity politics is destroying the party and so many Bromentum misogynists have been let loose on female members.

onefootinthegrave · 19/12/2018 17:02

starcrossedseahorse

What do you think displays more misogyny?

A woman fronting up a political party whose cuts have the worst impact on other women and their children? Whose cuts mean that thousands of other women have to choose between heating and eating, and being reliant on violent men

or

a man who refers to said woman as a 'stupid woman' (when she has absolutely behaved, 30 seconds before, as a stupid woman)

Theresa May fucking hates other women. Grassroots women, single mothers, disabled women, immigrant women, women who aren't career women. Because every single tory austerity policy affects us, leaves us in poverty and ensures we're more vulnerable to rape and violence.

So I still say you've missed the point, so have so many who are frothing at JC's supposedly sexist (but incredibly accurate) comment but don't do the same frothing at Theresa May's policies that are pushing even more women into destitution and poverty.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2018 17:02

This was my post. Um I’m not some deluded leftie. Grin

*I dislike corbyn immensely but cmon, who are fucking us up now?
Clue: it’s not corbyn

I too will struggle to vote next time around. I think corbyn is crap but this incident- unlike all the others- is really not ringing my crap-o-meter at all.

DioVelazquez · 19/12/2018 17:02

Dio I merely read her tweets.

Oh sorry, I thought your last comment about her obviously having political bias was in response to me calling you out for saying what he said is clear even though the experts can't even agree that it's clear.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 19/12/2018 17:03

Oh I am certain he said “woman” . I don’t like him and can easily believe this of him. I just cannot got excited about it when the country is in s h a mess,

TeeJay1970 · 19/12/2018 17:03

Saying women are stupid is sexist.
Saying stupid women in relation to 1 woman isn't.

I meet no end of stupid people: men, women, young, old.

He's a stupid man for saying this in parliament in front of all of those cameras.

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 17:07

So I still say you've missed the point, so have so many who are frothing at JC's supposedly sexist (but incredibly accurate) comment but don't do the same frothing at Theresa May's policies that are pushing even more women into destitution and poverty

So, another person basically saying that if we complain about Corbyn then we must be pro May. Really?

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 17:08

Also interesting how posters are ignoring MrSlant!

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 17:09

Saying women are stupid is sexist.
Saying stupid women in relation to 1 woman isn't

In the context of today's events I disagree with you.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 17:09

Thought we didn't need the opinions of lip readers?

onefootinthegrave · 19/12/2018 17:09

you haven't answered - what's more misogynistic? JC calling her a stupid woman, or her policies that affect thousands of women?

CritEqual · 19/12/2018 17:12

impossiblecat yes I'm also not a fan of dead people either, and the absolute economic catastrophe a far left government would wreak on our economy doesn't bear thinking about, and in my belief would cause more. Now you can either think I'm a rich tory myself (I'm not!), or that maybe we have the same gut reaction to tragedy but that we believe different things.

I'm also willing to admit maybe my belief is incorrect. Maybe you're right and Corbyn would be the best thing for our country. Both my gut gut and current understanding of economics says otherwise, but I am more than willing to bend should either of those things change.

Now my child is getting a little older I'm going to be looking to starting to get back into some volunteer work, as you are right there ARE a lot of vulnerable people. I've done volunteering in the past, and I'm not convinced a vote for either labour or the tories necessarily gets us out of this mess either.

I don't think you're stupid, I respect the views you hold even though they may differ to mine, but can we at least agree neither of us want to see bad things happen to people?

helzapoppin2 · 19/12/2018 17:12

I’ve now googled misogyny that often, I can at last spell it!

TeeJay1970 · 19/12/2018 17:13

Last weekend mt nextdoor neighbour poured boiling water over her car windscreen to clear the ice
You can guess the rest.

Stuipd man.
