At first I was delighted to see thisat last a big name in women's sport is speaking up! but then I got angry all over again that this utterly obvious point has to be explained to an adult, in this case, a Guardian journalist. It boggles the mind.

I can still see Alison’s tweet.

Jo Maugham’s tweet, on the other hand, seems have disappeared. Perhaps after more people replied, asking how he could square his stance on supporting transwomen on all women’s shortlist’s with not supporting them to enter women’s sports, he decided to delete the tweet. (Or I’ve just not looked properly for it!)

arranbubonicplague · 22/12/2018 19:28

Just looked an Maugham's comment is still there:

Ah my mistake! Thanks, I clearly didn’t look properly for it

andyoldlabour · 22/12/2018 20:56

@hackmum

The Guardian and Indepenedent have very much changed over the past few years and have banned me from posting - about these matters - please draw your own conclusions.

NotBadConsidering · 22/12/2018 21:10

Someone should tag Sean Ingle into the Twitter discussion then (I’m not on Twitter). He wrote an article the other day about this sort of thing, I’m sure he will be interested to hear that Navratilova is being bullied into “re-education”.

InkyGrail · 22/12/2018 21:43

You don't actually even need a dummy account for Twitter to see tweets from someone who has blocked you. Just log out. I don't have a Twitter account but frequently go on there to read tweets.

Italiangreyhound · 22/12/2018 22:32

Martina Navratilova makes lots of sense, I am sorry there are attempts to silence her.

DandelionsAreNotLions · 23/12/2018 02:44

AspieAndProud

Cox isn’t just a physicist. A lot of his tv work has been on natural history so he’s fine with commenting on things outside his specialist field. Plus his podcast The Infinite Monkey Cage has covered all kinds of topics and he has a wide range of guests. The only reason I can see for him not to comment is that he has been told not to.

Cox thinks Gia gets enough hate as it is and thinks if he speaks out the bastards will target her even more.
Hopefully will change his mind as there is a little more "safety in numbers" emerging.

DandelionsAreNotLions · 23/12/2018 03:07

Pressed post too soon.

"Cox thinks ....etc" was third hand message and some time ago. Maybe its just contractual now.

MnerXX · 23/12/2018 06:57

#istandwithmartina a truly awesome woman. RM is probably incredibly jealous.

brizzledrizzle · 23/12/2018 07:15

Go Martina. I think I have a new hero.

I mean for the gods' sake, cis men can lactate. Cis men can get breast cancer. Cis women can get prostate cancer. And all this before you factor in trans people even existing.

Do women have prostrates Confused

Do women have prostates?

Careful how you go there. Dr Christian no less proudly produced Skene's Glands as a gotcha slap you down I am so clever and you are an ignoramus proof that women do indeed have prostate glands. Hmm

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 08:59

Some of those responses...I'm not sure that Katie talking about Katie's penis with a photo of Katie as an avatar will have quite the persuasive impact that Katie intended.

Justin Hancock , in BISH training for schools refers to Skene's glands as the prostate

Justin Hancock is friend and co-collaberates with Meg-John Barker (Edward Lord's partner) producing sex and relationship podcasts.

extract
"For one, like I point out in this article, sex is a very complicated idea. It’s not just about our chromosomes (a lot of people don’t know what theirs are, XX, XY, XXY … ) but also; which hormones kick in, when they kick in and how they kick in; and then how genitals may take shape. Our genitals are on a spectrum in terms of: how much erectile tissue sticks out (clitorises and dicks and inbetween); where the prostate is; where the wee hole is; whether the gonads are inside or outside; vagina size. Many people are in the middle of this spectrum with how their bodies are configured.

Also sex, like gender, is not just about biology but is also to do with how we feel about ourselves and what society tells us about ourselves – it’s biopsychosocial."

ABitCrapper · 23/12/2018 09:35

Oh that article has given me the rage!

Why the fuck do we need to encourage children to "have a gender identity" at all?!

So you're a sensitive emotional boy? Great.
You're a tough, takes no shit girl? Great.
Want to wear dresses? Fine, but dress appropriately for the weather and occasion.
Teenagers don't need encouraged to be MORE navel gazing or MORE questioning of their identity FFS!

ChewyLouie · 23/12/2018 09:37

BISH funded by Durex.
Who, in education is allowing these morons to be anywhere our kids. A genitalia spectrum to match the jelly baby spectrum to match the desires of men to do as they please to women and children.
The gender ideology is a perverts charter, nothing less.

sackrifice · 23/12/2018 09:38

And trans women get periods now. Apparently.

bellinisurge · 23/12/2018 09:43

Where does the period blood and uterine material come from?

ChewyLouie · 23/12/2018 09:45

No they don’t get periods. They’re not female. They will never be biologically female. They will always be biologically male.
In a thousand years anyone exacavating their bones will list their skeleton as male. Get over it.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 09:56

"I'm a lady because of my lady mood swigs, which totally justify my lady rages during which I make my coworkers miserable."

Poppyred85 · 23/12/2018 09:56

Women do not have a prostate. Skein’s glands do not function in any way the same as a prostate because women (the actual cunty ones) do not produce semen. This is more of men naming bits of women’s bodies after themselves and now other men appropriating those same bits to explain how men who think they’re women and actual women are the same. And no, transwomen don’t get periods. Aside from the fact that any women will tell you the crucial bit of a period is the bleeding part, mood changes are due to fluctuations in hormones through a cycle where as transwomen take the same dose of oestrogen daily.

teawamutu · 23/12/2018 09:58

I saw a thread on Reddit where a TW did a Rachel Mackinnon on some poor woman who queried TW periods, insisting that the hormones created all the symptoms of a menstrual cycle except the blood which wasn't the most important bit anyway so periods, yeah?

Hmm
BoreOfWhabylon · 23/12/2018 09:59

Sounds like nothing a good fart wouldn't sort out.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 10:00

One would think the most important part of a menstrual cycle would be the fact that during some parts of it you can get pregnant. So trans women experience that part during week...

Oh. Oops.
