" Big businesses helped kill the Texas bathroom bill two years ago, targeting it as discriminatory and unnecessary.

They said the legislation, which would have required Texans to use the restrooms that match their sex at birth, would have hampered efforts to woo new companies to the state and turned off convention planners and sports leagues looking at venues for events.

Now, some companies are doubling down on that commitment, citing diversity and inclusivity as factors in their decisions. Apple made this clear Thursday, when it announced a $1 billion investment in the capital city.

The bathroom bill, or something like it, may be back when state lawmakers meet in 2019. But opponents of these restroom regulations say the business community will again give them the ammunition they need to shoot down such divisive legislation.

I have an important need to completely ignore derailing irrelevance from men who think women have to respond to their bollocks.

So, Apple.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:19

Not our problem. If they're happy in the men's that's between them and men. If they want a third space, I'll happily support their campaign.

The question wasn't hard.

If transwomen have to share toilets with men, it logically follows that hairy, bearded transmen would be sent back to the women's toilets. Are you content with this?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 18:19

Why can't you just accept them in your toilets famous
Why can't transwomen use the men's.

No trans woman in the UK has been murdered in a toilet. So you can stare at the wall behind the urinals in the quiet you insist there is

Qcng · 14/12/2018 18:22

Which is why we need a universally applied third "unisex" space for everyone who is happy to use unisex and Transgender ppl. This is something feminists have suggested for a long while.

Obviously most women will feel odd about a bearded testosterone-ridden transman entering their space but you would assume a woman passing as male would not wish to inflict that discomfort on women.

Under the equality act there is an exemption that a ftm transperson can be legally excluded from women's spaces due to their "perceived maleness".

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 14/12/2018 18:22

No it doesn't.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:23

I have absolutely no problem with transwomen using the same toilets as me, but they're asking to use the women's. Why can't you accept them, hypocrite?

On the contrary, transwomen are the victims of high levels of violence from men, far moreso than biological women. Good to see they have your sympathy.

Qcng · 14/12/2018 18:24

Female to male transpeople are housed in the women's estate as it is.
Female to male transpeople pose no risk to women so this is not an issue.

Qcng · 14/12/2018 18:24

^ prisons

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 18:25

Women tend to lass better as men than men do as women.

Plus women are not equivalent threat to men that men are to women.

So transmen in the men's would not cause the fear or threat to men.

Transwomen in the other hand mostly don't pass and woukd he extremely triggering to many women.

Were always said a third space was the way to go and I'll campaign with them.on that.

It's the transwomen vocal though to intrude on the women's spaces

EverardDigby · 14/12/2018 18:25

Hi PJ - do you have any comments on the link I posted indicating mixed sex changing is more dangerous for women and girls?

"Yes, I do.

It's not."

There's no arguing with stupid. Did you actually read the article outlining the research?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 18:27

No they really don't. That's just bull shit made to guilt people into caving

In fact channel 4 pulled this appear and released an article that shown that actually in the uk trans was the safest status.

There have been leaks than ten deaths in the UK in the last decade. 2 Women a week however are murdered

terryleather · 14/12/2018 18:27

Oh look prick o' clock has come early this weekend, no need to wait until midnight for us lucky souls on FWR.

I wonder what Germaine Bunbury likes to have for breakfast...

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 14/12/2018 18:28

Women's space and non-women's / mixed space. Perfectly logical, maintains our protections and doesn't assume anyone's gender.

Qcng · 14/12/2018 18:30

Ultimately it's about women's spaces, so logically these spaces should exclude anyone with male physiology, and females who have doped up on T to make them physically stronger and who appear male.

With exemptions. Transmen should not and are not housed with male prisoners. Transmen should be allowed into some limited women's spaces but should be excluded from some if they pass as male or perform (sport) as male.
Transwomen should be excluded by default.

Qcng · 14/12/2018 18:33

On the contrary, transwomen are the victims of high levels of violence from men, far moreso than biological women

This is hyperbole, propaganda and completely untrue (unless you're discussing sex workers in third world countries who all, make female or trans have a high mortality rate at the hands of men).

AlecTrevelyan006 · 14/12/2018 18:34

On the contrary, transwomen are the victims of high levels of violence from men, far moreso than biological women. Good to see they have your sympathy.

Thing is PJ, that isn't true and even if it was, to be perfectly frank, it's not a problem for women to sort out. The privacy and safety of women should not compromised (any further than it already is) because of the actions of men.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:41

No it doesn't.

Yes it does. You said you support the idea of "women's spaces," which means you also support the idea of "men's spaces." (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here and assuming your principles and attitudes are consistent for both genders; it would be ridiculous if you only supported the idea of "spaces" for one gender.) If you believe transwomen are invading women's spaces, it logically follows that transmen are an invasion of men's spaces. This is called "logic" and "reasoning."

But please don't reply back saying that I got it wrong, and you only support spaces and special treatment for women and no one else. I don't think your comments would ever become that silly.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:43

Women's space and non-women's / mixed space. Perfectly logical, maintains our protections and doesn't assume anyone's gender.

Had to reply to this one because it made me cringe.

"Women's space" and "non-women's space"? So in society, are we going to start defining everything according to a female-centric standard? But don't you lot complain when things are defined according to a male-centric standard? You know, the idea that men are "the norm" and women are "something else"?

Was your comment serious, or was it satire?

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:44

The privacy and safety of women should not compromised (any further than it already is) because of the actions of men.

I agree, which is why I want to protect women by allowing them to use the women's toilets and not force them to use the men's toilets.

Bowlofbabelfish · 14/12/2018 18:49

I agree, which is why I want to protect women by allowing them to use the women's toilets and not force them to use the men's toilets.

Women already can use the women’s toilets.

You’re not implying humans can actually change sex are you, PJ?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 18:49

It's simple yes.

If you dangle. Or have dangled. Use the men's.

Problem solved

Oliversmumsarmy · 14/12/2018 18:51

*This is a top down movement. It’s aimed at total removal of women’s ability to be private, to congregate and even to speak.

Actually, it's just regarding toilets, which are just for urination, menstruation, and defecation, and have absolutely nothing to do with congregating or speaking*

You obviously have never used an all female toilet with your female friends. Chatting is what we do in toilets.

So taking away our privacy to chat to our friends is a huge ask.

I wonder what would happen if women actually used the unisex toilets like we use the female toilets.

I think there would be a lot of men who would get annoyed for having to queue.

Men have far more maturity than this; we don't complain about seeing vaginas in our changing rooms because we aren't oversized children

I think someone needs a lesson in biology

Needmoresleep · 14/12/2018 18:53

Famous PJ, are you an Apple PR person? If so you are convincing me not to buy their products.

I am middle aged and slightly overweight. I do not want to share a changing room with someone who looks physically like a man. I would feel uncomfortable. I know I am not the only one. If Apple wish to deny me access to single sex toilets/changing facilities so be it. They are more powerful than me, and money talks. However I do not need their PR people lecturing me on what I feel comfortable with and what not.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:55

In fact channel 4 pulled this appear and released an article that shown that actually in the uk trans was the safest status.

There have been leaks than ten deaths in the UK in the last decade. 2 Women a week however are murdered

... Can you do mathematics?

There's roughly 32 million women in the UK. 2 women a week is 104 a year, or 1040 a decade.

1040 out of 30 million is 0.00325% of women.

Assuming 1 in 500 people are transgender, and roughly 65 million people in the UK, then there are 130,000 transgender people in the UK.

Assuming half of those are transwomen (this may not be correct, but for the sake of argument) then there are 75,000 transwomen in the UK.

10 out of 75,000 is 0.01333%

0.01333% is a lot bigger than 0.00325%

Your own numbers suggest that the murder rate for transwomen is far higher than that for biological women. It's really not a good idea to use statistics that undermine your own argument, is it?

CAAKE · 14/12/2018 18:56

So in society, are we going to start defining everything according to a female-centric standard?

Well after a couple of millennia of "male-centred standards" we could certainly give it a red hot go and see what happens.
