" Big businesses helped kill the Texas bathroom bill two years ago, targeting it as discriminatory and unnecessary.

They said the legislation, which would have required Texans to use the restrooms that match their sex at birth, would have hampered efforts to woo new companies to the state and turned off convention planners and sports leagues looking at venues for events.

Now, some companies are doubling down on that commitment, citing diversity and inclusivity as factors in their decisions. Apple made this clear Thursday, when it announced a $1 billion investment in the capital city.

The bathroom bill, or something like it, may be back when state lawmakers meet in 2019. But opponents of these restroom regulations say the business community will again give them the ammunition they need to shoot down such divisive legislation.

Look, PJ, admit that you know very little about women, not being one, and that you don't therefore
-understand
or
-have any skin in this game.

Your thoughts aren't useful on this matter.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 17:29

It's Mr 'Be safe, have sex in public' again.

As I've already said to you, I never said have sex in public. I said have group sex. Do you genuinely not understand the difference?

Your reading comprehension skills are as dead as a dodo.

DodoPatrol · 14/12/2018 17:33

Hardly. I just find you excessively boring.

LangCleg · 14/12/2018 17:38

Apropos of nothing, the Germane Bunbury Appreciation Society has released a fabulous new app. Kleenex Alert, it's called. Very helpful.

EverardDigby · 14/12/2018 17:38

PJ You've said you aren't gay, but would you have sex with a trans woman with a penis?

HestiaParthenos · 14/12/2018 17:44

If men had to manage periods or miscarriages, they'd have showers and washing machines in the gents.

If men had to manage periods and miscarriages, they'd be women, and therefore have the same we have.

But of course you are right, if some deity inflicted periods on men tomorrow, they'd probably all insist they're unable to work while they bleed from their genitals.

PJ You've said you aren't gay, but would you have sex with a trans woman with a penis?

Oh, how can you even ask?

I am sure our staunch defender of lovely transwomen is extremely attracted to those fragile, beautiful nymphs.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 17:49

PJ You've said you aren't gay, but would you have sex with a trans woman with a penis?

Yes. (Bizarre question)

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 17:51

But of course you are right, if some deity inflicted periods on men tomorrow, they'd probably all insist they're unable to work while they bleed from their genitals.

There's no evidence for that, and I doubt any employer would be so lenient in terms of letting staff take days off, regardless of whether they are male or female. Writing stuff like this makes you sound very bitter and extreme in your views.

It's utterly absurd that someone on this thread has suggested "throughout history there have been sex segregated toilets and now society is totes so much safer there's no need for it"

Nothing angers me more than someone's total ignorance of either history, biology, psychology or fact.

Selfridges on Oxford Street was one of the first places to install female toilets.
Previously women were very much confined to shopping locally, near their homes to avoid getting caught short. Selfridges also benefited the Suffragettes as, spending a lot of time on the streets campaigning, meant they needed such places not only to use the toilets but also have a cup of tea in a safe and respectable environment

How Selfridges helped the Suffragettes.

Still, let one kind of man into women's private spaces and you're letting them all in. Take my word for it, we do not want that. And will fight to prevent it. You might not understand and that's OK because you don't have to. Just fuck off out of our private spaces!

This is slippery slope nonsense. When I read that, I thought of a raging skinhead chav sitting at his computer typing "if you let one immigrant in, you'll let everyone in."

What happened to the good old British idea of being reasonable and sensible? No one is suggesting we let all men into women's toilets. We are just saying to be reasonable and to allow transgender women (a all number of people) to use toilets peacefully and enjoy the same rights as men and women.

FloralBunting · 14/12/2018 17:57

Could I just ask, without any sense of authority, but just out of curiosity, why the excellent women of FWR are letting the creepy dude piss all over the thread?

LangCleg · 14/12/2018 17:59

They haven't downloaded the app!

Qcng · 14/12/2018 17:59

No, you're not letting all men in.

The decent minded good men wouldn't dream of it.

Who you're letting in is every pervert, predator, camera-phone, filming device, recording device, Porn Hub uploading creep under the sun who wouldn't think twice about saying "but I self-ID as a woman, today" to your face.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:00

It's utterly absurd that someone on this thread has suggested "throughout history there have been sex segregated toilets and now society is totes so much safer there's no need for it"

Actually, the comments were regarding male and female spaces as a whole, not toilets. Desert nomads and bronze age religions have separated men and women for millennia (they're still doing it in Saudi Arabia). "Women's spaces" was never something that women actively thought for. Somewhat laughably, I thought the common narrative was that gender segregation in religion was sexist because it was treating women as 2nd class citizens.

So which one is it? Are gender segregated spaces essential, or is it a symptom of a society that treats women as being inferior? You need to go away and talk about this one among yourselves, and come up with a consistent narrative.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 18:03

Excellent famous

Danielle Muscato is singke I believe perhaos they can join your grouo sessions .

Do you have any idea who and what constitutes a trans woman these days?

Google Nicola Huntley and Karen white then tell us we should he British and reasonable Hmm

Qcng · 14/12/2018 18:05

This thread is about Apple's investments into GN bathrooms.
Feminists have spent generations discussing sex segregated spaces it's literally the main topic of conversation. I suggest you go away and discuss that with yourself....

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:06

Who you're letting in is every pervert, predator, camera-phone, filming device, recording device, Porn Hub uploading creep under the sun who wouldn't think twice about saying "but I self-ID as a woman, today" to your face.

Oh, that's your concern? You know women can use recording devices too, right? It's a good idea to check for recording devices regardless of who else uses the toilet; I always have a quick glance around to make sure some weirdo hasn't put their phone under the cubicle, and I'm a man.

Bubonicpanic · 14/12/2018 18:07

This one is a right muppet.

ClosdesMouches · 14/12/2018 18:10

I don't often use AS but it's been very useful with this one.

FloralBunting · 14/12/2018 18:12

So, how about the influential and moneyed tech companies investing in removing single sex spaces, huh? Pretty interesting topic.

EverardDigby · 14/12/2018 18:13

Hi PJ - do you have any comments on the link I posted indicating mixed sex changing is more dangerous for women and girls?

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:14

By the way, I have an important question for all women in this thread.

Would you be comfortable with a muscular, bearded transgender man (think buck angel) using the same toilets as you?

If yes, then what's to stop a biological man from pretending to be a transgender man? How would this one be enforced?

If no, then what toilets should a transgender man use? If you're proposing they use the men's toilets, then the woman's toilets is effectively a woman's only space, whereas the other toilets are basically "men and everyone else." Feminists couldn't support this kind of different treatment of men and women, for reasons which I hope are obvious.

FamousPJ · 14/12/2018 18:15

Hi PJ - do you have any comments on the link I posted indicating mixed sex changing is more dangerous for women and girls?

Yes, I do.

It's not.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 14/12/2018 18:16

what toilets should a transgender man use?

Not our problem. If they're happy in the men's that's between them and men. If they want a third space, I'll happily support their campaign.
