" Big businesses helped kill the Texas bathroom bill two years ago, targeting it as discriminatory and unnecessary.

They said the legislation, which would have required Texans to use the restrooms that match their sex at birth, would have hampered efforts to woo new companies to the state and turned off convention planners and sports leagues looking at venues for events.

Now, some companies are doubling down on that commitment, citing diversity and inclusivity as factors in their decisions. Apple made this clear Thursday, when it announced a $1 billion investment in the capital city.

The bathroom bill, or something like it, may be back when state lawmakers meet in 2019. But opponents of these restroom regulations say the business community will again give them the ammunition they need to shoot down such divisive legislation.

sits in the back of the classroom covering his pages with detailed drawings of alien attacks on the planet. Plus women with great big boobs tied up to something.

🤣

Plus women with great big boobs tied up to something

Tied up to each other most likely!

Bowlofbabelfish · 15/12/2018 20:46

Apparently he thought that grabbing a woman by the "skull" (not sure why he didn't say "head" like a normal person)

That’s porn. Skull fucking is the delightful term for what is essentially violent oral rape.

What a charmer.

Bubonicpanic · 15/12/2018 23:13

You are actually making me feel sick that I responded to him now.

HestiaParthenos · 15/12/2018 23:17

Eh, well, my guess was good then. Porn is the theory, serial killing the practice.

Bubonicpanic · 15/12/2018 23:25

Sadly I read his contribution on another thread.

He was explaining how fab prostitution was because he had paid a woman who apparantly had a pair of shoes she had bought for £700. He didn't mention whether there was a pension scheme she could contribute to, nor the likely state of mind a woman gets into where her self worth is defined by being able to get off a mattress and go to a shop and get rid of the vile notes by laundering them though a stupidly expensive shoe shop into an object as pointless as her occupation, did he?

Just to clarify something, way upthread the Kleenex super-user made a bogus claim that statistics show that in the UK transwomen are far more likely to be murdered than women.

Like just about everything else they wrote, it is very dishonest. Their calculation uses the total number of transwomen murdered in the UK and compares it with the number of women murdered in the UK by their partners or ex-partners, rather than the total number of women murdered in the UK. It's an apples and oranges comparison.

Ereshkigal · 16/12/2018 14:30

The numbers he used for the trans population were pulled out of his behind too, as I pointed out.

Ereshkigal · 16/12/2018 14:34

I see this often done with the US figures even by gender critical people though. The amount of women killed in the US per year is around 3k. The figure often used to make the comparison is the amount of women killed by male partners which is 1600.

R0wantrees · 16/12/2018 14:51

Breakdown of the circumstances of those who have murdered transwomen in the UK here:

thenightsky · 30/12/2018 21:06

Rowan I may have drunk rather one too many glasses of wine tonight, but a quick skim of that link suggests that not one was murdered for being trans. Maybe, slight link. the Lounde person?

bluescreen · 31/12/2018 01:30

No, thenightsky, from that link:
2016: William Lound (transvestite - no female identity ascribed)
2015: Vanessa Santillan
2012: Chrissie Azzopardi
2011: Lionel/Susie Morl
2010: David/Sonia Burgess
2009: Andrea Waddell
Destiny Lauren
and earlier cases...

Confess that, GC as I am, I was put off by the thrust of the whole article which was to emphasise that trans women were more likely to be killers than killed. Which, statistically, they are. But which should not blind people to their vulnerability: trans people are no more a homogeneous mass than natal women are. And while it doesn't make them our responsibility it should earn them a bit of compassion.

bluescreen · 31/12/2018 01:36

Eh, and of course it should be noted that each one of their killers was male.
