Bunbury’s Public Service Announcement 2

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the first Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3321127-public-service-announcement

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we’ve had several community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

Some helpful links in following posts.

When a poster starts mansplaining how can we tell whether they are male or a transwoman?

I find these repeated attempts to silence women, on a site primarily for women, beyond unacceptable. Why should someone who identifies as a women not respect actual women enough to allow them a voice.

LangCleg · 04/08/2019 23:20

they really believe that this is a good look for them

I honestly think they do.

Same. I’m annoyed they even allow it

Barracker · 05/08/2019 10:34

I'm just placemarking so that I can access this thread quicker from my threads I'm on tab.
Everyone is doing sterling work.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/08/2019 13:54

I'm always interested how often it's clear which sex a poster is without ever seeing them. Not always. But often.

Isn't that just the thing! It's mind blowing!

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/08/2019 20:04

They flood the site with drivel so people lose interest.

Increasingly childish and paper thin drivel too. And when rational argument responds they more or less drum their heels now, it's getting quite pathetic.

Just post round them, there's really no point in engaging. It's a whole lot of Stop Talking To That and Talk To Meeeeeeeee, and I've got a toddler, I handle this shit all day. (The toddler's drivel is just as maddening but at least they're cute with it.)

Doyoumind · 06/08/2019 14:39

I usually lurk rather than post on bunbury but I've arrived back after being mostly away for 24 hours to see a particular thread has jumped very quickly in post numbers in that time. Initially I was surprised but of course was less so on seeing who was participating.

It seems to have been targeted after a fairly quiet weekend.

Threads about lesbian rights often attract frothing

ThatDoctorEM · 06/08/2019 15:12

Oh my Zebras, perfect!

Agreed prawn, the socialization and entitlement just runs so deep.

LangCleg · 06/08/2019 15:51

Just y'know... emphasising. None so blind.

Deliriumoftheendless · 06/08/2019 16:12

I don’t post often but even I have felt the need to say something about the ridiculousness of the Lesbian Protest thread.

I’m shaking my head so much my brain is dizzy!

KatvonHostileExtremist · 07/08/2019 07:54

Give me the wisdom and strength, dear Bunbary, to bite my tongue on threads where the obvious bump is just for division and attention and stirring of the pot. Give me the strength not to do the thing they want.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 07/08/2019 07:56

😂 I know right

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 07/08/2019 08:05

Delirium - that thread is beyond bonkers Confused

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 07/08/2019 08:20

The thing is, I’m not that upset about people very publicly losing their shit over lesbians being clear that they don’t have sexual relationships with males

If people want to be really obvious that making lesbians feel ashamed about their sexual orientation is the hill they want to post endlessly on......let ‘em

barelove · 07/08/2019 09:19

I often think that posting around the derailers is the best way to deal with them - cut off their narcissistic supply. But then I think of the people who are visiting for the first time and think how much they learn from the 'conversation'.

I like how you all seem to pass the baton so there is always an intelligent voice of reason there to respond to the narrow minded, limited thinking arguments that get repeated over and over and over again. I join in when I have time but get left behind by the speed of everyone else's responses and keyboard skills!

zebrasdontwearbras · 07/08/2019 09:35

Yup. I'm still posting stuff on that there thread - trying not to get involved in the tit for tat - but that thread is the most demonstrative thread on lesbian erasure I've ever seen on here. It's eye-opening. The blatant hatred for lesbians calling themselves female homosexuals.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 07/08/2019 09:42

I’ve avoided the thread because I really find it horrible but I commend the women defending lesbians there.

NotBadConsidering · 07/08/2019 09:44

It’s interesting to look at the twitter feeds of people who regularly disrupt threads.

zebrasdontwearbras · 07/08/2019 10:32

Incredible freudian slips are resplendent on that thread now.....

GirlDownUnder · 07/08/2019 12:02

Created cont. thread 3

Been away a week and think this has been the most useful catch up to current goings on thread Biscuit Hmm
