Bunbury’s Public Service Announcement 2

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the first Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3321127-public-service-announcement

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we’ve had several community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

Some helpful links in following posts.

Thanks ZebrasAreBras and I agree, without so many women giving up their time to campaign for women's sex-based rights, the UK would have gone ahead already.

I am involved in the grassroots movement in Scotland where I live and we finally have enough women to leaflet not just at events but to actually do whole streets. It's wonderful and does feel encouraging.

I can't see there's anything remotely like it in Germany and knowing how long it took to reach this level of engagement here in Scotland, I do fear that Germany will go the Scandinavian way and bring in self-id without awareness of the implications or any debate about them.

The anti-vaxxers thread is a new(-ish) approach. By a brand new poster.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 18/07/2019 12:58

Yes, it's really obvious.

littlbrowndog · 18/07/2019 15:23

Oh I never noticed that 🤦‍♀️

JessicaWakefieldSV · 18/07/2019 15:29

It’s also nothing to do with feminism. Not sure why it’s on this board

2BthatUnnoticed · 19/07/2019 15:45

on the Owl thread, at first I thought just very earnest but now I’ve reconsidered.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 19/07/2019 16:38

Having just read the anti vaxxers and the Owl threads, I need a lie down - and yes, there are some very new names evidently provoking to harvest.
But that's nothing new round here,

JessicaWakefieldSV · 19/07/2019 16:39

I just came to mention those threads and the new very extreme member. Don’t think it’s genuine at all. I’ve never heard a single regular authentic member to these boards talk like that.

VickyEadie · 19/07/2019 17:41

I've been away on holiday for a bit and unable to access MN for most of the time. Seems I've missed a few things...

GrinitchSpinach · 19/07/2019 21:39

Recent posts attempting to sow division amongst feminists along the lines of our innate sexual orientations have reminded me that during my recent/ongoing period of personal upheaval (just moving house; nothing bad!) I have neglected to post on the lesbian allies thread. I will go seek it out right now to add a message of solidarity...

KatvonHostileExtremist · 19/07/2019 22:26

Jessica I agree totally.

nauticant · 21/07/2019 16:17

Some posters seem to be very invested in driving a wedge between gender critical groups and Harry the Owl's campaign for police accountability.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 21/07/2019 16:22

Of course they are Wink

LassOfFyvie · 21/07/2019 16:27

I don't normally post on Bunbury but if you are including the poster with a slightly Japanese sounding name with numbers she is, by her own account, a poster from way back in the days of Dittany (who I have to say I'm glad I missed from what I've heard)

The poster I'm referring to has been welcomed back by another long standing poster.

2BthatUnnoticed · 21/07/2019 21:41

What happened to the owl thread? Zapped, without even the deletion note?

Hmm, some of the posts didn’t read as authentic to me, but who knows.

nauticant · 21/07/2019 22:03

A mod said it would be taken down and discussed offline tomorrow. I got the impression it'll be back.

FannyCann · 21/07/2019 22:27

Aww. What spoilsports. The new thread gone puff before the fun had even started.

Manderleyagain · 21/07/2019 22:57

I wondered if it was because there was too much talk about crowd funding.

LangCleg · 21/07/2019 23:02

No: too much talk of cases pending, probably.

2BthatUnnoticed · 21/07/2019 23:16

Thanks all

nauticant · 21/07/2019 23:30

This is the take-down message:

Message from MNHQ: We've temporarily taken this thread down so we can discuss it in the office next week. Once we've done that, we'll update here - please do bear with us. Flowers

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 22/07/2019 08:08

I only got part way through the treacle before it was zapped. Having something of a Pollyanna nature I was heartened by the calm responses.

Most of us ladies can hold more than one opinion at the same time, especially when there is a bigger picture, or principle involved. Who knew?

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/07/2019 08:29

Damn missed it.

I get mightily pissed off with the likes of mr sorry et al as it buries threads that really need to be read and seen.

If anyone hasn't already please watch film in the internalised homophobia one by GNC Ben. I probably should have come up with a better title. I'm trying to remember the thread with all the de transitioned links on it, there's two new films it's worth adding

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/07/2019 08:30

Sorry grammar ropey and pressed send too soon...
