Hope this works. We should all be able to watch the Westminster hall self ID debate today at 9.30 am live.

Not sure if you can go back and watch it later...

Oh, we're going to get to hear a letter from Heather Peto...

WhereAreWeNow · 21/11/2018 10:32

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse she says she's going to read out a letter from Heather Peto....

littlbrowndog · 21/11/2018 10:32

Heather peto letter now to be read out

Datun · 21/11/2018 10:33

Dear God, these women! I'm reluctant to criticise women sometimes, because patriarchy, but fucking hell I've never heard anything so stupid.

Absolute bollocks word salad and whataboutery, no coherent, rational arguments, whatsoever. Not a one.

I can't believe they are MPs. The standard so poor.

And yes, the media is massively ahead of these people. Public opinion is massively ahead of them.

There is absolutely NO refuting that it will be impossible to implement any safeguarding, whatsoever, if self ID happens.

I would just like someone to ask how? HOW? How can you tell?

And what is this about we don't design policy around the few people who might break it? Isn't that the basis for all law? We don't make laws based on people who won't break them!

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/11/2018 10:33

I would assume David Davis has never seen anything like this before, as it's weird.

senua · 21/11/2018 10:33

I've had to stop listening to this because it's making my blood boil.
DTCD is doing a splendid job but perhaps being too polite. He should call out their ignorance - he should have shamed Lib Dem lady for not knowing about Karen White. What right has she got to speak on the matter when she is so woefully uninformed!
Also, the question to the minister was a bit to rhetorical. Should have demanded an answer to how many consultations with TRA and how many with feminists.
But enough carping. He's doing so much more than others.

littlbrowndog · 21/11/2018 10:33

Privileged position of women - we should give it up

AbsintheFriends · 21/11/2018 10:35

These examples of the police not taking sexual assault on trans women seriously? JUST FUCK OFF. Like that doesn't happen to women.

Jesus, I could cry.

Iused2BanOptimist · 21/11/2018 10:36

What about actual women who get groped in clubs? Do they deserve any sympathy.
I'd say that's "living as a woman". Get the full experience. Should feel affirmed.

FlowersAndHerts · 21/11/2018 10:38

Yes, there can't be many women who haven't been groped in a club Sad

FloralCup · 21/11/2018 10:38

Who are the folk at the back of the room? Are they members of the public?

JamieAndPukka · 21/11/2018 10:38

Ha ha ha the lies about the wording in the consultation, men are women, the consultation was easy to respond to. Hmm

Gonzales27 · 21/11/2018 10:39

who is speaking now?

WhereAreWeNow · 21/11/2018 10:41

Victoria Atkins - Minister for Women

JamieAndPukka · 21/11/2018 10:41

Everything this one is saying she means the opposite.

WhereAreWeNow · 21/11/2018 10:41

Thank God at least one person is saying women should be allowed to debate.

KinCat · 21/11/2018 10:41

I'm watching from the begining i.e. not live and it's horrible. The woman in the checked blazer sniggering and making a joke about the lengths men will go to to sexually assault women is disgusting.

WhereAreWeNow · 21/11/2018 10:41

People at the back are members of the public.

MyMPFinallyReplied · 21/11/2018 10:42

I can't watch as at work - is it on catchup later does anyone know?

I wonder why my MP - John Hayes - isn't there? He assured me that he was speaking out publicly against self id. I'm not sure that speaking to a few dozen people in rural Lincolnshire (who are probably GC anyway) is as effective as joining a meeting in Westminster though Angry

Gonzales27 · 21/11/2018 10:43

Thanks where

KinCat · 21/11/2018 10:44

MyMPFinallyReplied the link earlier on the thread does allow you to watch from the begining. Not sure how long the video will remain up.

Iused2BanOptimist · 21/11/2018 10:45

Birth certificates should remain a statement of fact.

JamieAndPukka · 21/11/2018 10:45

Ffs now death certificates show the opposite sex? Shock They can't have hurt feelings post death.Shock

Goldenbuzzer · 21/11/2018 10:45

The best bit has to be the reaction of public sat behind - some classic faces pulled when someone was talking about souls right at the start. - anyone can turn up and watch a Westminster hall debate. I didn’t realise until a few days ago.

Stephanie Davis-Arai is there.
