Do 95% of the Party also disagree with the whole transwomen are women thing & the proposed GRA changes? Because if they do I WISH they'd shout more loudly.
I think 95% of the ordinary, grass roots membership who just pay their subs and, at the most, pop out to do a bit of leafleting during election time, which is the majority of the members, either are as ignorant of the self-ID proposals as the majority of the rest of the country and when it's explained to them think it's ridiculous, or they're aware of issues already and understand concerns. In fairness, though, my perspective might be skewed because of where I live. Perhaps in other areas everyone's extremely keen on TWAW and concerned voices are a minority.
I am sure that the reason most who are concerned aren't speaking up is because they're scared to be labelled transphobic. It does feel like the tide is turning though, and (mostly) aware women in the Party are gaining strength from the few women who've dared question it. The wheels turn slowly though, so motions penned for Councils and CLPs in August/September are still waiting to be discussed in the next two or three months, if not longer. We are trying.
On another note, having just read LM's Twitter, I don't think she's got any comprehension of how serious the allegation she's making are, and, if it was me, I'd be seriously worried about the Party's take on it if people complain. I hope Morgan Horn complains.
