Well I have asked for a copy of their party rules and I will be going through them with a toothcomb.
This was my response;
Hi Tim,
Please can you explain to me why the comments by Lily aren't against policy? She is alleging another member of Labour committed a crime, on a public forum. This has proved to be untrue.
Can you tell me if Miss Madigan has been contacted or warned about her behaviour? I find it deeply disturbing that it is going unchallenged. Just this week she has announced that she is trying to get the chair of her local branch fired for expressing views that she disagrees with (Namely the provision of single sex spaces to support vulnerable women - something which a lot of women like myself agree with). I feel that she is destroying the reputation of the Labour party. I am embarrassed to share a party with someone who behaves so childishly. Dialogue, debate and discussion are key to determining policy that fits all. She is trying to shut down anyone who disagrees with her, mostly women, via the means of public discourse.
Please can you answer the following, which is another example (although theoretical). Imagine Owen Smith accused Yvette Cooper of committing monetary fraud on Facebook, or Twitter. Then someone else admitted the crime, but Owen Smith doubled down on his accusation online. Would this be in breach of Labour policy?
What about if an allegation of abuse or harm was made?
You are right in that I am very disappointed with this answer.
Please can you send me a copy of the party rules so that I can review them.
Also, do you have a contact at the Scottish Executive Committee that I may contact?
Thanks,
