My lovely NDN is in her 80s and was telling me that the consultation was (unofficially) discussed at her W.I meeting last week. Most of the members had no clue about any of it until the discussion.

It really has become ingrained in people that they cannot join dots, come to conclusions, speculate, etc, for fear of getting it wrong or causing offence.

This is why the interview with trans support group and prisons service advisor Jenny-Anne Bishop last night on LBC was so interesting - Bishop does not go for the "No True Trans" defense and makes it clear that White IS trans, but NOT suitable for transfer to the female estate due to the nature of her crimes.

All these "woke" folks are making arguments based on literally nothing, while people like Bishop who've been supporting trans prisoners for years are much clearer on the fact that White is a threat to women no matter how she identifies and should be treated/housed accordingly.

Did I hear right .... justice chap (I'm sorry I didn't get his name) says currently a MTF prisoner who self IDs as a woman could only be placed in a women's prison if they have a GRC? So uuuhhm, if self ID happens this could literally happen all the time??????! Jesus Christ why do they not get it

It is interesting that Richard Garside talks of relying on the evidence of previous convictions and using this to risk-assess.

It is well recognised how difficult it is to prosecute rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse.

The absence of a conviction, doesn't mean a male prisoner isn't a rapist, only that they are not a convicted one.

Richard Garside spoke very well I thought.

"Even though someone identifies as a woman, the prison service can say 'we're sorry, you're going in a man's jail' ."

Richard Garside spoke well regarding women prisoners having been victims of sexual violence and how a male bodied person would be very damaging to be around.

They haven’t yet addressed the problem of violent male rapists all being able to self id as women and demand entry to female prisons. They only have to pretend to be trans.
