Has anyone seen the mass email sent out this evening? They haven’t acknowledged any concerns put to them. All they have stated that there is no risk and they won’t inform parents of transgender members due to data protection laws.

Oh come on @Elephantinacravat 🙄

I don't insist that anyone is exactly the same, no one is. There quite clearly is a debate and I've never denied it.

Would you like to suggest alternative terms to aid our discussion if you don't like "trans"?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:36

Oh wow
Poking around their website
This is the factsheet on gender for Rainbows leaders to use is their rainbows ask

www.girlguiding.org.uk/globalassets/docs-and-resources/programme-and-activities/letstalkaboutgender_rainbow.pdf

"From a very young age children develop a sense of gender. This can be shown through their choice of
clothes, hairstyles or toys that they play with"

YOU FUCKING WHAT?????????? THIS IS THE SHIT THEY ARE TELLING OUT 5 AND 6 YEAR OLD DD?????????

This is worse than I realised.

So their OWN GUIDANCE is to say that girl / boy is nothing to do with male / female and everything to do with how long your hair is and how much you like pink.

THEY CAN GO FUCK THEMSELVES.

I have a guide and a brownie and I cannot for one MINUTE imagine the very down to earth women who lead the groups pressing this REGRESSIVE SEXIST BULLSHIT.

OvaHere · 26/09/2018 12:36

So if transgirls are female then ergo females can be transgirls.

Can my daughter (born female) identify as a transgirl? Can she take up LGBT space identifying as a transgirl? Can she access and take up resources specifically earmarked for transgirls and transwomen? How about special recognition awards - are they up for grabs too?

Or does the trans prefix actually have a grounded in reality meaning?

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 26/09/2018 12:37

AmyRhodes

No information from you yet on how we open dialogue and discuss it when discussion is nbont allowed and being stamped out people have been fired for doing so?
Help me carry out your suggestion, all that is wanted by most is clarification on safeguarding.

Or do you missunderstand the issue because you've not really read the thread and didn't understand the problem until this point?

AmyRhodes · 26/09/2018 12:38

@VickyEadie

Sorry, I didn't answer because I don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️

But let's be honest, it's practical isn't it. If I got changed in the same changing room as my boyfriend I'd be more likely to canoodle with him. It wouldn't turn me or him into a sexual predator though.

titchy · 26/09/2018 12:38

Transwomen or transmen is fine Amy. As long as you don't insist TW are female because they are not - they are male.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:39

For guides they are asked to draw a "stick girl" and put the things that they associate with beign a girl on it.

Then

"For most people, the sex they were assigned at birth based on their physical characteristics matches
their sense of their own gender. However, for a transgender (trans) person the gender they were
assigned at birth does not match their gender identity. So, for example, they may have been assigned
male at birth based on physical characteristics but feel that their inner self is female, or they may
feel that they are neither male nor female.
Based on this knowledge, is there anything that they would like to change on their stick girl, such as
physical characteristics?"

THIS CAN ONLY MEAN DRAW A DICK ON IT????????????????

NoSquirrels · 26/09/2018 12:39

No fucking way, Nothing!!! WTF?

I’ve been telling my DC since they were tiny there are no ‘boys things’ or ‘girls things’ just THINGS. Toys. Clothes. Hairstyles.

FUCK. What are they doing with that shit as an explanation?

titchy · 26/09/2018 12:40
  • If I got changed in the same changing room as my boyfriend I'd be more likely to canoodle with him

What about changing in the same changing room as your father in law? Comfortable with that scenario?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:40

In theory - yes
In practice - no. Because of dick / cunt hierarchy.

Elephantinacravat · 26/09/2018 12:41

Oh come on @Elephantinacravat 🙄

I don't insist that anyone is exactly the same, no one is. There quite clearly is a debate and I've never denied it.

No you 'come on' and answer the question. In the term 'trans women' what does the 'trans' prefix signify? And what is it that makes 'trans women' different from women? Answer the questions.

AmyRhodes · 26/09/2018 12:41

"Laws are based on measurable facts and definitions that stand up in law.

Beliefs can be ‘respected’ (tolerance of religious difference etc) but laws are not based on beliefs."

But @NoSquirrels .... the law states that a person with male genitalia CAN be a woman.

Also, I didn't say "I believe it so it's true." But it is true for me.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 26/09/2018 12:43

Re-enforcement of stereotypes is at the absolute centre of Trans ideology, without boy things and girl things the whole things falls apart.

So of course it's going to be constantly reenforced.

chickendrizzlecake · 26/09/2018 12:43

And you've no faith that the GG clubs that DO have a transgender member (which will still be a minority) will put something in place on a case by case basis? A larger tent? Spreading the adults?

Safeguarding rules are there precisely so that people do not just have to ‘have faith’ that it will just get sorted out if and when it happens.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:43

"And what does being 'equal' have to do with sex segregation anyway?"

This is MTA equality.

Where women should be forced to play rugby against men, work down (non existent in the UK) coal mines (and women and children did anyway) and they can punch us in the face whenever they like because HA YOU ASKED FOR EQUALITY HOW DO YOU LIKE IT NOW??

Sorry shouting am feeling shouty.

Elephantinacravat · 26/09/2018 12:44

See that Rainbows activity plan seems to contradict itself. At the beginning it says that a sense of 'gender' can be signalled with toys, clothes, blah blah bullshit. But then it seems to encourage girls not to just think of those things in terms of girls and boys? Which is good?

AmyRhodes · 26/09/2018 12:44

@stillathing

How about ending all endemic violence regardless of who commits it?

Ostracising an entire group for the terrible acts of a tiny minority - why can't we all agree that is wrong?

WittyName4 · 26/09/2018 12:44

@NoSquirrels that's the crux of this issue; are transwomen women?

I think they are you think they aren't. I doubt either of us are going to change our minds.

It seems society is moving more towards my view and the Girl Guiding change is just one more step towards this. Some see this as progress others see it as political correctness goes mad.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 26/09/2018 12:44

It's why we have stepped back 20 years in terms of stereotyping gender roles, we've all seen kids adverts and shows recently haven't we?

RedToothBrush · 26/09/2018 12:45

There should never be a situation where conversations relating to safeguarding are in anyway restricted. Because that's risking safeguarding.

Also safeguarding is related to trust. Anything that risks trust, undermines trust or tests trust is a threat to safeguarding.

The trans bit of this is a red herring on many levels.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:45

"But @NoSquirrels .... the law states that a person with male genitalia CAN be a woman. "

No

The law states that a person with a GRC (not available under 18) should be TREATED as if they are a woman for most (but not necessarily all) purposes.

Lots of misrepresentations of the law around this GG issue.

NoSquirrels · 26/09/2018 12:46

But @NoSquirrels .... the law states that a person with male genitalia CAN be a woman.

There are a lot of threads that discuss the EA and the GRA and the requirements in law. It’s not quite as simple as you’ve suggested (though may yet become so if self ID goes through).

Also, I didn't say "I believe it so it's true." But it is true for me.

Yes, I’d just like to establish what for you makes a woman. Or a man, conversely. In order for it to be true to you that trans women are women what is it that makes ‘a woman’.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 26/09/2018 12:46

Ostracising an entire group for the terrible acts of a tiny minority - why can't we all agree that is wrong?

We all agree this is wrong, but this is not what happening here.

Elephantinacravat · 26/09/2018 12:46

How about ending all endemic violence regardless of who commits it?

Ah yes we are back to this. Let's just ignore the fact that 98% of sexual offences are committed by men. Don't mean nuffink does it?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:47

"How about ending all endemic violence regardless of who commits it?"

This was the argument FOR putting convicted rapists with functional dicks in the women's prisons.

"Oh there shoudln't be violence in prison that's bad MmmmKay? So let's deal with that anf leave the poor sex offending rapise trasnwomen alone, they have it bad enough already "

Nope fuck that it's a shit argument.

How many women and girls will be abused before "all endemic violence" is obliterated from society? Erm, I'd guess millions, billions?
