Has anyone seen the mass email sent out this evening? They haven’t acknowledged any concerns put to them. All they have stated that there is no risk and they won’t inform parents of transgender members due to data protection laws.

This is where the debate hits a wall.

We disagree. I believe trans women are women, you don't. We won't change each other's minds.

Maybe the 'oh my daughter has no problem sharing with males because we are such a woke family and so tolerant and I haven't taught my daughter to be scared of males' should take a read of wannabes post and think about her Foster daughter and other girls who have been abused and need incredibly strict safeguarding rules. Maybe think about how things perhaps work outside of their own families?

This ISN’T what happen in GG. Read the threads where leaders talk about sleeping arrangements. Adults sleep separately.

GG haven’t defined the safeguarding they’ll offer. They’re selling a fiction that it’s a single-sex organisation. It’s not.

Whether it should or shouldn’t be is largely irrelevant right now - if they want to change away from single sex like this then they need better more transparent safeguarding procedures.

why don't we just mix the sexes, then? Put girls and boys in the same sleeping accommodation, showers, etc? Why not?

Exactly. My son attended a boarding school for a while. They had girls and boys quarters at opposite ends of the site.

Why did they bother to do this? How many parents would continue to pay the fees if they announced all sleeping arrangements were mixed sex?

They'd be bankrupt in a month.

Were the guides given different advice than the Scouts?

The Scouts consulted Mermaids to produce their guidance. I’m not convinced it’s much better, based as it is on ensuring the comfort of the trans child at all times, never mind the other kids being gaslighted eh.

I think you'll find most of the posters on this board also believed that, or something similar to it, at one point not too long ago. Given recent developments we have revised that view.

But as the saying goes, it's easier to change the mind of an intelligent person than it is that if a stupid one.

And you've no faith that the GG clubs that DO have a transgender member (which will still be a minority) will put something in place on a case by case basis? A larger tent? Spreading the adults?

Perhaps opening a dialogue with your local GG club for some assurances or even asking to see the control measurements that go on risk assessments for overnights/changing rooms would be more productive than insisting on an outright ban on transgender people?
