That's a bad person right there, a really bad person. I think that's fair comment.

placemats · 30/08/2018 16:50

Also the arrogance of that article is astounding and breathtaking.

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 16:53

Yes. A thread has been started separately.

FermatsTheorem · 30/08/2018 16:53

It also detracts from the important work of dismantling our patriarchal social structures. Of creating a society in which we are all truly equal, free and empowered to choose how we live our lives – including the right to choose a different gender to the one assigned at birth and to live free from any gender construct imposed by society.

So... if women are oppressed because of the threat of sexual violence, the answer is to get used to more penises in our private spaces, not less, because then... what? Getting used to penis will magically make sexual violence disappear?

Not following this, sorry.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 30/08/2018 16:54

Dear goddess... Shock

thecatfromjapan · 30/08/2018 16:54

Caroline Lucas.

I hope she's proud of herself.

She is still covering for a Party that sheltered a criminal - a criminal who raped and tortured a 10 year old.

She's covering for a Party organisation that failed.

She's deflecting calls for acknowledgment of that as 'transphobia.'

This is DIRTY, FILTHY, CYNICAL politics.

Behind Caroline Lucas' words is a child victim. Those words are to HIDE the crime; hide the victim. And to desperately, cravenly cover for the Green Party's role in this.

It is cynical and disgusting.

And, yes, pitiful.

FermatsTheorem · 30/08/2018 16:55

Yes, ThecatfromJapan - and as I just said, the really, really fucking awful thing is that it will work. No one will ever call her to account in front of her voters, because she and her voters have isolated themselves in a little bubble where the actual facts of the case cannot permeate.

thecatfromjapan · 30/08/2018 17:00

... and meanwhile the Right wing press and the Right wing Parties quietly distance themselves from this train wreck.

UnderHerEye · 30/08/2018 17:04

I don’t know if I’m allowed to Twitter link but Aimee Challenor has been posting pictures of children playing with condoms with jokey little memes on, absolutely inappropriate, and of course zero acknowledgement from the Green Party on this.

FermatsTheorem · 30/08/2018 17:10

Screenshot it, UnderHerEye - the tweets will go pfft as soon as AC's handmaidens (who are monitoring these threads) get back to them on it.

And yes, you can link to twitter, and post screenshots - people frequently do.

TwistedStitch · 30/08/2018 17:10

The other day Julie Bindel tweeted that Caroline Lucas was a coward who goes against her own convictions. Having just read her piece I think that is absolutely spot on. CL is far too intelligent to not understand the legitimate concerns of women, or the reality of biology (see how passionate she is about facts and science when it refers to climate change)- so the only alternative is that she has sold out her beliefs and integrity to appease the TRAs within her party. Utterly pathetic. I hope she is trounced at the next election, I don't even care who by.

SunsetBeetch · 30/08/2018 17:11

I posted a screenshot UnderHerEye

R0wantrees · 30/08/2018 17:13

Caroline Lucas in Guardian today:
"I have faced many calls for immediate action against Aimee – calls that fail to understand the very limited powers I have as a party co-leader and that assume I would be prepared to ditch the fundamental right to due process and a fair hearing. Justice and truth must not be further victims of David Challenor’s crimes and nor must trans people’s rights."

Aimee Challoner Oct 2017 statement to Westminster committee on standards in public life:
"With respect to the Green Party, there is an executive, and a regional committee. We can recall leadership if they are bringing the Party into disrepute. There have been no difficulties with Caroline Lucas or our other Spokespeople."

TwistedStitch · 30/08/2018 17:16

AC is busy deleting tweets.

UnderHerEye · 30/08/2018 17:17

Thanks

FermatsTheorem and SunsetBeech

I honestly think the TRAS are just seeing how much they can get away with.

FermatsTheorem · 30/08/2018 17:18

Who's gonna start thread number 3? Looks like we need another one.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/08/2018 17:18

that fail to understand the very limited powers I have as a party co-leader and that assume I would be prepared to ditch the fundamental right to due process and a fair hearing

Didn't she very swiftly kick some one out of the green party for being "transphobic"

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 17:19

I honestly think the TRAS are just seeing how much they can get away with.

Of course. That is what narcissistic personality disorder thrives on.

Good post, RowanTrees.

Let's be utterly clear:

Caroline Lucas is saying - by word and action - the Green Party have different standards of behaviour and accountability for Trans candidates.

That is what being 'non-Transphobic' means for CL and the GP.

Anyone who believes that ALL candidates should be held to the same standards(based on some daft notion of 'equality') are 'transphobes'.

That is not' a Party you can trust in public life if you have 'old fashioned' notions of equality.

Biologifemini · 30/08/2018 17:37

Caroline Lucas doesn’t acknowledge that males are more violent (statistically) than females. She also doesn’t acknowledge sex based segregation.
DC dressed up as a little girl to carry out abuse. a link was made to Aimee being trans due to her fathers abuse because of the dress up issue.
Plus DC was involved in trans policy decisions at the Green Party, via Aimee.
Aimee being trans doesn’t really have anything to do with anything. But they were corrupt and should be held accountable for this alone. Everything else might be speculation but it is disingenuous to say the speculation came from nowhere.

BitOfFun · 30/08/2018 17:44

Those images of children playing with BDSM toys etc were posted on AC's blog in 2015, I believe, as a satirical anti-gun meme (i.e. If they are there, children will play with them). Given what was going on in the Challoner household at that time though, it's difficult to see it as anything other than trolling. The implication too that it's basically inevitable children will come across sex toys at home has an almost Savilian whiff of 'hiding in plain sight'.

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 18:00

YY. My thoughts exactly.

WomblingWoman · 30/08/2018 18:02

Caroline Lucas - you're a fucking disgrace.
