This is so shit. Thank you for reporting the incident and taking precautions. Even though the worst TRAs have made me somewhat immune to their tactics, this is a new low. I feel gut-punched. I can't even imagine what that poor woman is going through right now. I hope she is okay.

PositivelyPERF · 27/08/2018 12:15

They’ve done it to shut up other victims of TRAs. What better way to shut up an already traumatised person, than threaten to ‘out’ them. This wasn’t a slip up. This was an out and out threat. There have been too many TRAs outed for their liking, so they have to regain control before the whole world sees what they really are. Btw, I don’t include real, decent old school transsexuals with this load of woman and child abusing scum.

We see you and women will fight until our last breath to protect children and females, even those silly ‘woke’ handmaidens that don’t want to see or acknowledge the risk they’re putting themselves and others in. That’s real feminism, including and protecting ALL females, not those men who claim to be females.

The victim was just identified without a second thought because the purpose of the tweet was to defend AC at all costs and so the victim was just a throwaway part of it.

IMO it was crafted to seem like "without a second thought". Possibly because that is a known legal get out of jail free card in practice.

It just did not come accross as a spontaneously written response. It was too carefully specific and too eager in the aim for maximum clarity regarding the identity of the victim to have been a slip.

CesiraAndEnrico · 27/08/2018 12:17

They also signalled that they have access to the most private information, and therefore are the closest to Aimee.

^^That !

Without in any way telling me anything about the victim, how did they word the tweet?

DuckingGoodPJs · 27/08/2018 12:19

Outing the child victim? Totally reprehensible.
Those who did that, should get a jail sentence.

I will speculate, someone close to the C family was the leak. Who else?

ReginaBlitzkreig · 27/08/2018 12:21

What on earth is "It will be accepted by the judge whose chambers oversaw the case" supposed to mean?

That the judge will be tipped the wink and will overlook a crime? That's a completely unjustified smear.

And chambers do not oversee cases.

There is enough to be horrified about in this case without inventing more.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 27/08/2018 12:22

Popchyk

“Presumably because they intend to blame it on TERFs.

And get all the talk about Challenor and the Greens shut down or at least reframed.

It would be worth it to them (outing a rape victim) if they can change the narrative into transgender people being the victims.”

This is the first thing I thought. Tactical outing.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/08/2018 12:27

I agree there is a possibility that this is a threat.

More and more rape victims being named on social media, it's a gift for misogynists isn't it.

To name this victim makes you the scum of the earth though.

People who have seen naming - have you forwarded to police? People have gone to prison for doing this. Quite right too.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/08/2018 12:27

No comments on guardian site then? 🙄🙄🙄

FermatsTheorem · 27/08/2018 12:29

In faireness, re. the comments, it's a news item rather than an op-ed piece, and generally speaking the Graun doesn't open news items to comments (since news items are meant to be "this is what happened, the facts...")

AngryAttackKittens · 27/08/2018 12:29

The evil fuckers who outed the victim should be prosecuted.

The BBC have a very odd set of newsroom priorities. Anything involving potential leaders of a credible political party is news. I assumed the Guardian were going to avoid this unless they could find a way to spin it as "transphobes made Aimee not disclose anything to the GP", but the BBC is the national public broadcaster, ffs. The British people quite literally pay for it. It has a responsibility to cover stuff like this.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/08/2018 12:31

I hope they are taken to court. This can't be tolerated.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 27/08/2018 12:38

The more I read the more I believe these people are deliberately trying to loosen safeguarding for women and children in order to indulge their twisted fetishes, and abuse children, though their policy of silencing and threats they are able to cover up and stamp out any objections. Outing victims is just par for the course for them. They have managed to infiltrate a major political party, get other political parties on side, and start digging into law and legislation in this country to spread their rot. The wider story around this story should be front page news. Why isn’t it though?? That’s what I don’t get-who is bank rolling the injunctions and what do they cover? someone has to get that out there. Are there other cases following this one?

I think people who have seen / have evidence of the victim being named should contact the police.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/08/2018 12:41

I'm just gobsmacked that anyone would do that.

What the fuck is wrong with people.

Dear lord. Calling himself "Baloo" and "Reverend"? And that request is deeply creepy, given Challoner Senior's personal life.

IIRC, Challoner Senior became ordained over the Internet. (I did this, too, years ago for fun but would never dream of calling myself Reverend.)

The wife, TC is apparently a minister.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/08/2018 12:44

If the post is still up, or includes other identifying stuff which it obviously does, please don't repost it even with bits rubbed out.

Please contact the police and let them have a word. (I hope that they would).

NameChangedAgain18 · 27/08/2018 12:44

No, don’t post it, even with the victim’s name redacted. People would be able to search for the original tweet on the basis of the Tweeter’s name / handle.
