ans not be transphobic? Because I think transwomen are transwomen and deserve all the rights and protections of the law, and should to live their lives peacefully, unharnessed and using any names or pronouns they wish. But I don't think they are actually, literally women. Incidentally, neither does the only transperaon I know well enough who is old enough to ask. If thinking that makes me transphobic is she transphobic too?

TW should be treated as their preferred gender except in prisons, medical research, statistical analysis, sports, overnight accommodation, occupations such as rape councillor, women’s refuges, AWS and single sex wards where maintaining sex segregation is proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

doesn’t have quite the same ring to it does it?

I probably deserve a good dose of social ostracism, a thumping some rape threats, to be told that I’m causing someone to consider self-harm and doxxing

As far as I can see transphobia is just a way of shutting us up

loveyouradvice · 12/07/2018 19:12

The jury is out on whether "transwomen are women" and I think the TRAs have very cleverly co-opted "Transphobia" as a poor-little-me-battle-cry whenever anything is said that they disagree with... What I hate is that so far it is working!

Mainstream media report Pride protest as anti-trans rather than Lesbian.... and do not even look at the reasons for it!

So although many transgender people would disagree with this, theirs are not the voices being heard

theOtherPamAyres · 12/07/2018 19:29

At the moment, we can choose to be believers or not. When the government updates the Gender Recognition Act, we will have just have to accept it. People will change their birth certificates to show 'female' and it will become a fact.

it will be too late to register your doubt about the literal meaning of 'female'.

Having played a competitive sport against a tranwoman, and having watched a colleague climb the greasy pole of a male-dominated organisation only to declare that he's been a woman all along, I am in no doubt that an intact man with an attraction to women, is a man.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/07/2018 19:59

Given that the genderists think they can refine words to mean whatever they want, and currently 'transphobic' seems to include lesbians saying No to males, then nope. Bert, her TW friend etc are all transphobic.

Perhaps a more interesting question might be, can anyone say 'transwomen are women' without being misogynistic? (Definition: dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.). Because that phrase parroted as dogma seems to me to treat women with utter contempt.

Magpiesarehuge · 12/07/2018 20:01

Don’t care if i get called transhopic (and i do get called it - along with some other words) just like I don’t care when my kids call me mean for removing their phones from their rooms at night or for not letting them eat chocolate all day.

daimbars · 12/07/2018 20:05

I think they are women born with male anatomy.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 20:11

I don't think it is tbh. We are supposed to submit completely. Thing is, they are hooked on this idea that if only we will agree, that validates them. But nothing validates them or ever will because it's not true. There'll be something else after self ID - they will go for the Equality Act exemptions, and that won't satisfy them either, because they'll still be men. They will always want more because what they want can never be possible.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 20:11

Daim that's rubbish and you know it.

From a biology point of view, I can't agree that TWAW.

Does that make me transphobic?

FemWomb · 12/07/2018 20:12

Being called names by someone in a position of power and influence or someone I know and respect, does sting. Being called names by people I perceive as being mentally ill, is like watching a toddler tantrum to me.

You can believe TWAW and say it, you can't force me to do either.

I have become OK with being called a transphobe by TRAs, their language is upside down and inside out to me (I don't believe biological males can become biological females), so I assume that they are actually calling me something nice.

boopsy

How do you know anything fundamental about yourself? I don't understand how it feels to be transgender but I believe people truly are - I don't think it's a disorder or influenced by surroundings, it's something a person is born with. Much like being gay.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 20:15

I know! Everybody agrees. The only reason they have such power and such a voice is precisely because everyone knows they're men.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 20:16

It's not like being gay. You have to INSTANTLY appropriate because TWAW doesn't make sense so you need to appropriate some other cause for sympathy.

ADastardlyThing · 12/07/2018 20:17

Women with male anatomy?

So transwomen then?

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 12/07/2018 20:18

Daimbars posts that on every thread even remotely related to trans issues.
And it’s still bollocks, dear. Probably literally, in your case.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 20:18

Waiting for the racist appropriation
Then intersex
We may have time for infertility before bed

daimbars · 12/07/2018 20:19

I also don't know anyone whose life has been made easier by being transgender. The prejudice, fear, hormones, surgery and lack of acceptance in society. Nobody is going to to change gender for shits and giggles.

Much like I'm not ashamed to be gay but it's made my life difficult in a lot of ways. But I could not imagine living my life pretending to be straight.

If a person can accept the phenomenon of being transgender, in my mind it leads to accepting TWAW.

Isn't a phenomenon something that can't be explained?

terryleather · 12/07/2018 20:29

I disagree that transwomen are women. I'm backed up by biology and reality.

I'm meh about that making me transphobic tbh as I think that word is utterly meaningless now given how it's flung about right left and centre at what seems like everyone/everything and is used constantly to quash dissent.

Under His Eye yet again...
