Lesbians react to London Pride

Some very passionate responses from the lesbian community, since the anti-trans protests.

When Jennifer James pushed to sue the labour party, the result was the labour party clarified it's position as self-id for AWS

This has a similar ring to it, as the anti-trans protesters tried to co-opt the lesbian community, there has been a vocal backlash and clarification of support for trans people.

There's a hashtag to check out... twitter.com/hashtag/LWithTheT?src=hash

You’ve given yourself away there Daim.
Round of applause. 👏👏👏👏

ErrolTheDragon · 08/07/2018 21:13

Yes, coercive behaviours can always be resisted, which is why coercive control isn't a thing.

Oh, wait...

53rdWay · 08/07/2018 21:14

Sorry that's happened to you and to them, UglyCathKidstonBag. It is absolutely appalling how many women are being totally dismissed on this issue, and not only dismissed but called bigots and neo-nazis and whatever else simply for speaking up about their own experiences.

NotTerfNorCis · 08/07/2018 21:15

The definition of a lesbian is a woman who is attracted to female bodies. Not a woman who could be attracted to someone with a male body who claims to be female.

Eight brave women have been widely vilified for pointing this out.

That is homophobia.

Nuffaluff · 08/07/2018 21:16

This might be hard to believe, but this actually the thread in which I finally give up on daim's claims to good faith.

Yup, me too.

TerfsUp · 08/07/2018 21:19

I couldn’t give one shiney shit if your pearl clutching corporate schmoozing rape culture supporting pride marchers are shocked and appalled. Good I say, they damn well should be shocked . I’m shocked that lesbians are being told to accept cock and this is being touted as super woke and progressive

I couldn't give a half-shined shit.

This might be hard to believe, but this actually the thread in which I finally give up on daim's claims to good faith.

I gave up after daim's first post and have never seen a reason to change my mind.

UglyCathKidstonBag · 08/07/2018 21:20

I consider Daim’s last post to be abusive, triggering to rape victims and violent.
They have crossed a line there.

TerfsUp · 08/07/2018 21:23

I am a heterosexual woman and have a question for the lesbians on this thread: would you be offended if I admitted that I am not sexually attracted to you (as a class)?

MissSusanSays · 08/07/2018 21:24

daimbars

History and life are full of situations in which full grown adults are pressure by peers/society/powerful people into doing things they don’t want to do.

For example: the whole Hollywood casting couch thing or, in a more banal way, feeling forced into going home with a guy because he bought you dinner and a load of drinks and he kept hinting that you owed him.

Anyone telling someone that must or should have sexual contact they don’t consent to, especially if outside their preferences, is helping to coerce them and is complicit in generating a rape culture.

I don’t know why the fuck I have to explain this again since the advent of #metoo.

People are suggestible. I’ve been coerced into sex I didn’t want quite a few times by the pressure of the situation. If I’d been braver then I could have said no. So it was kind of my fault. But it was also the fault of the other people in that situation who could see my reluctance but pushed on anyway for their own purposes.

Consent needs to be willingly given but all too often is gaslighted, punched, tricked, cajoled, smothered and pressured put of women.

I would call all of those situations rape. Wouldn’t you?

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 21:25

Rape culture. Homophobia. Bullying lesbians.

We. See. You.

"We're talking about fully grown women with minds of their own who have the capacity and mental ability to refuse to sleep with someone they are not attracted to."

And the point sails miles over Daims head...

bd67th · 08/07/2018 21:32

@garam Here's a trans women objecting to lesbians' SEXual orientation: transgender-uber-alles.tumblr.com/post/141035789689/radfems-arent-real-lesbians
And here's a trans women fantasising about corrective rape: rad-trans-womyn.tumblr.com/post/136823597752/terf-fantasy

And just Google "cisbian".

These are not screencaps, these are the source. You might want to look at how Riley Dennis talks about "preferences" being exclusionary and a bad thing when in fact Dennis is referring to sexual orientation which is inherently exclusionary and totally OK.

MsBeee · 08/07/2018 21:34

what turns feminists on

CONSENT !!!!!

Yesterday - a group of 10 women hijacked the Pride parade and handed out anti trans leaflets comparing being transgender to 'rape culture' effectively calling trans people rapists.

A small group of awesomely brave lesbian women took over the Pride parade as a protest to demonstrate how lesbians were being erased by the transagenda and bullied by transactivists and their allies. FTFY

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 21:35

BD: would you mind posting those again once this thread is deleted. Thank you. In fact we need a rape culture thread, to explain it against all the misinformation about, and to include examples.

NotTerfNorCis · 08/07/2018 21:37

We're talking about fully grown women with minds of their own who have the capacity and mental ability to refuse to sleep with someone they are not attracted to.

There are many ways to bully even a mature adult into sex, 'I'll tell everyone you're a terf bigot if you won't' is one.

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 21:37

Daim and Garam are trying to defend the indefensible. Mumsnet will get so much more bother while tra attempt damage control from this whole thing.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 08/07/2018 21:38

You can't have it both ways, either these women are consenting to sex with trans women in which case what's the problem? Or they are not consenting in which case you are accusing trans women of being rapists.

Is this another failed attempt at logic?

EeveePHD · 08/07/2018 21:38

This was beautiful from the Lesbian Community and really helped perked my spirit up. #lovewins

Ereshkigal · 08/07/2018 21:40

This might be hard to believe, but this actually the thread in which I finally give up on daim's claims to good faith.

Wow Shock you're a better person than me!

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 08/07/2018 21:41

Women who consent to sex with male people are not lesbians.

Ereshkigal · 08/07/2018 21:41

You can't have it both ways, either these women are consenting to sex with trans women in which case what's the problem?

Because coercion is a thing that happens with sex, oh feminist of the year.

@daimbars Do you know nothing about coercive control? About peer pressure? About how lesbians, especially young ones, are pressured not just by the trans woman wanting to fuck them, but their peers too? Case of this:
I have another friend who was recently beaten up by a transwoman. Said transwoman did not reveal that she had a penis until the last minute. As a result my lesbian friend did not want to carry on once she found out that this person was a male. Transwoman said that stance was transphobic and physically hit her, causing a black eye that lasted over a week. This friend still get grief to this day about being 'transphobic' because she did not want to sleep with someone who looked like a female but was male once the makeup and clothes were stripped away.
