Lesbians react to London Pride

Some very passionate responses from the lesbian community, since the anti-trans protests.

When Jennifer James pushed to sue the labour party, the result was the labour party clarified it's position as self-id for AWS

This has a similar ring to it, as the anti-trans protesters tried to co-opt the lesbian community, there has been a vocal backlash and clarification of support for trans people.

There's a hashtag to check out... twitter.com/hashtag/LWithTheT?src=hash

Seriously. By LGBTQIAs definition and stonewalls expanding the bandwidth of trans I seriously think I would be labelled a gay trans man, unless my partner identifies as female then maybe we are trans but straight.

Who would label you this? I respect any label you choose to identify with, so long as there's no malicious intent with your labeling.

Oh dear justabout2016

You just answered me from the wrong account, oops.

"What is the preferred term for people who do not believe that transwomen are women?"

The general public?

LGBTQIA · 09/07/2018 15:52

Do some females have a penis?
Yes, in my opinion.

Do some lesbians have a penis?
Yes, in my opinion.

Are lesbians who reject partners because they have a penis transphobic?
No, in my opinion.

Thanks for answering any questions we have.
No problem :)

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 15:52

Biologists? People with eyes?

82% of the population. Pink News told me.

LGBTQIA · 09/07/2018 15:54

The general public?

Interesting. Do you have any statistics to back this claim up?

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 15:55

What do you think about female lesbians without pensises forming groups, such as clubs which have membership etc which exclude lesbians who have a penis?

Can you give an example of such a club? What is the ethos?*

I cannot give an example, I think they have all been shut down due to pressure.

So, hypothetically what would you think about a group for only lesbians who don't have a penis?

Hypothetrically the purpose might be: finding a sexual partner?

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 15:55

I had no idea it was seen as a slur on here, or anywhere.

Cool story.

Ereshkigal · 09/07/2018 15:55

Apologies for the use of the 'T' word, I had no idea it was seen as a slur on here, or anywhere

Right. Yes as a misogynistic slur aimed at silencing and dismissing disobedient women it's a banned term on MN. Best make a note.

Datun · 09/07/2018 15:55

I am definitely not homophobic, but if you want to ask me any other questions, I'd be happy to clarify further. There is no equality law to state that a lesbian needs to have been biologically female at birth.

Your liberal use of the misogynistic slur terf, and your pretend ignorance of both the equality law and biology, is not just showing your slip, it's hanging down the back of your legs and trailing on the floor.

If you want to confirm that you think the penis can be a female organ, that one's sex is determined by the way one thinks, that men are lesbians if they say so, and lesbians are transphobic for not including them in their dating pool, go right ahead.

It's fairly pointless engaging with somebody who holds those opinions. Because they are the result of ingrained misogyny and homophobia.

Misogyny and homophobia are not affected by reasoned debate.

They stand alone as a reason to hold those opinions.

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 15:56

Do you have any statistics to back this claim up?

See: Pink News.

But if you prefer a less woke source but marginally better numbers: Wings Over Scotland.

LGBTQIA

That's the issue. I could legitimately use it because the definitions and words have been blurred and broadened so much they no longer have meaning. But don't you see how that takes away from those that have dysphoria or are gay. Don't you see how that weakens people's legal protections?

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 15:57

Do some females have a penis?
Yes, in my opinion.

Do some lesbians have a penis?
Yes, in my opinion.

Lurkers, ^^this is why we have a serious issue.

(clue: female is a reproductive sex class, not a matter of opinion).

Where is this weird place where people are identifying as lesbians and bisexuals and lesbians have the penises

What’s all this identifying tosh

BeyondRaggydoll · 09/07/2018 16:00

I apologise for my ableist example of people with eyes. People who can hear and smell also have a fair clue as to the difference between males and females

LGBTQIA · 09/07/2018 16:01

'Right. Yes as a misogynistic slur aimed at silencing and dismissing disobedient women it's a banned term on MN. Best make a note.'

Noted :)

53rdWay · 09/07/2018 16:01

What is the preferred term for people who do not believe that transwomen are women?

You’re probably looking for ‘radical feminist’ or ‘gender-critical feminist’. We believe that ‘woman’ is the term to describe a reproductive sex class, and our school of feminism is about examining and fighting the force (patriarchy) which oppresses this sex class.

People often believe, and are told, that gender-critical feminists intend “but trans women aren’t women” is an attack and is hatred. It’s not; it comes from a philosophy which says, ‘woman’ denotes a sex class. We’re not women because we have inherently feminine tastes or interests, or because we have gendered brains or souls. There’s no right or wrong way to exist in a female body, no right way you should act or dress.

‘Gender’ is the oppressive system placed on top of that sex class system to oppress us. In short: sex is why we are oppressed, gender is how. Transwomen face oppression and discrimination too, of course, but not for the same reasons.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/07/2018 16:03

* "What is the preferred term for people who do not believe that transwomen are women?"

Realists, rationalists?

Thing is, we've repeatedly asked for a coherent redefinition of woman, one which could reasonably be used in legislation, which would allow the assertion 'transwomen are women' to be true, and no-one has managed to do it. The current definition of 'woman' as adult human female is perfectly clear and meaningful.

Transwomen are males who identify as women. But they aren't female, unfortunately cant truly become so how ever much they would wish it, so cannot ever actually be women.

PersonWithAVulva · 09/07/2018 16:04

When you are promoting hate towards transgender people at PRIDE it goes beyond civil debate.

I would say it was promoting lesbophobic nonsense to remove people who have banned stating that a lesbian is a female homosexual. At pride too. Its just ridiculous.

Also oddly enough, this story has been huge among my friends, and I have a very high proportion of gay mates. The lesbians all seem to get it. The gay men..have gone on a rampage about 'homophobic terfs' and such, with the exception of a couple of them, who also got it straight away and are asking the others if they would consider it fine to say that gay men are attracted to female people with masculine brains and such.

ChampagneontheNHS · 09/07/2018 16:05

This is a war on women, period (!)

daimbars · 09/07/2018 16:06

I cannot give an example, I think they have all been shut down due to pressure.

This is so funny! Have you ever met a lesbian in RL Baby? Do you know where we meet our partners?

LGBTQIA · 09/07/2018 16:06

If you want to confirm that you think the penis can be a female organ, that one's sex is determined by the way one thinks, that men are lesbians if they say so, and lesbians are transphobic for not including them in their dating pool, go right ahead.

The penis is not a female organ. It is simply an organ that may or may not belong to a man or woman.

Men are not lesbians if they say so. Transwomen may be lesbians, if they are attracted to those of the female gender, in my opinion.

Lesbians are allowed to date any consenting woman they wish. If they do not wish to have sex with someone with a penis, they are not transphobic. I have already said this.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 16:07

LGBTQIA

A few more questions:

What do you call the specific class of people born with the biology to potentially gestate young?

And how do refer to the adults of this specific class of people?

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 16:09

HQ sent reinforcements. It's still not going well. I'm imagining Stephen Fry as General Melchett, having a tantrum.
