Lesbians react to London Pride

Some very passionate responses from the lesbian community, since the anti-trans protests.

When Jennifer James pushed to sue the labour party, the result was the labour party clarified it's position as self-id for AWS

This has a similar ring to it, as the anti-trans protesters tried to co-opt the lesbian community, there has been a vocal backlash and clarification of support for trans people.

There's a hashtag to check out... twitter.com/hashtag/LWithTheT?src=hash

That to justabout 2016

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 15:03

Interestingly Datun asked what the rules were, and would (i'm confident) have accepted the rules if they had said no straight people.

See the difference?

One group accepting the right of another group to set it's own boundaries and rules, even if that means at times not including them.

Datun · 09/07/2018 15:03

LangCleg

That is getting funnier and funnier.

Oh I was just pointing out the irony that Datun is straight but feels her opinion about who is and is not welcome in the Pride parade is more valid than mine as a lesbian

No you weren't. Or, you were trying to, but in a very weird illogical way which makes no sense and has no consistency or validity.

One or the other.

Wrybread · 09/07/2018 15:10

Oh daimbars

Why are you ignoring the screenshots of rape/coercive sex culture?

I can see you trying to distract the thread away from them. Nice bit of whatabouttery.

But why don't you actually look at the screenshots? I know it can be scary to have your worldview challenged, but I'm sure you're woman enough to do it .

ImpYCelyn · 09/07/2018 15:10

Also, any further thoughts on why the trans "lesbians" aren't putting more effort into dating each other? Surely they love girldick? What with them being same sex attracted an' all...

Just while we're highlighting things that are being ignored.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 15:10

Daim genuine question, which might move us along in the discussion:

what do you think about lesbians setting up female only groups?

daimbars · 09/07/2018 15:11

Oh cheers justabout2016 , I almost missed that post but YourMajestyJ kindly re-posted it.

Sock puppet? Lol I think the LwiththeT hashtag shows there's more than one of us

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 15:12

littlbrowndog - I have shamelessly stolen oi oi from you because it's still making me laugh every time I type it. Is this ok? I can cede to you if you prefer!

justabout2016 · 09/07/2018 15:12

Got be a sock? Both posters and lurkers alike have them worked out.

Why - because I disagree with you, therefore it can't be real?

I rest my case.

LGBTQIA · 09/07/2018 15:13

Unless you are a lesbian. In which case much of the prejudice is coming from inside your own community.

Terrible. Much like transgender people experiencing prejudice from a prominent branch of the LGBTQIA community.

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 15:13

That is getting funnier and funnier.

I can't help it!

Wrybread · 09/07/2018 15:14

C'mon daimbars you can do it. Just take a leeetle look and then answer the hard questions

UpstartCrow · 09/07/2018 15:14

Being a lesbian is not a prejudice. Try again.

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 15:15

I think HQ should probably do a recall for retraining. It's not going well.

Datun · 09/07/2018 15:15

daim

The discussion seems to be stuck on who gets to go to pride.

I have no opinion about it particularly.

The relevant bit is the lesbians who were objecting, were doing so at pride.

They did it at pride deliberately. That was part of their protest.

It's incredibly relevant. It's not just an accident.

You think they shouldn't, I think they should.

But let's move on.

How do you think they should be able to protest, and where?

littlbrowndog · 09/07/2018 15:15

Oi oi. Lang. All urs

BeyondRaggydoll · 09/07/2018 15:17

Oi oi Lang!

BeyondRaggydoll · 09/07/2018 15:17

Oi oi littl!

Datun · 09/07/2018 15:17

I rest my case

Sorry, I've got the giggles, quite uncontrollably, from oi oi.

I thought I had it taken care of, until I read that ^.

justabout2016 · 09/07/2018 15:19

U kidding me just about

Nope. Not kidding. Spent lunchtime discussing this thread with colleagues - some GBT, and even some.... L!

All - every single one - found it unsavoury, malicious, bullying and gloaty, sneery, sarcastic and most of all untrue.

No doubt I'll be called 'rape apologist' or 'misogynist' for this.

That's fine - I don't need to be validated by the internet. My circle of friends (yes, some are L) are completely secure in my beliefs in feminism. There is zero doubt in my mind that I am either.

But I do support Trans rights - in either / all directions.

Most of all, I support the right of all women to have their own beliefs because that is what we have fought for years for; not to be brought down, belittled and told what to think (and by other women?!)

PersonWithAVulva · 09/07/2018 15:19

Lesbian = female homosexual is inflammatory and insulting towards trans women.

From the other thread..I know it was like 500 posts ago but I could not not comment on this. Or highlights the stupidity of the comment. The fact that lesbians exist is insulting towards transwomen. Now, I am sure the non-MRA, non-rapey, non-homophobic transwomen are perfectly fine with lesbians being lesbians, but a large number of 'transwomen' seem to be very invested in tyhis whole thing and saying lesbians are nothing but 'terfs' and such. Its good to have it finally laid out like that, that TRAs think being a lesbian, and knowing what a lesbian is, is insulting to male people. MRA in action here.

Datun · 09/07/2018 15:20

I rest my case.

Absolutely losing it here. Seriously. Crying.

Wrybread · 09/07/2018 15:20
