Lesbians react to London Pride

Some very passionate responses from the lesbian community, since the anti-trans protests.

When Jennifer James pushed to sue the labour party, the result was the labour party clarified it's position as self-id for AWS

This has a similar ring to it, as the anti-trans protesters tried to co-opt the lesbian community, there has been a vocal backlash and clarification of support for trans people.

Wrong!!!

Pride - a day for celebrating trans people.
Couldn’t be clearer. Lesbians aren’t welcome at pride.
Unless they do dick, of course. Then they can have some blowjob badges and pom-poms for cheerleading.
daim I am mainly a lurker on here. I post sometimes. This has been a fascinating thread.
Thanks for finally showing your actual opinions and what you’re really about.

LurkingBee · 09/07/2018 13:07

"Pride, a day for celebrating trans people,"...um

All that lost history of struggle precipitated and gaslighted away into what is now a money spinner of a corporate party day.

Sic transit gloria mundi-hunniford

Oh Rufus haha if only we were! GrinGrinGrin

That really made me laugh.

LeiaTheSlaya you're not the first. Its always a sorry state of affairs not to be believed but that comes with the territory of being a woman.

To take your ISIS/Islam comparison a bit further Daim...

Finsbury Park mosque is celebrating Eid. A few Muslims use the celebrations as an opportunity to protest against ISIS and how offensive it is to Islam. Does the imam and other leaders condemn the protest as they picked a holy festival, or do they show their support and agreement?

Answers on a postcard please.

ImpYCelyn · 09/07/2018 13:20

Christ that message to that 15 year old is one of the most disgusting and horrifying things I've ever read. Absolutely sickening. Also, statutory rape...

Bespin · 09/07/2018 13:23

point of order madam speaker. pride as turned into a celebration but it should be a day of protest for the rights of lgbt people and we have been in it form its beginning we were just sidelined for a number of years, but trans people were very much part of the formation of the pride movement. also I have no issue with people protesting at pride as long as it was peaceful. as this one was I don't have to beleive in there cause to support their right to do this but they must also expect a backlash from it as they clearly do not represent all in there views.

daimbars · 09/07/2018 13:27

Hmmm titchy Yes I admit more Muslims are protesting about Isis than trans people are protesting about TRAs. Isis are actually killing people though, beheading them, bombing them, throwing them off buildings while TRAs are saying nasty things on Twitter so I don't think the strength of feeling is the same.

It's fuck all to do with strength of feeling - it's the principle. Pride and Stonewall could have said 'yes we agree the TRAs are being abusive to our lesbian sisters and we condemn them'. But instead they chose to support the TRAs and instead condemn the lesbians.

Male toxic entitlement writ large there. Rape culture in full flow.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 09/07/2018 13:41

I'm a lesbian and I'd like to be able to enjoy Pride without being confronted with this hatred. It has no place in our community.

You want to be able to enjoy without having to think about any nasty truths about oppression of gay people during your gay Pride march. Give me strength.

And no, claiming that the trans community are not rushing to separate themselves from a small group of extremists with abhorrent ideas about removing gay rights from women they demand the right to access the vaginas of only because it was the wrong day doesn't stand up. At all.

ImpYCelyn · 09/07/2018 13:43

Although can we take a minute to appreciate the one who suggests "pegging" a transwoman. Pegging being a sex act on which a female uses a strap-on to anally penetrate a male . OWN GOAL!

Datun · 09/07/2018 13:43

daim

When men, or anyone, tell women that they are wrong, mildly, moderately or vehemently, for not wanting sex with a penis, what's the alternative that they are suggesting, do you think?

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 13:44

It's not just TRA's.

When Stonewall and Pride accept that some lesbians have penises, then the meaning of the word lesbian as homosexual female is gone.

This is mainstream in the LGBT organisations right now.

Why aren't all the reasonable trans people objecting to this and contacting these organisations? Instead of the few brave trans voices speaking up right now? Why?

And it's you Daim- you saying banners at pride saying 'Lesbian- homosexual females' are 'mean', you telling female homosexuals to be quie,t and accept that their identity is gone, or cannot be asserted, as their reality upsets some people.

It's you too. It's not just vile TRAs on twitter.

Datun · 09/07/2018 13:45

That might have looked ambiguous.

When a woman is called transphobic, or disapproved of, for not wanting to have sex with a penis, what do you think is the course of action she should be taking to not provoke that reaction ?

Datun · 09/07/2018 13:49

YourMajestyJ

When I first started to read about this a couple of years ago, I read a lot of comments like that. Quite sickening.

I had forgotten.

It strikes me afresh.

I will never stop talking about this.

YourMajestyJ · 09/07/2018 13:51

Maybe because the lesbians chose Pride, a day for celebrating trans people, to make this very nuanced protest about the actions of a subset of trans people.

You just outed yourself, again.

Everyone sees you exactly for what you are.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 09/07/2018 14:00

'the actions of a subset of trans people.'

It's not a subset, it's the mainstream LGBT organisations, erasing lesbian identity, supported by trans people.

Where are these reasonable trans organisations that accept lesbians are female homosexuals? Do they exist? Are trans people leaving Stonewall to join them?

LeiaTheSlaya · 09/07/2018 14:04

Just been on twitter and whaddaya know? Just seen a transwoman doxxing as many of the lesbians as they can. See Daim? Not that huge gulf between TRA and transwomen that you claim.

And of course, all the tweets and online messages are nice and complimentary.Hmm
