The Harrop bloke really is the worst. He's a bully - I'm not sure I've ever come across anyone more arrogant. He has a God-complex.

He didn't get very far with the hotel though, did he? - he's just had to make himself feel better by tweeting an uber-pompous follow-up letter telling them all off for being so thoroughly horrid! And to go to their rooms and jolly well think about what they've done! Women's meetings! Whatever next!

Professor Briggs is spot on.

And Harrop has just proved the above to be true.

They'll even continue to try and intimidate the venue after the event.

I have .. it's that old fake tweet from 30 June 2017, made using graphics software by a disturbed person in the USA. Only the most malicious of people persist in distributing it to try to defame me. They fail .. everyone who knows me knows that old tweet is a fake and they respond, on my behalf, to those who distribute it in no uncertain terms.

"On Thursday the Mercure Hotel in Cardiff cancelled a longstanding booking for a meeting to be held that day by the group A Woman’s Place, on the grounds it “does not tolerate any form of racist, sexist or bigoted behaviour”. How does this happen? This is a complex debate but on the phone to meek receptionists and scared middle managers, trans activists keep it simple. They say: “These evil women are social conservatives who hate trans people. They’re like Tory bigots who brought in Section 28 and hated gays. They want to eradicate trans women; they incite violence against them. They deny their humanity and want them dead. Do you want your company to be part of that?”

It is ludicrous, of course. The feminists, including many lesbians, have fought for LGBT rights: without exception they believe trans people should live free from violence, indignity or discrimination. (A Woman’s Place has trans members and speakers.) Moreover gay people sought only the right to love who they wished and for that love to receive equal recognition: gay rights had no impact upon the rights of anyone else." (continues)

I think that poster is fully aware that it is fake. But feels that it furthers their misguided cause. Despicable behaviour.

Delurking to say that I went to the meeting. I was supposed to be joined by a lovely friend who thinks that TWAW, mostly I think out of years of "we're all in this together, gays and trans" uncritical attitude, and is shocked by my opinions. Also, this is Brighton and unquestionable support of minorities is the default position.

We had agreed she'd come to this meeting and that I'd join her at a meeting closer to her politics. Sadly, she was put off by the warnings of protests and stayed at home, so I think it would be a good idea in future to play down the danger element a bit. I was quite worried as well, and very relieved to see sweet-looking kids waving colourful flags. I was expecting baseball bats and masks...

Kathleen Stock was amazing in showing that there is a debate to be had. All the speakers, as well as the chair and the representative of WPUK (sorry, I have no memory for names), were excellent. Shame the (rather brave) trans cavalry had no coherent argument, but I suppose there was no time for discussion anyway. Thank you WPUK for all the work you're doing.

PS: A friend sent me the poster for a Pride event organised by the longest-standing lesbian bar in Brighton. What words are missing, you think? Yes indeed: lesbian, gay and bisexual. "Queer", "Trans" and "identify as women" are there, obviously. The erasure is real. The takeover is happening.
