Isn't that great? Terry has got the fastest ever meet time for a girl! Poor Bridget is now third.

I wonder if Terry and Andraya will now get university scholarships based on their poor track performances when compared to their male peers?

'Presumably the boys are getting feted elsewhere and told how stunning and brave they are. Meanwhile, girls are being taught that if you're female you don't count.'

That's the whole issue. EXACTLY. If you're 'trans', you are brave and beautiful and marvellous and fabulous and must have exactly what you want all of the time because you say so. If you're female, you count for nothing, so best just shut up and get out of the way. I am so sick of the whole fucking farce, although I agree that it's good that stories like this are getting out as they will peak trans more people than a bunch of whining feminists Hmm ever will

Baroquehavoc · 07/06/2018 13:21

The obvious outcome of this is that women and girls sports are going to be dominated by TIM. How will that provide any sort of validation for them if they are competing with other TIM? Also, don't they think that eventually girls and women are going to notice and start their own sports teams and races that exclude TIM?

FusionChefGeoff · 07/06/2018 13:29

Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrhhgggggghhhhhhhhhggggggggggggg

Is all I can actually summon up right now

'Also, don't they think that eventually girls and women are going to notice and start their own sports teams and races that exclude TIM?'

Worst case scenario is that this simply won't be allowed. Organising such events will count as 'hate' and athletes who take part in them will be banned from all other events and kicked out by their sporting organisations.

After all, look what happened to the Mitchfest women's music festival.

I can imagine women collating lists of female winners and getting banned from Twitter for tweeting them.

I am in quite a gloomy mood today because of pmt but I don't think any of this is far fetched.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/06/2018 13:41

Just a reminder that if you haven't signed the petition to consult women on gender ID proposals in the UK, please do so: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214118

or it could be your daughter who doesn't make the national championships in the UK

This is absolutely infuriating. This poor girls!

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/06/2018 13:46

The more of this the better, imo. It shows up the whole gender identity bollocks for what it is and is peaktransing many many people.

The tide is turning.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/06/2018 13:56

Yes I agree Bore. I also think that Andraya on his own could have been written off as an anomaly but now he's been beaten by another boy (and Terry is taking first place in a lot of races), it really highlights how completely unfair and shit self-ID is in sport

Poor girls. What happens when an all girl college offers a scholarship to the winners?

Is there going to be outrage now that it wasn't fair somehow cos one person.has been trans longer and oppressed longer so lost unfairly to someone who's been trans five mins?

So unfair to the girls SadAngry

ChickenMe · 07/06/2018 14:01

This is outrageous- OP can you move to AIBU, this really needs to be more widely known.

spontaneousgiventime · 07/06/2018 14:06

This is going to become the new normal. Girls/women will be prised out of sport, to appease men. Girls/women just seem to have little if any value.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 07/06/2018 14:08

As PP have said this is awful - if it affects scholarships it will particularly be poor girls affected too (those who can't afford university without a scholarship).

BlooperReel · 07/06/2018 14:12

I would like any TRA's to come on here and try to justify this utter bullshit. Angry

FermatsTheorem · 07/06/2018 14:17

I believe the usual TRA justification is "well, just like some women are born genetically lucky with more fast twitch muscles than others, some women are born genetically lucky with a Y chromosome, shitloads of testosterone, a narrower pelvis and a much higher VOmax capacity."

Of course the rest of us listen to that "justification" and find our inner Magdalen Berns going "That'll be because they're men" in that wonderful dry delivery of hers.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/06/2018 14:18

I've asked MNHQ to move to AIBU (and correct the spelling of Connecticut before someone else points that out!)

I've just looked up the records on athletic.net. Neither Miller nor Yearwood would get picked to run as boys - they're both way too slow. Miller is ranked 200 in state and Yearwood is 443.

It's an absolute insult to all those girls.

OP posts:
Terfulike · 07/06/2018 14:20

How must these girls feel that adults in positions of power and responsibility have set them up to fail at the sport that they love and excel at?

Baroquehavoc · 07/06/2018 14:23

BlooperReel, I doubt it will take long. Lots of talk about it being fabulous that such a vulnerable group be included in sport, that many competitors have other advantages, and it's only a school age competition, so not that important.

FermatsTheorem · 07/06/2018 14:30

Re. moving it to AIBU - some TRA will then try to get the thread taken down on the grounds that the title misgenders the cheats brave young athletes striving for inclusivity.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/06/2018 14:45

I'm not sure it's going to make much different Fermat - TRAs already monitor the Feminism boards here

OP posts:
SuitedandBooted · 07/06/2018 14:59

The TRA's are keeping an eye on Mumsnet generally.

More threads with eye-catching titles need to go up on AIBU.

It's great to discuss things on this board, but the whole Trans issue needs to be as widely discussed as possible. Feminist Chat is largely preaching to the converted , with the odd plopper/derailer.

I know a couple of Canadian's who had NO IDEA of the actual consequences of Self-ID, and what it meant for women's spaces etc in their country. It was pushed through quickly and quietly, and broadly presented as a gay rights issue.

We can't let that happen here.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 07/06/2018 15:07

The girls look so dejected at the end, which of course they have right to be. There is a reason male and female sport is segregated, and these girls clearly know its not fair.

numberseven · 07/06/2018 15:10

It seems neither of those two persons have taken any steps towards transition except for declaring that they identify as women.

So this is how it will be.

Confused
NotARegularPenguin · 07/06/2018 15:16

Too slow to compete as boys but quick enough to beat females and therefore be able to take away potential college scholarships. I see them and I see what they’re doing. Shameful. These girls and others will miss out on scholarships/education because of this. It’s cheating, plain and simple cheating.

TransplantsArePlants · 07/06/2018 16:07

This thread should go on AIBU

TransplantsArePlants · 07/06/2018 16:08

Oh sorry. I see you've made a move to do that Blush
