That's the whole issue. EXACTLY. If you're 'trans', you are brave and beautiful and marvellous and fabulous and must have exactly what you want all of the time because you say so. If you're female, you count for nothing, so best just shut up and get out of the way. I am so sick of the whole fucking farce, although I agree that it's good that stories like this are getting out as they will peak trans more people than a bunch of whining feminists ever will

Worst case scenario is that this simply won't be allowed. Organising such events will count as 'hate' and athletes who take part in them will be banned from all other events and kicked out by their sporting organisations.

After all, look what happened to the Mitchfest women's music festival.

I can imagine women collating lists of female winners and getting banned from Twitter for tweeting them.

Yes I agree Bore. I also think that Andraya on his own could have been written off as an anomaly but now he's been beaten by another boy (and Terry is taking first place in a lot of races), it really highlights how completely unfair and shit self-ID is in sport

This is going to become the new normal. Girls/women will be prised out of sport, to appease men. Girls/women just seem to have little if any value.

As PP have said this is awful - if it affects scholarships it will particularly be poor girls affected too (those who can't afford university without a scholarship).

I would like any TRA's to come on here and try to justify this utter bullshit.

I believe the usual TRA justification is "well, just like some women are born genetically lucky with more fast twitch muscles than others, some women are born genetically lucky with a Y chromosome, shitloads of testosterone, a narrower pelvis and a much higher VOmax capacity."

I've just looked up the records on athletic.net. Neither Miller nor Yearwood would get picked to run as boys - they're both way too slow. Miller is ranked 200 in state and Yearwood is 443.

It's an absolute insult to all those girls.

How must these girls feel that adults in positions of power and responsibility have set them up to fail at the sport that they love and excel at?

BlooperReel, I doubt it will take long. Lots of talk about it being fabulous that such a vulnerable group be included in sport, that many competitors have other advantages, and it's only a school age competition, so not that important.

Re. moving it to AIBU - some TRA will then try to get the thread taken down on the grounds that the title misgenders the cheats brave young athletes striving for inclusivity.

It's great to discuss things on this board, but the whole Trans issue needs to be as widely discussed as possible. Feminist Chat is largely preaching to the converted , with the odd plopper/derailer.

I know a couple of Canadian's who had NO IDEA of the actual consequences of Self-ID, and what it meant for women's spaces etc in their country. It was pushed through quickly and quietly, and broadly presented as a gay rights issue.

We can't let that happen here.

The girls look so dejected at the end, which of course they have right to be. There is a reason male and female sport is segregated, and these girls clearly know its not fair.

It seems neither of those two persons have taken any steps towards transition except for declaring that they identify as women.

So this is how it will be.

Too slow to compete as boys but quick enough to beat females and therefore be able to take away potential college scholarships. I see them and I see what they’re doing. Shameful. These girls and others will miss out on scholarships/education because of this. It’s cheating, plain and simple cheating.
