A letter to a female transactivist

Just saw this on Twitter. Brilliant

"A man is not a woman. There’s no medical procedure that can change sex in humans or any other mammal. When you fight for the right of men to call themselves “women” and enter woman-only spaces on the basis of their say so, you are doing what Men’s Rights Activists have always done. You are violating women’s boundaries for personal gain. You are allowing men to colonise women’s spaces. You are creating a climate of fear where women and girls will start to withdraw from public life, because all semblance of safety – access to sex seggregated spaces when they are vulnerable – will be destroyed. Your activism is not feminism, it’s at best a misguided naiveté, and at worst opportunism to get ahead while throwing other women under the bus. And by the time you realise how foolish you’ve been, because you are “just” a woman in those men’s eyes, it’ll be too late. The way entitled men disrespect women, the way they mow women down, the way they put their own needs, feelings and wants before women’s lives and livelihoods, they’ll do the same to you when you’re no longer useful to them."

I'd be afraid of spilling things and making a mess in any all white room. White trousers are bad enough, the one time I tried to wear some to work someone spilled an entire large coffee on me before I even got there.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:44

anushka

I like the steampunk look

Friend of mine painted every room pale grey and it did look awesome but none of my furniture would have fit in her house

Anither friend has a house that's completely white!!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:45

I need to google the actor playing kylo

I did wonder how han and leia managed a giant child like him

Is he very handsome in real life?

FermatsTheorem · 29/05/2018 22:47

Now Kylo Ren is not my thing in the slightest. Darth-Kevin-the-Teenager as he is known in the Theorem household. However, I believe he made it big in a series called "Girls" which my North American friends rave about which I have not seen.

ReluctantCamper · 29/05/2018 22:49

I know Fermats, Kylo Ren deserves a lifetime on the naughty step. and yet he gives me the serious fanny gallops.

who can explain these things?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:50

Nope

Checked again and I'm not feeling it

Which is probably a relief to that actor to be fair

AngryAttackKittens · 29/05/2018 22:50

They seem to be making a habit of pouty petulant manchildren in important roles, baby Vader was so irritating I had a hard time buying the idea that anyone would want to marry him even before he went evil.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:51

There was no chemistry between anakin and wots her face in those films...none

ReluctantCamper · 29/05/2018 22:52

now baby vader was not my type at all. not mad about blonds.

also not evil enough

ReluctantCamper · 29/05/2018 22:53

and yes yes to zero chemistry. unfortunately natalie portman and baby vader were neither of them great actors.

FermatsTheorem · 29/05/2018 22:54

When it comes to the three "prequels" I have my fingers firmly in my ears going "la la la... there are no prequels... it starts with ANH..."

Agree, no chemistry at all between Anakin and (I think it was) Padme.

However, Rogue One (aka The Dirty Dozen in Space) - Cassian is rather tasty, and I think there was massive chemistry between him and Jyn, all the better for the fact that the writers resisted the temptation to turn it into a leurve story.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/05/2018 22:55

Also not a fan of blonds, but even if I was I suspect I'd have spent the entire film wanting to smack him. Was kind of hoping McGregor would honestly.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:55

I cant stand the first three films

Love love love 4 and 7, then probs 5, 6 and 8...i think

FermatsTheorem · 29/05/2018 22:57

I've just remembered this:

Saturday Night Live - Kylo Ren (the real actor as well) in "Under Cover Boss: Star Killer Base".

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:57

I enjoyed rogue 1

But i didnt like the lead characters really, thought the robot was cool

But its a very good film...i may even prefer it to number 8

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 22:59

This is bloody awesome

m.youtube.com/watch?v=7T0vs9gYydo

Harrison ford and chewbacca on the jimmy kimmel show

ReluctantCamper · 29/05/2018 23:00

rogue one was so sad......

good film but genuinely heart wrenching and that's not what I watch the star wars franchise for.

zero eye candy in films 1-3 frankly.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 23:01

I was a bit 'WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED' at the end of rogue 1 ....not gonna lie

FermatsTheorem · 29/05/2018 23:04

Yes, it was "fuck me, Disney just killed the whole sodding cast. Disney... DISNEY FFS!"

AngryAttackKittens · 29/05/2018 23:05

I long ago gave up on Star Wars offering me any of the variety of eye candy I'm likely to go for. I'm just glad when they don't make me sit through Ewoks/Jar Jar/some other misguided attempt at being cute and/or funny.

FermatsTheorem · 29/05/2018 23:05

(But the ending was what made it! If they'd gone with the original idea for a happy ending, our heroes escape, it would not have been nearly such a good film.)

ReluctantCamper · 29/05/2018 23:06

many bothans died to bring us this information

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 23:06

Bloody ewoks

And yes 'disney!!! What the fuck'

ReluctantCamper · 29/05/2018 23:07

I always loved mon mothma's hair, but now I've just looked at pictures of her I take it back.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 23:07

And they sat on the beach

I do think it was good that it wasnt a love story

And i love the 'cowardice' of finn, reminds me of the 'cant be arsed unless there is money involved ' attitude of han
