Interesting speech here by Brendan O'Neill

Pfft... I we get accused of calling those who disagree names! I'm going to stop responding. Pointless. Where's rat when you need a decent argument?

Bejazzled · 10/05/2018 23:10

No individual is 'always right' or 'always wrong'

In this case Brendan is correct. "Transwomen are women" is a lie.

ItrustAdrianlearnshislesson · 10/05/2018 23:12

“it believes gender identity is immutable and not chosen”

Really?

ItrustAdrianlearnshislesson · 10/05/2018 23:15

Worse than pointless flowers, I think you have got my post the wrong way round. My fault for writing it badly to be fair, apologies......

Asnailwhale · 10/05/2018 23:20

On this website, I feel hatred is fuelled by ignorance. Most people seem to believe being a trans woman is about dressing up. This is not the case. Being a trans women is matching what you have been feeling inside you all your life and altering your appearance to fit what you’ve always known you are.

flowersonthepiano · 10/05/2018 23:20

Sorry! You're right I misunderstood you. You have been well and truly proven correct on this thread!

Katialoo · 10/05/2018 23:22

On this website, I feel hatred is fuelled by ignorance.

Well that's a really condescending opinion. As well as an ignorant one.

spontaneousgiventime · 10/05/2018 23:22

Asnailwhale You mean all these threads are about men dressing up? Well bugger me!

OrchidInTheSun · 10/05/2018 23:22

Altering your appearance is one thing. But you can't magically change sex.

Have you actually read the article snail?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/05/2018 23:23

All this yawning is worrying me

You'll all be deleted and nobody to blame but yourselves Sad

Asnailwhale · 10/05/2018 23:23

Hey!!! You’re welcome!!! I hope everyone is just as accepting as you!!! Maybe we should be friends!!! Do you want a medal!!!

I’m just trying to express my (unpopular) opinion what’s wrong with that?

spontaneousgiventime · 10/05/2018 23:25

Asnailwhale No medal thanks, just women keeping their own sex based spaces. Is that so hard to understand?

Asnailwhale · 10/05/2018 23:37

spontaneous
Seriously and truly I understand where you’re coming from. I understand that it can be hard to open up spaces that are exclusive to women to someone who used to be male. I get it.

But how many times a day do you use said facility? Public women toilets? I don’t look at other women as they pee. There’s asense of privacy there as anywhere.

Another example is health clinics? Doctors are now finding ways to give trans women uteri. That doesn’t mean a trans woman is going to use every OB clinic in the country. There is a sense of privacy everywhere and you can respects others’ whilst they can respect yours

LightofaSilveryMoon · 10/05/2018 23:38

just women keeping their own sex based spaces. Is that so hard to understand?

Yes, that's me too, despite verbiage by men!

Asnailwhale · 10/05/2018 23:38

And I have read the article and I do find it sad that radical feminists are behaving so badly to TERFs just expressing their opinion

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/05/2018 23:40

And I have read the article and I do find it sad that radical feminists are behaving so badly to TERFs just expressing their opinion

What?

Sorry i dont get it

Irishfeminist · 10/05/2018 23:41

Asnailwhale what do you think the "rf" in TERF stands for..you sound a bit confused..

Night all.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 10/05/2018 23:41

I actually used to be able to actually hear bats squeaking, back when I was young!

spontaneousgiventime · 10/05/2018 23:42

Asnailwhale It isn't just about me though is it? It's about all women, some who due to previous abuse would never be able to share with a man. Women who for cultural reasons can't share with a man. It's not just about me, it's not just about you, it's about all women with many different stories, many different lives and many reasons to fear men.

Night irish

Im off to bed as well

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/05/2018 23:43

asnail

I domt think it was radical feminists punching that lady in the face

(Dammit i need to stay up for a few more minutes)

sillage · 10/05/2018 23:45

Is this the "TERFS are neither real radicals nor true feminists" gambit?

Every now and then some libfem writes an article trying to claim Andrea Dworkin was actually sex positive. She wasn't, words have meanings.

spontaneousgiventime · 10/05/2018 23:46

Rufustheyawningreindeer I don't think I can. My eyes are closing. Nite all.

ItrustAdrianlearnshislesson · 10/05/2018 23:46

“Seriously and truly I understand where you’re coming from. I understand that it can be hard to open up spaces that are exclusive to women to someone who used to be male. I get it. “

Ok, so if you get it what’s the problem? Fwiw I think the opposite. It’s hard to keep female spaces female.

I think you need to gather more information. It takes a bit of reading in to understand.
