The slogan ‘Trans women are women’ is a lie. This is my sincerely held belief.

Interesting speech here by Brendan O'Neill

really interesting speech ... and concept...

I think they are right.... and I am becoming a witch....

How do I enable others to see that I am an angel fighting the good fight... not a witch to be pilloried and disowned....

PeakPants · 10/05/2018 21:58

blogs.spectator.co.uk/2015/09/a-compliment-isnt-misogynistic-why-dont-feminists-understand-this/

Here he is mansplaining why women should STFU and just accept men sleazing on them at work.

ItrustAdrianlearnshislesson · 10/05/2018 22:05

This is true peakpants.

When someone on here says that TWareW, they are asked questions.

When someone says otherwise they are just called names.

CoffeeIsNotEnough · 10/05/2018 22:14

You're happily aligning yourself with a website that's (amongst many other things) spent years denigrating breastfeeding? Spiked, a truly feminist website Shock.

flowersonthepiano · 10/05/2018 22:18

When someone says otherwise they are just called names.

I've had loads of discussions with non-gender critical people on this board. I have not called anyone names. I like talking to people I disagree with. That's how you develop your ideas.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 10/05/2018 22:19

Really? This is about Brendan O'Neill?

'Transwomen are women' is an untrue statement.

Doesn't matter who said it.

You people are batshit if you are attacking the person speaking this scientific truth simply because you hate his politics

And THAT'S why we are in this fucking mess in the first place

Bonkers thread

flowersonthepiano · 10/05/2018 22:21

Not aligning myself with a website, agreeing with a speech on the website. And not happily either. I'd be much happier to hear something similar from Jeremy Corbyn Grin

Popchyk · 10/05/2018 22:24

Does anyone actually disagree with the words that he spoke?

Presumably not.

So that's good.

I'm not sure the "you can't agree with him on this issue because you might disagree with him on other issues" diktat is going to wash on here. Because you'd have to be staggeringly thick to fall for that one.

spontaneousgiventime · 10/05/2018 22:24

I couldn't give a shit about the web-page or to a degree the writer. I agree with the article and that's what I commented about. Trying to make people look or feel bad is a tactic as old as time.

OldCrone · 10/05/2018 22:25

PeakPants
No, personally I would be very concerned about supporting messages from groups and sources that are fundamentally anti-women.

So if someone who you disagreed with on most issues, said something you did agree with, you would change your opinion so that you disagreed with them on everything. Is that what you're saying?

thebewilderness · 10/05/2018 22:27

You're happily aligning yourself with a website that's (amongst many other things) spent years denigrating breastfeeding?

What are you talking about?

Who do you imagine yourself to be talking to?

Is this a new rule that if anyone links to anything anyone said they are aligning themselves with the website where it is recorded?
Do you hear yourself?

Irishfeminist · 10/05/2018 22:31

I have always liked the comparison with trans ideology and transubstantiation, having grown up in (and grown out of) Catholicism. I'm familiar with the magical thinking. Though I must say, by the time I was a kid in the 1980s, even the devout had SOME grasp of metaphor. I don't think anyone liferally believed the Eucharist was actual blood and human fleshConfused

Whereas the TRAs are right there in the heretic burning stage.

PeakPants · 10/05/2018 22:32

OldCrone no I just wouldn’t start a thread supporting said person and saying they were right and how sensible they are. Same as I wouldn’t do that in respect of misogynistic anti-LGBT groups. This is just the latest of a long list of right wing people who have been applauded on mumsnet for speaking out. You can see why people might get the wrong idea.

Asnailwhale · 10/05/2018 22:34

Hi there! Guess third wave feminism hasn't made it to your neck of the woods! Why should you care if a trans woman wants to be a woman? Has womanhood turned into some sort of club? Please get your necks back into the 21st century! Frankly quite disgusting.

Popchyk · 10/05/2018 22:35

Those who are afraid to be aligned with a website.

They do know they're on Mumsnet, right? Transphobia central supposedly.

And yet here they are posting on it. Aligned to this website. Arguing that people shouldn't align themselves with a website that they might disapprove of.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 10/05/2018 22:47

LOL Pop

Can be arsed responding to Asinine there. Sometimes it is just too tedious.

Night

Opheliah · 10/05/2018 22:48

Why should you care if a trans woman wants to be a woman?

Uh oh...

Dare I...?

Because when you are a woman, woman has meaning, and while imitation is indeed the most sincere form of flattery, it's also the most potent insult.

flowersonthepiano · 10/05/2018 22:49

Hi there!
Yoo-hoo!

Guess third wave feminism hasn't made it to your neck of the woods!
I think it has been considered and rejected as submission to the patriarchy.

Why should you care if a trans woman wants to be a woman?

I don't care if men want to present themselves in feminine ways. I sympathise with people with severe dysphoria who feel compelled to alter their bodies. I don't think it is possible to change your sex.

Has womanhood turned into some sort of club?

No. It's a biological reality that cannot be joined, like a club.

Please get your necks back into the 21st century! Frankly quite disgusting

There's no need to be rude!Shock

thebewilderness · 10/05/2018 22:52

I think the fact that the right will and the left will not speak out for women's rights makes the left look bad, not the women.

Have you been living under a rock?

ALittleBitOfButter · 10/05/2018 22:54

Has womanhood turned into some sort of club?

Ba ha ha ha Grin

er no it's trans ideology that has tried to turn it into a club. You just are a woman, you don't pretend to be one to be part of a club.

busyboysmum · 10/05/2018 22:59

Hmmm posted then went out for the evening. Came back to an interesting thread. It's a shame no left wing men are brave enough to stand up for freedom of speech and women's rights. But they all seem to be worshiping at the alter of the men in dresses and harassing actual women. Sad state of affairs.
