There is no way I can watch any of this - just reading about it gives me the radge.

I will observe from the sidelines via this thread though...Grin

picklemepopcorn · 06/05/2018 21:05

BettyFloop · 06/05/2018 21:08

UpstartCrow · 06/05/2018 21:08

You are missing being lectured about how pregnant women is oppressive and you should henceforth refer to them as pregnant persons.

RealRamona · 06/05/2018 21:09

Why the anger?

daimbars · 06/05/2018 21:10

Just don't watch it Confused

RealRamona · 06/05/2018 21:12

...as in..why the anger at a trailer before it's even aired?

Why not watch it? I'm quite interested to know more about how the media portray this debate. Wouldn't watching this do that?

exWifebeginsat40 · 06/05/2018 21:28

i must have missed the conscription of viewers for this.

just..don’t watch. and if you do watch, and you feel you should live-blog your impotent rage on mumsnet, you need to examine your motives.

actually, if you’re going to spend the time between now and it airing, speculating wildly about how outrageous and disgusting it will be, you’re just not very nice.

picklemepopcorn · 06/05/2018 21:34

Thanks Betty. I read the write up. There are a few bits that sound interesting, but by and large it will be irritating beyond belief, I think. I will find myself thinking judgemental things, and I do try not to do that!

AncientLights · 06/05/2018 21:39

There we go again, exWife, not being 'nice'. We always have to be 'nice', don't we? Some of us are sick of it. Especially when we're seeing our rights being eroded, our safety & dignity being ignored and the English language mangled beyond all belief. To satisfy a tiny minority of narcissists. So please explain why we should be 'nice'.

Terfragette69 · 06/05/2018 22:20

AncientLights

Exactly! It looks like a bunch of narcissistic young people to me from the bits I've seen but I will be watching to see if I can learn anything........ Hmm

terryleather · 06/05/2018 22:23

I don't imagine it will be outrageous and disgusting I just imagine it will be extremely annoying and of course you're right, no one is being made to watch it which is why I won't be watching.

You're setting yourself up against the supposed judgers while being pretty judgy yourself btw...

Neither am I!
And I've had booze so I'm even more not niceShock

ReluctantCamper · 06/05/2018 23:14

i'm not nice this evening. that bloody twitter person has popped up on another thread and i've astonished myself with how angry i am at them. cam over here to simmer down, but it looks like i may have made a wrong turn Grin

leyat · 06/05/2018 23:18

Women are socialised to be 'nice'. Fuck that. I prefer to be authentic; I prefer to challenge bullshit; and I prefer to resist patriarchy....

TrumpTrump · 06/05/2018 23:25

I'd be quite happy with programs like his if they started b defining the words they use... are they going to give us an objective definition of 'gender', for example?

terryleather · 06/05/2018 23:38

Have some booze Reluctant, then you can be more not nice but you won't feckin care...Grin

Yup that troll was Shock and I'm pretty much over being scolded by randoms - it's tiresome.

ReluctantCamper · 06/05/2018 23:41

I'm on pink port. it's 19.5% Shock

I'd like to watch this. It would be good to get some idea of what people who think gender is important are talking about.

leyat · 06/05/2018 23:42

It will be interesting to see how they edit their footage from the gender meeting that Munroe attended where mostly male TA's wore masks and physically prevented women from entering the talk, at one point trapping some women in a stairwell, all of which only ended when the police finally decided to do something. Then when Munroe attended the meeting, he tried to speak over one of the speakers - which no-one ever does at these meetings because obviously it is totally out of order to do so - and was promptly asked not to do so, he decided to leave. It would be great if C4 showed what happened in the way that it happened, but I am not holding my breath. The very idea that a show on women should be presented by a male is breathtaking in its misogyny. Seems pretty obvious that this is not actually a show about us...

Tinycitrus · 06/05/2018 23:47

Look it just is what it is. Gender is a huge issue for some groups of people so tvprogs will be made about it.

I consider myself gender critical- but some of you are really pushing it to extremes FGS.

Honestly get a grip Hmm

terryleather · 06/05/2018 23:50

Oooo pink port sounds intriguing...but I fear I am in danger of going off topic as per with the booze chat.

It is of course good to hear other points of view so perhaps I could watch tomorrow if I a) stay off the booze and b) take some Kalms beforehand...

leyat · 06/05/2018 23:55

@Tinycitrus maybe just focus on not getting so bothered by the fact that other people have strong views on something that you don't.
