I've been organising free clothes swaps in south east London since 2013. Attended mainly, but not exclusively, by women and their children, they are fun events that save money and the environment and strengthen and enrich the community.

The Birds Nest thebirdsnestpub.com/ have hosted many of our swaps in their back room. I am also a regular customer at the pub.

I had planned an event there next Friday 6th April. However, a local transactivist came on to the event page a few days ago and threatened to disrupt it (see attached screenshot).

I asked the managers to have a word with this man (also a regular customer) and to ban him from the event to ensure our safety. However, their response was to immediately cancel our event and to take no action on the man.

I'm extremely upset on a personal level but also furious that men can make violent threats against women, specifically in front of their children, yet simultaneously claim victim status.

This is how transactivism works

The lovely 'lady' with the baseball bat, @Smeaton ?

Yes. It says "Die cis scum".

But that's what these brave and stunning women are all about.

UpstartCrow · 01/04/2018 12:03

This is fascism disguised as progressive politics.

Datun · 01/04/2018 12:09

The threat and trantrumming is bad enough. But the 'gleeful stick it to the woman with my wide-eyed support' is just pathetic.

We seeing you is barely necessary, with such rank stupidity.

I've emailed expressing my disgust at their actions.

DrRadFem · 01/04/2018 12:14

It sure if below link works. I've posted in the event page that the event is cancelled x

Called 101 and they suggested I go to the station in person. I'll report back what they say

If this is new to you - anyone out there reading, and think that the Trans activists are all about genuine trans women and their freedom to live peacefully; and not a Mens Rights Activist movement wanting to shut up women, force sex onto lesbians and prey on children - please look at the Terf is a slur website I linked to earlier.

ScarletBegonias · 01/04/2018 12:19

Good luck, Venice.

LizzieSiddal · 01/04/2018 12:21

Flowers glad you’re reporting.

None of us, can let these bastards grind us down!

TerfsUp · 01/04/2018 12:24

Good luck, DrRadFrem.

Yetanothertranswoman, I want to thank you for your stance on this.

Benywydd · 01/04/2018 12:26

I'm so sorry this is happening. It reminds me very much of the judgement of Solomon - accusing you of trans kids deaths whilst selfishly getting a clothes swap where women will be getting clothes for their kids shut down. I will contact the pub privately.

UpstartCrow · 01/04/2018 12:40

I'm glad you're reporting, keep an incident diary because this is targeted harassment and its not going to just go away. Flowers

Janicejanet · 01/04/2018 12:44

Absolutely right to report. Keep us posted.

Twunk · 01/04/2018 12:48

Just when you think you’ve reached the peak of peak trans - another larger peak appears in front of you. I hope the police are helpful (though I suspect not).

LangCleg · 01/04/2018 12:56

Called 101 and they suggested I go to the station in person. I'll report back what they say

Good. Report any further harassment too. It's important that the police are able to build up a full picture.

LangCleg · 01/04/2018 12:56

Yetanothertranswoman, I want to thank you for your stance on this.

Seconded.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 01/04/2018 13:05

@DrRadFem Terrible this has happened to you.

I strongly urge you to contact Paladin National Stalking Advocacy Service paladinservice.co.uk 020 3866 4107 [email protected] - Our unique team of accredited Independent Stalking Advocacy Caseworkers (ISACs) ensure that high risk victims of stalking are supported and that a coordinated community response is developed locally to keep victims and their children safe.

They will advise what evidence you need, how to approach the police plus give you the emotional and practical support you need. This is serious shit now as it's harassing, stalking and mobbing - it is illegal and you do need to protect yourself. Also care is needed for your well being as this kind of harassment cause PTSD.

The people doing this are committing criminal behaviour - you have the written evidence which is great. If you know the people's identity all the better- and take real good care

AreYouTerfEnough · 01/04/2018 13:12

It’s not really up to the police to judge is it? If someone is stalking, harassing and threatening then it’s a crime and the police are duty bound to act on it or you can make a complaint. What if something happened and the police had failed to act - this has happened before. Even if the police hate women they can’t pick and choose.

RedToothBrush · 01/04/2018 13:37

Venice, I have PMed you. I hope you are ok, and do consider what I suggest. I'm not happy about it, but think its probably a wise move for now.

Natsku · 01/04/2018 14:00

Really hope the police are helpful.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/04/2018 14:30

@Angryresister, I think you mean this article: www.feministcurrent.com/2018/03/23/leftist-women-uk-refuse-accept-labours-attempts-silence-critiques-gender-identity/

It includes a long interview with Lucy Mcdonagh about the difficulties Goldsmith's students have caused various working-class women's projects in Deptford. Complete inability to grasp the reality of these women's lives and look for practical ways to help/support/empower them.

Venice, look after yourself. These people are nasty.

thornyhousewife · 01/04/2018 14:33

@DrRadFem sorry this has happened to you, but what a marvellous example of half-wit trans activists Grin

TERFragetteCity · 01/04/2018 14:35

I just think of all the poor trans women [LM] who can't afford clothes that could have benefited. Weird huh?

auntycartmanslargertesticle · 01/04/2018 15:29

With you all the way Doc!
