That's a very weak conclusion, and it's about as strong a statement as can be made on the effectiveness of pheromones in humans. The reason is in your quote:

Many animals have strong pheromone responses with substantial control over behaviour. Humans don't, but smell does play a part in mood and attraction.
The reasons straight blokes don't fancy transvestites and generally are not attracted to transexuals is about a lot more than just smell.
