Be interesting if it actually gets debated.

I'm not sure what's being taught at the moment - but both Scottish and English govts have just done a "consultation" on this (that has been kept very quiet imo - I only heard about it on MN - not throug my dc's schools, and I have dc of both primary and secondary age).

They're looking to teach this gender shit to our children - and some seem to be doing it already. I honestly can't believe they're doing this to our children.

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 22:58

*It's being taught as PSHE.

dogendsaredogs · 22/02/2018 23:11

Piss off irreversibledream I will not be pogammed. I am a free woman.

LangCleg · 22/02/2018 23:11

Bumblebuzz - you'd have to ask your school what they cover in PSHE, whether it includes trans issues and, if it does, what resources they are using (anything provided by Mermaid or GIRES will be pushing this crap). You can withdraw your child from this if you want to (but not from the science lessons in which reproduction is taught):

Destinysdaughter · 22/02/2018 23:12

Thank god I didn't know this was on, I'd have been throwing things at the TV ( that's telly, not transvestite...) Grin

Off to read Twitter now, thanks for the links!

Destinysdaughter · 22/02/2018 23:22

Actually I feel pretty heartened after reading some of the tweets, they're mainly pretty incredulous which is good. The more the general public know about this the better!

incorruptibledream · 22/02/2018 23:23

A lot of posters seem to be conflating sexuality and expression with gender identity. Are you really that terrified your little precious ones will be corrupted, learning about a socially developed construct as if it will rub off on them. Your little boys aren't going to come home wanting a skirt for their birthday.

How ignorant. This issue is here to stay and unfortunately it may well be a case of waiting for your generation to die off before it can be fully accepted. Ironically like sexuality.

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 23:30

We're really, really not conflating that, incorruptibledream - do you think we're thick? We just don't want our kids pumped full of puberty blocking drugs & hormones because they may not conform to socially prescribed gender norms. That clear enough for you?

Gender non-conformity is okay. It doesn't mean they have to change themselves into the opposite sex.

Yambabe · 22/02/2018 23:32

You seem to have missed the point entirely incorruptible. So what if our little boys come home wanting a skirt? Mine could have had one if he's asked (actually he wanted - and got - a hoover when he was 5).

I don't wear skirts myself - am I a man?

Why can't people just express their own personality however they wish without having to be labelled anything? Why can't we accept them as they are without giving them hormones to try and make them into something else?

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 23:34

FOUR < the age that a child was transed on that ITV show. Had been "living as the opposite sex" for 3yrs and was 7 yrs old

Fuck right off with that - this is child abuse. How can a four year old know anything about gender unless you tell them. THEY'RE 4.

TheLovelyHorse · 22/02/2018 23:35

incorruptible You will never take our kilts

LangCleg · 22/02/2018 23:38

Ironically like sexuality.

It seems to have escaped you that trans ideology vis a vis young people is gay conversion.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 22/02/2018 23:40

Are you really that terrified your little precious ones will be corrupted

No, incorruptible. We're terrified that our innocently skirt-wearing boys will be told that they must really be girls, and chemically castrated and surgically mutilated in order to uphold patriarchal gender norms.

incorruptibledream · 22/02/2018 23:41

It is not gay conversion.

Also nobody is suggesting your kids will be pumped full of drugs by learning about non binary gender. This reminds me of the days when ignorant twat men thought a gay man would try it on with them because he is gay.

This is not all about you and your otherwise perfect kids.

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 23:42

Your little boys aren't going to come home wanting a skirt for their birthday.

Hey - you don't know Mumsnet very well! A load of mums on here will argue till the cows come home that it is ok for their little boys to wear fairy princess outfits, skirts, fairy wings. And for their little girls to have short hair, wear trousers.

We started the let toys be toys campaign - we are gender critical. Gender is bullshit. Let kids be kids, let boys wear makeup and high heels if they want to.

Just lay off the hormonal drugs Hmm

LizzieSiddal · 22/02/2018 23:43

Your little boys aren't going to come home wanting a skirt for their birthday.

You really are missing the point! We do NOT care if our sons want to wear a skirt, or make up or high heels. We do care if he is then told that he must want to be a girls and he ought to be changing his name and visiting the Tavistock clinic.

Branleuse · 22/02/2018 23:43

according to that list, I dont think ive ever met someone that is not trans.

Ereshkigal · 22/02/2018 23:44

How ignorant. This issue is here to stay and unfortunately it may well be a case of waiting for your generation to die off before it can be fully accepted.

You do realise you'll also be fairly old when that happens? "Our generation" won't be dying off any time soon, sorry. I think the huge child transing scandal will be breaking first.

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 23:45

And you're clearly not familiar with the very homophobic wing of trans politics, are you incorruptible ?

Perhaps you'd like to tell your transactivist mates to get the fuck away from lesbians and trying to coerce them into accepting lady-penis. That is homophobic.

UpstartCrow · 22/02/2018 23:45

incorruptibledream
Kids are being told they can take pills to make them the opposite sex, there were several such children in the program.
Children that are put on puberty blockers are rendered sterile. then they are given crows sex hormones.

We say let kids be kids.

incorruptibledream · 22/02/2018 23:45

NOBODY is taking your kids to the clinic! Send them to school safe in the knowledge there will be NO trips down to Tavistock. Relax all. Biscuit

UpstartCrow · 22/02/2018 23:46

*cross not crows.

Ereshkigal · 22/02/2018 23:46

Also nobody is suggesting your kids will be pumped full of drugs by learning about non binary gender.

How about not learning about any "gender" at all? Given that it's regressive sexist nonsense?

incorruptibledream · 22/02/2018 23:47

You do realise you'll also be fairly old when that happens

Yes I do. But I still won't be ignorant to something that will be far more widespread and accepted by then. Sorry!

Ereshkigal · 22/02/2018 23:48

You think. Other opinions are available.
