Secrets it was mentioned in the press - the Spectator and Telegraph covered it. The group still exists on FB and Madigan is still an admin.

And there are screenshots of him interacting with the group too, so it's not like he was added without his knowledge either.

The whole photo is hilarious. Everyone looks unbelievably bored except the bloke with the handbag.

The comment that they are busy giftwrapping the next election for the Tories made me chuckle.

Transgender women ARE women. There is nothing wrong with a Transgender person running a group for women. There is nothing wrong with part of the alloted meeting addressing Transwomen issues. By expecting transgender women to "stick to thier own" group, you are perpetuating the exclusion of people based on gender. Its interesting that the reaction on this thread basically highlights why it is so important to address this attitude outside of *just the transgender community and raise awareness with women in general.

Lily Madigan is not a woman, he's a narcissistic young man who would have no business even in an LGBT officer position, never mind as a woman's officer. This is partly because he's not bright and has very little life experience, but mostly because he's not a woman.

He was elected by men so that when women ask why a teenage boy, who knows fuck all about womens issues or just being an actual woman, is now womens officer, they can smirk at us whilst telling us that he is a woman and we must all be transphobic to deny this.

He is also clearly easily minipulated. Something they wouldn't have been able to do with an older, experienced woman.

Reading something on fb recently, posts from a less thoughtful informed group of women than mn, and now it seems to be just parlance that transwomen are referred to in an article as women and women are ciswomen. We need the qualifying adjective. Tiz bullshit alright.

The problem, gamer, is that this person is the women's officer, not the LGBT officer, therefore their job is to talk about women's issues, not trans issues.
