Was Greer Right When She Said Men Hate Women?

I have just skim read The Female Eunuch and like everyone else, the stand out line to me was that men hate us but we aren't aware of the extent, and neither are they!!

Do you think this is true?? My DH, my late father and my brother, all immensely like/d and love/d the women in their lives. I hate to think it is true, but if it is, I want to know! I want to know my enemy.

Um, no is the short answer. Greer is a bit nuts. The suggestion that all men hate all women because they are women is just a bit silly isn't it. I can't say I have ever felt hated by men in general. Misunderstood, yes, quite often. Taken for granted by some men is another thing I have felt. But my hated. Hate is a very strong word.

I’ve seen the analogy than men see women like dogs. Nice to have around and you love them dearly but they don’t get an opinion and if they step out of line then you slap them back down. Namalt and nadalt but I think it works. It’s not always visceral hate, it’s more we’re not truly human, like a man is. Not men.

Those poor women mentioned upthread. There are no words. I don’t expect the women do it to types have a shred of compassion for them as per.

@Wimmple a class is made up of individuals. Saying that all me hate women is just as stupid as saying all upper class people hate working class people. It's a generalisation. There are times when generalisations are useful, and there are times when they are stupid. They are useful when you are talking about very specific issues within a very small group of people where outliers can be disregarded. When you are talking about upwards of three billion people they are stupid.

I suggest Carrie and Ray have a quick look online and see just how many women are threatened daily for having an opinion, for being out there. Death threats, rape threats, you name it. This is well documented fact, misogyny is everywhere.

By the way Terf, who drove the ambulances from the front lines in WW1. Who nursed very close to the front lines in WW1 ? Who parachuted behind enemy lines in WW2 ? Women did, and gave their lives.

Change your statement of stats to black men and then sit back and look at how ignorant you are.

History clearly demonstrates that class men hates class women else men would not have spent all of recorded history demonizing women to justify exploiting women.

I found it useful as I can't articulate my thoughts clearly . I have been known to think all those things ' but my man is so nice' but also when reading horrific crimes against women, or when coming up again misogyny that there's a bigger picture .
