Was Greer Right When She Said Men Hate Women?

I have just skim read The Female Eunuch and like everyone else, the stand out line to me was that men hate us but we aren't aware of the extent, and neither are they!!

Do you think this is true?? My DH, my late father and my brother, all immensely like/d and love/d the women in their lives. I hate to think it is true, but if it is, I want to know! I want to know my enemy.

So explain how men have sent other men to die in wars in their millions. Explain why men get far harsher prison sentences than men for the same crimes. Men don’t really give a damn about other men, what they do care about is being demonised and the hypocrisy.

It’s such a sweeping statement to make about men. Those men were children once, how did they suddenly,or slowly come to hate us? Of course men don’t hate women, although I agree with the statement “Men are worry that women will laugh at them, women worry that men will kill them” Greer can write some crap at times.

Oh - RaySwan is one of our mens rights activists. You can always tell from the type of arguments they bring on. So, we're at "war" first are we.

Ok Ray - men send other men to war for the continuation of their power, to win, and to either defence their own power, or gain more power. Not because they hate men as a class.

In general - men don't get harsher prison sentences for the same crimes.

Jesus that’s exactly my point. Men are indifferent to men and by extension women. Hence why they are quite happy to send them to die.

I think often in wars, especially in countries without national service, (some) men are happy to sign up.
I am quite fed up with discussing a few examples where men can be percieved to be worse off (war, crab fishing, working in warehouses) in the face of widespread persecution of women.
Seriously. Grow some empathy.

I can't stop him doing the whataboutery - but I can point it out.

Men are not sent to war because they are "hated". Men are glorified and decorated in war.

Women receive much longer sentences for violent crime than men do.
While men like you are entitled to your own opinions you are not entitled to your own facts.

Sorry but that’s just bullshit. Many where shamed into going, a sense of duty ect. Yes some will have gone (not knowing what they where signing up to) for glory but remember that men where not allowed not to go to war.

Women are just as capable of murder & violence towards men and other women. Have you seen the state of some people on Saturday nights? Young pissed women knocking lumps out of each other, do you think that that behaviour is all due to men?

Men have always been allowed not to go to war - there were conscientious objectors.

It depends which war you're talking about as to how relevant this line of argument is - but oh look! Suddenly we're talking about men at war - not women, or the subject of this thread. What a fucking surprise.

Men are responsible for well over 80% of all violent crime, and 98% of all sexual crime.
