So I just read that in America, there's another variation on cis. Apparently the 'correct' term for a 'Latina' is now 'Latinx'. WTF??

I've also been talking to several transwomen on Twitter who think that self ID is a terrible idea.

Always No that is the correct way to refer to a MIXED group of men and women, or where you are not sure of the sex. It is to prevent women being subsumed under a masculine word, what with women not being male.

I’ve lurked on here. I could see the robustness of some of the arguments but I thought trans people are a tiny tiny fraction of the population so is it really an issue? How likely is it that you find a trans person working in your local shelter or changing at your pool? I’ve only ever met one trans person irl and she was lovely.

But I hate the way the debate is being framed and how they are pushing for sweeping changes without any thought as to the effect on women. How they would eventually make the concept of women meaningless for the purposes of say crime reporting or fair pay or anything like that

Yes, transsexual people are a tiny population. 'Transgender' though is much wider given it includes crossdressers and such

And self-ID (which businesses are adopting, and the government is considering making into actual law) means it will be any male person, coming to a changing room near you soon. Not transsexual people. Just any male who fancies it. Which I suspect, given how many male people are predators, will be a fairly large number taking advantage of this sillyness.

Then my daughter watched the cbbc programme about a GNC child, and turned round and said "you can change sex if you want". Quickly educated her on that, came here understood gender as a social construct.
But I think it was reading the push to indoctrinate children/young adults and the complete lack of research. Then when on to read about how this has panned out in Canada/ USA.
To be honest I, ve had so many #peaktrans moments I'm sea sick.

I,ve just bought tickets for a woman's place uk meeting in Birmingham. I'm bringing my daughter she's 10 - I'm expecting a lot to go over her head. There was a time when I thought this fight is lost - but it's not. Women are mighty when we come together.

Everyone was pretty much silent, there was no discussion. The lecture ended on a PowerPoint screen of pink sperm.

The ‘lecturer’ seemed to enjoy pointing out that she suffers from morning glory often, and the only thing I managed to utter about what a woman is was ‘I think I’m too priveleged to discuss this’ - not the best retort in the world
