Don't think I've ever read anything from 'Country Squire' before!

Interesting analysis

DianeBrewster · 04/02/2018 20:10

Wow.

Yes, I wonder what the demographic of that magazine is? And what their readers think of the article!

newtlover · 04/02/2018 20:18

hmmm
this is some kind of media studies project
that will be why you've never heard of it before

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 04/02/2018 20:24

Wow.

That was refreshing. In many ways.

Please tell me s/he's real?!

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 04/02/2018 20:25

Probably not

Cheered me up though Grin

Myunicornfliessideways · 04/02/2018 20:26

Wow. Most interesting analysis by Tamsin.

noraclavicle · 04/02/2018 20:33

Real enough according to this

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 04/02/2018 21:01

Even better Smile

Ereshkigal · 04/02/2018 21:11

Infamous T is definitely real.

newtlover · 04/02/2018 22:42

sorry, the appalling writing still suggests a 1st year undergraduate project to me. Of course they would create content that had some basis in the real world. Much easier these days to do this sort of thing. I remember when you would have to actually print real stuff on paper with ink and then figure out how to get into people's hands. Now you can just post a link on a well used website.

noraclavicle · 04/02/2018 23:35

Perhaps so, but it’s the analysis of the political/social situation we find ourselves in at the present - from the viewpoint of a trans woman - rather than the medium or the shortcomings of the writing style that’s of interest here.

motmot · 05/02/2018 09:29

I recognised some of that from threads on here. Word for word.

motmot · 05/02/2018 09:31

Maybe T is a mumsnetter!

NaturalWoman · 05/02/2018 15:37

I recognised some of that from threads on here. Word for word.

Me too.

Melamin · 05/02/2018 15:49

What an eclectic collection of articles. It is interesting to see what people who have chosen green fields like to read. In 'about', it says CSM has existed since Nov 2016.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/02/2018 15:58

Interesting article.

As an aside.....it's doing my head in that I seem to be agreeing with articles in a magazine that holds diametrically opposite views to me in every other respect.

They have a Countryside Alliance ad on there...in my activist days I had actual fights with their members (anti hunt protests)
They stand for everything I hate in that mag....snobbery, country squires, landed gentry, hunting etc etc

Yet here I am reading an article and nodding along.

I am literally living in a Black Mirror episode and I wish Brooker would write me the fuck out of it.

NaturalWoman · 05/02/2018 15:59

Completelely agree, Lana

iamawoman · 05/02/2018 16:14

We are all living in an episode of black mirror when universities are promoting tolerance and diversity but only to born men, whilst no platforming prominent feminists and anyone that doesnt use correct pronouns - i mean i have had to.put up with 30 years of being asked if i am a mrs / miss /ms!! Otherwise known as do i belong to a man or not!

Gacapa · 05/02/2018 16:19

I recognised the words from here too. One has directly lifted from the other. No idea which.

Gacapa · 05/02/2018 16:20

Of course Tamsin may be a mumsnetter.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 05/02/2018 16:22

I know Tamsin in real life. I'll point her in the direction of this thread.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/02/2018 16:28

Thank you for putting your head over the parapet.

Thank you for being honest.

"I believe in chromosomes" in that one phrase you nailed it, totally and utterly nailed it and it was beautiful in it's simplicity.

NaturalWoman · 05/02/2018 16:34

In that case, Whats, thank you, Tamsin Smile

Melamin · 05/02/2018 16:43

The battle lines, politically-speaking, appear to be the sanity of those that understand we fall outside of the norm, and merely seek societal empathy for the accident of our birth, versus those that seem keen to use the power of their ability to CHOOSE to ‘identify’ as transgender as a societal cosh with which they can beat society into a different shape

I liked this bit.

IAmSpartaCis · 05/02/2018 16:47

Rainbow Reich

I am STEALING that! 👌😏
