A woman is talking about her own rape and subsequent abuse and harassment but she can only do that if she prefaces it with, "Of course, I understand that transwomen have it worse."

And if she doesn't include the preface, it's completely reasonable to abuse her all over again using misogynist language and tropes?

Yes, that's pretty much it!

Elendon · 02/02/2018 12:35

I don't have ovaries anymore, like a lot of women, but I know they were there, I was born with them, and they helped me get my three children.

Power to our ovaries.

Elendon · 02/02/2018 12:42

Being on mumsnet has helped me a lot to get over the loss of my ovaries (first taken at 29 and second taken at 48).

What got me though was a transwomen saying to me several years ago was that now I was like her. No. I was born female.

I am female.

Jennifer James commenting on the thread under Rose's tweet about the "meltdown"

Love JJ!

Nice.

pisacake · 02/02/2018 12:56

What a vile narcissistic shit. He dares to turn up and shout at her for what? Because she's a woman and he hates women.

What the fuck did his rant have to do with her event? What made him think his rant was relevant or appropriate?

And why does she say 'we're the same'. It's obvious to anyone that that's not true.

Datun · 02/02/2018 12:59

Elendon

Flowers

Of course you're female. You're a woman. It's imprinted into every cell of your DNA.

If you werent a woman, you would not have been in a position to be upset about the removal of your ovaries.

It now makes me laugh. This desperation to invoke fictitious women born without vaginas, or menopausal women who, unaccountably, are suddenly not female.

Elendon · 02/02/2018 13:23

I just love two flames.

Jennifer James to be the next Labour Leader. She knows and she is wise.

Elendon · 02/02/2018 13:25

Thanks Datun

I'm lovin' Derry Girls at the moment because it reminds me of being a girl and all that that entailed.

I am living a life worth living.

Because I am a woman and I am female.

xx

MountainsofMars · 02/02/2018 14:08

She’s utterly fan-fucking-tastic.

Really shows the lunacy of the male demands that women - and feminists particularly- are supposed to look after everyone else. Supreme “whataboutery”

OnTheList · 02/02/2018 14:16

If transwomen are women, then Rose speaking about women IS Rose talking about transwomen surely?

I think she handled that ridiculous outburst well. Got a bit too angry but thats totally understandable.

And What on earth does transwomen being in male prisons have to do with Rose? Should Rose stop talking about her own experiences and start campaigning to have male people in with female people in prisons (for the female people to be sexually assaulted and raped, most likely). Its just batshit. Every little thing has to centre transwomen, whilst the mantra 'transwomen are women' means that differentiating between trans and real women is apparently transphobic?

Datun · 02/02/2018 14:22

It sounded to me like the transwomen are women mantra is, for Rose, just something that will now always preface the word but...

Ereshkigal · 02/02/2018 14:37

Go Rose Thanks

Ereshkigal · 02/02/2018 14:39

Every little thing has to centre transwomen, whilst the mantra 'transwomen are women' means that differentiating between trans and real women is apparently transphobic?

It's so plainly obvious how narcissistic and misogynistic it is that I'm amazed more people can't see it. Cognitive dissonance is powerful.

CapnHaddock · 02/02/2018 14:47

Trans women are women except that we're not allowed to talk about the reality of women's lives (the bleeding, the babies, the vaginas) because that's transphobic

Ereshkigal · 02/02/2018 14:48

That's why we're not allowed to talk about them. Because it shows the lie.

Collidascope · 02/02/2018 14:59

I feel really sorry for Rose. I can imagine that for a woman who has suffered a lot of abuse at the hands of men but also claims to believe that trans women are women, there must have been a startling cognitive dissonance to have someone who is quite clearly male heckle and yell at her as she talks about her abuse. She felt obliged to stick to the line of 'yes, you're a woman,' even as she obviously sensed that this was just another abusive male trying to gain control over her and make her back down. When you see something like that, you realise just how insidious the whole thing is. I'm not convinced Rose consciously recognised it, but unconsciously I'm sure she did. She was furious that he was trying to gain power over her, control her language and tell her to centre the men. You could see her utterly railing against this happening to her again.

just5morepeas · 02/02/2018 15:17

Good for her! Can't believe she is getting abuse for talking about her own experiences rather than other people's! Wtf?!

ThymeLord · 02/02/2018 15:21

I really like Rose. I think she is quite brave to be so outspoken in her industry, when it seems that most celebs toe whichever line is currently fashionable.

I hope she stands strong against the backlash she will get for this. Go Rose.

Mamabooksbabynumber2 · 02/02/2018 15:24

I really appreciate reading this thread as I've seen so much insane and nasty messages to Rose on her Instagram account and about her on Twitter. I'm currently reading her book and it's really excellent.

Badweekjustgotworse · 02/02/2018 15:25

Love her for this!

It’s so fucking insulting for that trans woman to come ranting in screaming at her to centre transwomen when she’s talking about her own abuse ffs!

It’d be like black trans woman coming in raving at a BLM meeting at some one taking the platform to talk about racist abuse they’d suffered... BUT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR TRANSWOMEN... not in a million years would that happen because racism is a ‘proper’ axis of oppression but rape and sexual assault that women protest about? Nope... we’re just silly feminists ripe for being ssshhhed and usurped from within our own movement.. Angry

cista · 02/02/2018 16:14

I'm so fucking angry about this. I don't even care if the trans woman who attacked Rose has gender dysmorphia. I don't care anymore! Women come first here. Angry

Ereshkigal · 02/02/2018 16:18

Hopefully this will mean another wave of peak trans. It's so nakedly obviously a male telling a woman to STFU about her own sexual abuse and issues.

Gileswithachainsaw · 02/02/2018 16:21

Way to go rose. What a complete dick head. Me me me.

Fuck off

I loved her response to "cis" I hate that label too!!!

I applaud you Rose

WeeBisom · 02/02/2018 17:27

The message that I’m receiving from this is that we, as women, aren’t even entitled to the time and space to discuss and process our own rapes and assaults. That’s so selfish of us! Our activism and energy must be dedicated 100% of the time to trans issues. This trans individual saw Rose expending emotional energy on something other than trans issues, and had a hissy fit. We are expected to be the 24/7 emotional babysitters and handmaidens of trans women- and if we don’t comply we will be screamed at and threatened.
