Break it down for me?

Hi all, I am fairly new to the discussion on the impact that transwomen are having on women generally and I want to more fully understand the issues (been trying to talk to my husband about it and am struggling to articulate it).

I feel so awkward writing about this as I definitely don't want to come across as sounding horrible about transpeople, I just want to understand.

Also there are a lot of acronyms being thrown about. Can anyone help me out?

Can someone add a link to the thread where Datun describes climbing the hill towards peak trans? I expect it is on this thread somewhere but I am struggling to find it anywhere in MN at the mo. Many thanks!

arranfan · 23/09/2018 15:08

Polestar50 - there's a version by Datun currently on pg 2 of this thread.

Oh sweet Jesus. What an idiot! Posting in the very thread I have been going in circles searching for all along. Having one of those days. Thanks @arranfan!
As you were.

arranfan · 23/09/2018 16:03

Polestar50 - :) I've read Datun's piece more recently so thought the more recent one is the one that you meant but remembered the one from earlier in this thread.

The dictionary is officially now transphobic, apparently? Female erasure, the definition of woman, or any hint of being separate from males is verboten. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3375155-Billboard-with-dictionary-definition-woman-adult-human-female-removed-after-pressure-from-TRAs

The dictionary is officially now transphobic, apparently? Well, they can make that edit around the same time as they explain that homosexuality/lesbianism are transphobic. There's probably a mass of revision to be done, frankly, so somebody should start tendering for the bulk-editing contract.

I've just been startled to learn that GIRES claims that transition has been associated with the remission of autism, symptoms of ASD etc.

The symptoms have disappeared once the dysphoria has been treated.

Posie Parker has now been doxxed, and her children put at risk, just for having an opinion on the word "woman."

Women's Place UK link to speeches:
womansplaceuk.org/film/

This is a very important speech :
'Professor Michele Moore is an expert in Inclusive Education and Disability Studies. She leads human rights projects across the world to support children, their families and those who work with them. She is the Co-Editor of the ground-breaking book Transgender Children and Young People, Born in Your Own Body from Cambridge Scholars. Michele will be discussing ideas from the book – the implications of self-declaration of gender for children and young people, including disabled children'

See also Spectator article this week:
'Don’t tell the parents: the official guidance to teachers of ‘trans children’
As in so many progressive schooling fads before it, children are the experts and teachers are just there to facilitate'
by Madeleine Kearns
concludes:
"What’s worrying is that anyone who challenges the new teaching on trans issues can find themselves in trouble. So when Victoria Atkins, the Minister for Women, admitted to being ‘a little cautious’ about teenage sex-changes, she was accused of bigotry. And Dr Kenneth Zucker, perhaps the leading authority on gender dysphoria in children, was recently ousted from his clinic in Toronto after being accused of ‘transphobia’ and supporting ‘conversion therapy’ because his 40 years’ experience and research had led him to the conclusion that affirming a child’s perceived gender can be counterproductive.

Many of these transgenderism training programmes are publicly funded. Last year, LGBT Youth Scotland received more than £1 million in grants, including £350,000 from the Scottish government, £160,000 from local authorities (all but one SNP-controlled), and £75,000 from Education Scotland. Mermaids UK, meanwhile, was granted £35,000 from the Department for Education and £128,000 from Children in Need.

Something is off here. Teachers are being asked to put ideology before evidence and to exclude parents from serious welfare decisions about their own children. Parents are often not allowed to take part in the discussion. Children are being asked to make important decisions about their gender, which is a surprisingly adult notion for many to grasp. What’s clear is that the issue of gender dysphoria in children is one of tremendous complexity, both medical and moral. To suggest otherwise — to children or teachers — is a dangerous mistake."
