LP Women's Officer trying to get women ejected from LP!

Liam's first motion as women's officer is to get all women who point out he's a bloke (AKA "horrific transphobic abuse") expelled from the party. He's written this right after being rejected for the Jo Cox Programme.

I’ve written this motion against transphobia in the Labour Party. It would be great if members could propose the motion at their CLPs. Hopefully, we can get tougher rules enforced at annual conference. Please share 🌹

Transphobic Abuse in the Labour Party
Proposer: Lily Madigan
Seconder: X
Originally proposed by Lily Madigan

This Constituency Labour Party is disappointed at the sheer scale of transphobic abuse that is rampant among the ranks of the Labour Party, in particular from elected officers. Recently, we’ve seen an onslaught of transphobic abuse from members through social media, largely against trans members including young trans women. For a party that continues to fight for a just society, it is unthinkable that we allow any abusive behaviour in our ranks, in our elected officers, and government officials. As such, transphobic abuse should not be tolerated from Labour Party members.

This Constituency Labour Party notes that transgender and non-gender-conforming individuals are more likely to face abuse and this can lead to mental health problems, as shown by the Stonewall School Report 2017, which states that 45% of transgender pupils in UK schools have attempted to take their own life. This report shows that transgender individuals are at risk of abuse throughout their lives, and the Labour Party should not allow its members to partake in such abusive behaviour, in accordance with its aim of creating a just society.

This Constituency Labour Party believes that transphobic abuse should be seen as grounds for expulsion from the Labour Party, and that the Labour Party should commit to furthering transgender inclusivity in policy and the Labour Party itself. Therefore, if this motion is accepted, the Labour Party rules should be amended to make transphobic abuse grounds for expulsion, and that complaints regarding the behaviour of an elected officer of a Constituency Labour Party should be accepted from any individual, and should be sent to the Regional Labour Party to be dealt with.

We further believe that trans men are men, and trans women are women and as such should have equal access with cis counterparts to stand for, and participate with, all party programmes and roles within the Party and in government. This includes but is not restricted to allowing trans women equal consideration for all-women shortlists, officer elections and programmes aiding women such as the Jo Cox women in leadership programme."

He's clearly throwing a tantrum about being denied the Jo Cox and about this legal challenge to Labour:

It’s tempting to join Labour for the experience of being expelled for stating publicly that a male person is not a female person.

hipsterfun · 15/01/2018 23:49

Mass non-affirmation, anyone?

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 16/01/2018 00:19

Can anyone post a link to info about Liam being rejected for the Jo Cox programme please?

thebewilderness · 16/01/2018 00:25

I resent being called an isomer (cis) although I have no objection to this person self identifying as an isomer.

SophoclesTheFox · 16/01/2018 07:03

Of course there could be no possible link between getting the KB for the Jo Cox programme, and this foot stamping, petulant attempt to shaft everyone who disagrees with Lily, could there?

Why do otherwise intelligent rational people give this utter trombone the time of day?

Fucking hell, even Stalin would be saying; "Bit soon to show your hand on the purge programme, Lil. Best keep it on the down low until you've got your feet under the table".

Fucking hell, even Stalin would be saying; "Bit soon to show your hand on the purge programme, Lil. Best keep it on the down low until you've got your feet under the table".

Yup.

'Transphobic abuse' - er, no, those would be 'different opinions' and 'inconvenient facts' love. Those are not something you can demand protection from when you take public office. You're not being abused when someone disagrees with you, or stands up for their own rights. Not giving you your own way is not actually illegal.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/01/2018 08:28

I love the use of the word “trombone” as an insult.

Apologies to trombone players everywhere Grin

Backingvocals · 16/01/2018 08:32

Lots of Labour MPs toadying up to these people and agreeing that “trans women are women” in response to the gofundme campaign Angry

Oh and MN saying you can’t call LM he ....

But otherwise all is great for women Hmm

Thermostatpolice · 16/01/2018 08:35

Also interested to hear that Madigan was rejected from the Jo Cox programme.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/01/2018 08:37

Oh and MN saying you can’t call LM he ....

Is that the reason for the deletion upthread? But women who disagree with Lily have to suck up being called cis, transphobes and terfs? Interesting.

Backingvocals · 16/01/2018 08:41

I think so. Outrageous on a women’s site that women are not allowed to use truthful words about men. We have to call them what they tell us to call them - even when it’s factually untrue. Because women have to be kind and polite even whilst they are erasing themselves.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/01/2018 08:43

But I’ve seen Lily called he many times on here. It must be a new thing from MNHQ.

Backingvocals · 16/01/2018 08:44

Yes it’s a new edict.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/01/2018 08:48

Fuck me.

I bet no-one’s deleting Liliy’s tweets when Lily insults women on Twitter.

bambambini · 16/01/2018 09:05

I’d love to know what Labour peeps/officials/MPs etc actually think about this ehrn they’re not lookjbg over the shoulder for the Secret police. Wonder if they’re pissed st this tiring unnecessary sidelining. Jess Phillips has been getting criticised in Trans Twitterland.

I got a suspension from Twitter yesterday - someone reporting months old tweets - must have upset someone -and though I’m very gen crit on twitter, i think my tweets are still fairly mild. Their trying to silence dissent whatever way they can.

woman11017 · 16/01/2018 09:07

He and these other boys are being used by the Socialist Workers Party, who assume they have control over labour now.

I almost feel sorry for them.

I feel sure we will win the legal case.

I also feel sure this will damage labour's vote share.

Young women may not 'get' it now, but they're not daft, and they will.

GladAllOver · 16/01/2018 09:19

I always thought that if women stood up proudly and showed who we are and what we did, that 'feminism' would not be necessary.
I was wrong. Count me in!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/01/2018 09:20

Lily was probably rejected from the programme because Lily is so immature young, I'm pretty sure at least one TIM has been accepted.

Popchyk · 16/01/2018 09:23

Good news today.

Lily Madigan is 20 years old. No longer able to play the "I'm just a teenager" card.

KayaG · 16/01/2018 09:28

But still waving the "Notice me, notice me" flag.

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/01/2018 09:42

Oh god just how much more of this shit does there have to be before people realise what's going on.

Are they all eating spongy hole burgers or something

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 16/01/2018 10:03

Great news that LM has been rejected for the Co Cox leadership programme.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 16/01/2018 10:03

Ack. Jo, not Co.

LangCleg · 16/01/2018 10:04

Someone on Twitter yesterday said this:

Identity politics is bourgeois. Young working class women get pregnant and are stigmatised, financially worse off, caricatured on telly, face brunt of austerity.

Lily Madigan rocks up in pink velour tracksuit claims he can get pregnant gets Labour Party post representing women.

Imagine a bleached-blonde working class girl turning up in a pink velour tracksuit and getting the reception middle-class biological male Lily Madigan received in Labour Party doing same.

So. Bloody. True.
