Apologies in advance as this is Big Brother related. So watched I clip of the above and was wondering about people's views. As a R&B fan I know that Genuwine is a heterosexual male with, previously married and several children. He goes on BB assuming for the money and has advanced on by trans woman India Willoughby then makes advances towards him and he rejects "her" . She then storms off offended due to this and it is implied he is transphobic as 1. he doesn't want to kiss her and 2. Doesn't recognise her as female. Now I have lots of views about this but found it interesting that apparently this straight male Genuwine has no right to choose of state he is not sexually interested in someone who essentially was a male and is likely to be torn down as homophobic. Ironic given the current topics of sexual harassment that women are rightfully raising. Not sure what I'm asking really just thought it was interesting

Something last night was interesting...the three lads (dapper, Andrew, Johnny) were all 'bantering' 🙄 with Courtney and they were clearly all quite aroused and attracted to him, repeatedly stating they fancied Courtney.

But they weren't disgusted like they were with neo vagina IW. They were giggly curious or something.

Anyone else notice this?

GuardianLions · 10/01/2018 14:03

I think Shane (Courtney) has great style, is an amazing make-up artist and undoubtedly has a steamy sexy charisma when dragged up. Its a sexual confidence and glamour very few women have (female socialisation and conditioning by verbal abuse - "you tart, slag, whore", etc, and bombardment by misogyny and unrealistic beauty standards, puts paid to that long before young women have a chance to feel good about ourselves), but I think a lot of men yearn for it.

For example a bloke I know was unbelievably gutted to find out a super-glamorous dream woman, was actually a bloke, after he was seduced - it was like a male fantasy of perfection - the sexual charge of the come-on - but alas the dream was not true, because the dream had a dick.

India on the other hand, is really tedious, unsexy, deluded and self-absorbed. India isn't able to beguile anyone.

Aeroflotgirl · 10/01/2018 14:32

I remember years ago, say 10, I was watching a documentary about transsexuals, the men transing to women were quite dowdy, with the cardigans, twin sets, old fashioned skirts. They were about 50/60s. They were basically transing into middleaged women from being middle aged men. Buy now its like mutton dressed as lamb, IW a perfect example.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 14:48

That's exactly what people would call a woman who dressed and behaved like India at his age too. Can you imagine? She'd be crucified in the media. Being trans makes you teflon coated, apparently.

Mooncuplanding · 10/01/2018 14:52

It is true that India is not subjected to the 'daily mail sidebar of shame' type of scrutiny that most celebrity females are subjected to

IW gets off scot free on the body shaming

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 14:55

He's happy to dish it out though, knowing that if any of the women retaliated the response would be "oh they're so transphobic, isn't it awful?"

NeedsANap · 10/01/2018 14:55

The funny thing is most trans people have a sexual preference. How is it that non trans are transphobic if they don't want to date a trans person, but a trans person is fine to have a preference?

Thehairthebod · 10/01/2018 14:57

I don't think it's because she is trans that she escapes the sidebar of shame, it's because she is a male and so is not looked at with male gaze? A woman in her 50s dressing like that would he crucified because women over 35ish are no longer deemed fuckable by men, so any attempt to look 'sexy' is ridiculed.

Also, she wasn't that famous before BB was she, it might be different when she gets out!

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 14:58

There's a person called Natalie Reed who used to write for Free Thought Blogs who addressed that, his excuse was that trans people have already worked their way through their own transphobia and so if they say they prefer "cis" partners that's OK.

Thehairthebod · 10/01/2018 15:00

Would IW date a trans man I wonder (was going to name one but can't think of any famous trans men funnily enough!)

DeleteOrDecay · 10/01/2018 15:56

There was that transman in eastenders for a while. They played Stacey's long lost brother (who also used to be a woman).

Wouldn't say they were 'famous' but that's the only example of a transman in the public eye that I can think of.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/01/2018 15:58

Cher's kid?

stitchglitched · 10/01/2018 15:59

A transman won the non celebrity BB a few years ago. He was pretty fab.

Thehairthebod · 10/01/2018 16:11

Yes, the only one I could think of was Cher's kid - but he doesn't seem very 'current' any more does he?

BeyondWW · 10/01/2018 17:17

Chaz bono was in the recent series of American horror story, so I guess is kind of current.

Only other one I can think of is buck angel.

The majority are famous for having babies...

NeedsANap · 10/01/2018 17:18

Anyone mad at him condones sexual assault and is victim blaming

IsaSchmisa · 10/01/2018 17:58

Something I saw written elsewhere which I thought was relevant here is that Anne isn't very gender conforming. She doesn't perform femininity, and nor does she do much male pandering. Not much about her behaviour is what women are socialised into doing.

In the modern parlance, she'd likely be considered somewhat gender nonconforming, and perhaps ace too. Not that she'd be allowed to be any of those things, because as an old woman she doesn't get to be that interesting, and I'm quite certain those are labels she'd reject for herself. But I think it's accurate nonetheless.

jooger · 10/01/2018 18:05

Yes I think Andrew in particular is attracted to Courtney/Shane - the most 'laddish' guy in the house.

jooger · 10/01/2018 18:07

Anne doesn't perform femininity but I think she considers that women should be subservient to men.

terfing · 10/01/2018 18:24

The thing is, when she leaves, India will think she's getting criticism because she's trans not because she's a loon. I doubt she'll learn anything from this.

Datun · 10/01/2018 19:14

She is going to get an almighty shock when she comes out.

And that's the problem.

And identity/ideology that completely relies on fooling all the people all of the time.

It just won't happen.

She's been sold a lie.

She's an obnoxious, self entitled twat. Being trans has just amplified that.

I should imagine she will do the rounds of the talkshows and write articles in a desperate bid for damage limitation. Because her livelihood relies on her being transgender.

She will have to go further down the rabbit hole and drink pints of Kool-Aid. And much as I can't stand her, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Having to further damage her psyche in order to attempt to reconcile something that is unreconcilable.

GuardianLions · 10/01/2018 19:23

Well if India can admit to being a mentally ill male who has had surgery to appear female - then all hope is not lost.

The "I am a woman!" Is painful and disturbing to see.

If India backs down from trying to force the universe to their will, then perhaps a more enjoyable life, with far less pain and conflict, will be possible.

Datun · 10/01/2018 19:42

I completely agree. And I really wish she would.

She said she hadn't had sex since the operation. Which is a surprise to no-one.

She wants to have sex with a man, that makes her gay, in my opinion.

I wish she could embrace her sexuality and discard her identity. Or, at least make it unimportant to her love life.

PositivelyPERF · 10/01/2018 20:03

There's no 'opinion' about it Datun IW is a Trans Identifying man who wants sex with a man, therefore IW is gay. Just as TIMs, who claim to be dick owning lesbians, are straight.

Thermostatpolice · 10/01/2018 20:05

I've always had a sneaking admiration for her because of this. As a politician she was routinely mocked and ridiculed for her looks and virginity. I don't share her politics but remember feeling incensed on her behalf that the media did this.
