Apologies in advance as this is Big Brother related. So watched I clip of the above and was wondering about people's views. As a R&B fan I know that Genuwine is a heterosexual male with, previously married and several children. He goes on BB assuming for the money and has advanced on by trans woman India Willoughby then makes advances towards him and he rejects "her" . She then storms off offended due to this and it is implied he is transphobic as 1. he doesn't want to kiss her and 2. Doesn't recognise her as female. Now I have lots of views about this but found it interesting that apparently this straight male Genuwine has no right to choose of state he is not sexually interested in someone who essentially was a male and is likely to be torn down as homophobic. Ironic given the current topics of sexual harassment that women are rightfully raising. Not sure what I'm asking really just thought it was interesting

I thought India Willoughby was usually very sympathetic to women and feminism, and generally anti TRA. Does that hold only when she herself is fully accepted as an entirely natural woman, with no difference at all?

Scabbersley · 10/01/2018 11:47

I hope India is having a good hard look at Ann. That is the future that awaits her, so it would do her good to start treating older women with respect.

Scabbersley · 10/01/2018 11:48

I think India thinks that she is showing up transphobia in all its forms. She almost certainly thinks she's a heroine on Twitter. She's going to get the most almighty shock when she gets out.

Fantasticmissfoxy · 10/01/2018 11:59

"It is interesting that so many middle aged men who transition believe they become 'young' 'hot' women when they do - it seems to be part of the appeal, the chance for a fresh start, be young again, etc

This is it exactly - they don't want to be real-life middle-aged women (who are largely and unfortunately seen as rather invisible and irrelevant in current society), they seem to want to be some porno version of what they think women are. You only have to look at the way India dresses compared to most women the same age to see that their self image is frighteningly unrealistic.

I for one am grateful that India is on there however, and that they are behaving exactly as predicted - I've been trying to explain to so many friends how alarming the trans agenda is becoming and that it increasingly has nothing to do with 'live and let live' or being kind / supportive to people who are struggling. India is demonstrating my points wonderfully.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/01/2018 12:03

Ever notice how many of them call themselves girls even if they're middle aged? They don't want to be women their own age at all*

Yes and you never hear of a transwoman with a name like Jane or Anne. It's always the 'trendy' names: 'India' 'Paris' etc. That are more associated with younger generations.

Scabbersley · 10/01/2018 12:03

I think the sight of her parading around with her tits out has not helped her cause either [boak]

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 12:05

In the event that I ever see a 60+ year old trans woman called Gladys or Beryl I may concede that that particular person isn't motivated mostly by the desire to get the sort of sexual attention aimed at young women, but I'm not holding my breath.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/01/2018 12:06

The thing that gets me is that it's all an act. You can clearly see it's an act, they are not being themselves they are performing (their idea of) femininity rather than living it. Its so fake, like some weird parody.

Scabbersley · 10/01/2018 12:07

Oh to be fair I know that there are transwomen in their 60s who are rather lovely, in fact I know one and she is called Joan Smile

she is not a transactivist, she is kind and intelligent. Lives alone though and it seems like a very lonely life.

PositivelyPERF · 10/01/2018 12:11

Why isn't iW being pulled up about sexual harassment towards Ginuwine? Any other housemate would have been told that constantly haranguing someone because they've said they wouldn't have sex with them would be threatened with eviction. IW demands to be treated like any other woman but would be screaming transphobe if told to follow the fucking rules regarding harassment like the females have to, as fo the men. Pathetic creature.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/01/2018 12:11

Thats another group of people who suffer as a result of TRA's Scabbersley. The transpeople who want to quietly live their lives without hurting anyone or putting anyone out. I'm sure there are plenty but of course you never hear about them because they don't want to draw attention to themselves. The TRA's are ruining it for those who just want to get on and live their lives peacefully.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 12:12

That's part of what's making even the women who want to be supportive uncomfortable, I think. It's disconcerting being around someone who's clearly attempting to inhabit some sort of persona all the time, especially when there are moments where the true self shows through (like when India was shouting at Amanda in the kitchen and the body language was 100% classic male intimidation).

Aeroflotgirl · 10/01/2018 12:13

Genuwine like all people has the right to fancy who he wants, very aggressive and entitled behaviour from India. I don't think a lot of heterosexual biological males would be interested in India. Mabey its India's personality that he is not attracted to. You can change yourself like a woman, but you cannot get rid of your male personality traits.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/01/2018 12:13

Reading my post it sounds like I feel the trans community should sit down and shut up. I don't think that at all but it's possible to campaign for the rights of trans men and women without taking rights away from women.

Aeroflotgirl · 10/01/2018 12:15

You can change your outward appearance but you are still biologically the sex you were born with. For these Transactivists like India, it all seems an act, they get to play dress ups and being a woman.

Aeroflotgirl · 10/01/2018 12:19

I know scabbersley, its people like IW that do genuine transmen and women wanting a quiet like and to live in the sex that they feel, a huge disfavour.

IW is aggressive, nasty and entitled, they are not the only one, there are plenty in the transcommunity like them, who give genuine transpeople a very bad name. Playing the transphobic card when things do not go to their liking, instead of having consideration and respect for others. If you want to be respected, you have to respect others. IW could do well to take that on board.

Lancelottie · 10/01/2018 12:20

Of the three transwomen I know (well enough to know them by first name) two are called Rachel. No outrageous clothing, no attention seeking. You can forget they're not women, in a sense, because there's nothing contradictorily shouting 'Look how feminine I am!'

cafeaulaitpourvous · 10/01/2018 12:33

I wonder what sort of person India was when she wasn't India.....any one know?

Re the names - DH pointed this out last night ( thanks to India he has very quickly reached peak trans - last night he was looking up autogynaephiliia etc and making lots of comments) he says they are porno names .... they embody what these people regard as real women ....

Aeroflotgirl · 10/01/2018 12:42

Not all men are like IW, he is a complete what you call narcessist, with a complete sense of entitlement. Not a very pleasant person, I guess he was like that before he became trans.

Aeroflotgirl · 10/01/2018 12:43

These types of men tend to be abusive in their relationships.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 12:44

The only man more misogynistic than IW in that house is Dapper Laughs.

Whatnextxx · 10/01/2018 12:48

How many women do you know who scream hysterically that "I am a real woman?" I know precisely zero because women tend to know what sex they are

GuardianLions · 10/01/2018 12:49

Someone pointed out on a different thread that a bit like Shane's'Courtney Act' means 'caught in the act', TIMs can have a similar thing - the examples were 'Paris Lees' sounds like 'sleeze' and 'Anna Lee' is like 'anally', and of course there is the gross Steph-on-knee who believes he is a little girl.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/01/2018 12:49

Would make as much sense as going around screaming "I am a mammal!" at people, if you actually were a woman.

MrWriter · 10/01/2018 13:22

I haven't watched CBB, but am interested in this.
