As things currently stand, Lily could just have a meltdown every time it gets too much until they're coaxed back into public life by adoration. Each post-meltdown return would confirm the brave narrative and that they are exactly the right person to be an MP. Women MPs would not be permitted this luxury. I don't think men MPs would either to be honest.

This is so true.

Men who identify as trans are not only not treated like women, they are allowed to get away with behaviour that non-trans men could only dream of. Trans-identifying men are treated as a super-special, super-vulnerable category of males who deserve endless indulgence, and unfortunately I suspect that Liam/Lily's public display of incompetence and fragility only strengthens his position - as well as furthering the narrative that women who question any of this are just heartless bitches, of course.

FWIW, I was an engineering undergrad who might have actually 'passed' as a fashion student, but I certainly looked nothing like the nerd stereotypes that made up large chunks of my class. I was still the best programmer in my year and I still ended up being the one with the stellar career in the field, whereas some of my more typical former fellow undergrads are still busy building websites for the local plumber. And yet, to this day, even people within my firm who meet me for the first time are surprised that I'm in the tech division and not, as they generally assume, in management consulting.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for calling TRAs out on their shit - but can we do it for the right reasons?
