I'm not watching Sky News, because I have not yet recovered from that Channel 4 interview.

He's gonna say the same crap. I would have 10x more respect if he actually tried to make a point, but he just pulls puppy eyes and expects everyone to pity him because he's 19. At 19, I was a mum of a 2 year old working 12 hour shifts 'interning' whilst the males I worked with got paid their expenses and 'over time'. Oh and my sexual assault was ignored, so I had to quit. I still consider if I should go to the police, but even the woman at rape crisis told me the likelihood of it going anywhere is so slim.

This is the kind of shit HE needs to be addressing. The fact that women aren't reporting their rape experiences because there is actually so little chance of it amounting to anything. The fact that 1 in 5 adult women have experienced sexual violence. No point going on, cos the insolent little bastard would dismiss it as none of these things are as bad as what trans people have to get through or a bit of twitter abuse (that he brought on himself) yada yada.

Feminism was a very different place when I was at uni (1980s). It felt a safe place for women. I do t recognise it now - it seems to be standing up for willies these days.

MrGHardy · 11/12/2017 09:11

On sky, apparently has heard the criticism about the pink jumper. I still can’t stop laughing though. Haven’t seen the whole thing, but did Lily ask for donations to Liam’s PayPal in the interview Grin

SonicBoomBoom · 11/12/2017 09:30

You're joking, MrG! Publicly begging on Sky News. When is this madness going to stop?

As an aside, I noticed Lily telling people on twitter that her 'legal name' was Lily, and so you cannot call her Liam. Yet she says she can't get a flat/loan (can't remember) because she can't get id in her name as Lily... So which is true?

Fekko · 11/12/2017 09:31

What ever comes out of his mouth at that moment, obviously!

Theresnonamesleft · 11/12/2017 09:35

The sky interview. Wow. What a farce.
Could just about string a sentence together.
What makes a 19 year old transwoman qualified for the role of woman’s officer? All woman’s issues are like different. Blah blah blah represent transwomen.

Lily was on there mainly about the abuse received. I sat watching thinking welcome to the real world. Females are abused all the time and bullied. There was no mention of any of the abuse hurled from Lily.

Thelilywhite · 11/12/2017 09:36

Have just watched the clip

' no women have the same experiences'
Actually Lily natal women do have the same experiences because of our biological sex'

Anyway you are not a women.
'Criticism wasn't in relation to my role or what I could bring to it'

All of what I have seen is exactly that. You are a 19 year old young man.
'set up a womens forum '
Have they ? I've not heard anything about that. Has anyone else?

speaking about 10 year old year old being asked their gender 'get them treatment '
conflation of gender and sex as usual

Theresnonamesleft · 11/12/2017 09:36

MYbe I drifted off but he didn’t ask for cash of sky. That was earlier on Twitter

LaContessaDiPlump · 11/12/2017 09:36

Sky News link - didn't see the begging bit unfortunately (perhaps they clipped that deliberately) Grin

www.facebook.com/skynews/videos/2025242100823710/

I maintain that this person has not got the faintest idea of what they are doing. The interviewer made a small point of saying how much better Lily felt since this time last week, which I liked.

CautionTape · 11/12/2017 09:40

Of course no women's experiences are identical but as a class we have a lot in common. Not least being of the sex that is considered second best and being socialised as such.

But Lily is not of that sex. And was socialised as a white middle class male. So...

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 11/12/2017 09:44

WTF is going on at Sky News these days? Isn't it supposed to be right wing not woke letfy dude land?

Lancelottie · 11/12/2017 09:45

If all women's experiences are different, what is it that Lily thinks all-women-plus-Lils have in common that men don't?

What is it that women-plus-Lily could bring to the role of Women's Officer that my teenage son couldn't?

formerbabe · 11/12/2017 09:50

Thanks for the link....As brilliantly articulate/erudite as ever Grin.

Right, back from the school run and going to do some job hunting after being a sahm for 9 years. Shock. Wonder if Lily has any interest/advice/ideas on women getting back into the workplace and the provision of childcare?

MrGHardy · 11/12/2017 09:52

Sonic nooooo

I was asking if that is what Lily is doing. Wouldn’t surprise me. Sorry for the confusion.

iseenodust · 11/12/2017 09:59

On the FB clip there's a brilliant comment from a man "So how is everything he says NOT mansplaining?"

AnachronisticCorpse · 11/12/2017 10:09

All Lily is interested in is Trans stuff. Why is Lily ‘Women’s Officer’? Lily isn’t interested in women’s issues in the slightest.

BlackEyedKid · 11/12/2017 10:15

For heavens sake. This guy has no business being an officer of anything! He’s inarticulate and doesn’t come across as very bright.

Lancelottie · 11/12/2017 10:15

Right, Lily.
At most, you represent 1% transwomen, 99% biological women. So for every 1 whinge-tweet about trans issues could we have 99 about what you intend to do to improve biological women's issues please?

formerbabe · 11/12/2017 10:18

Dire isn't it? Putting the trans stuff to the side for a moment...lily comes across as such an immature teenager.

MentholBreeze · 11/12/2017 11:36

Vast majority of the blokes below in the facebook link are having none of it - yet very few cries of bigot. Very different to when I've seen women put the same points (although generally a lot more politely/less bluntly than those men saying 'he's a bloke in a dress')

LizzieSiddal · 11/12/2017 12:26

Menthol, I thought exactly the same re the comments.

I think it’s a great thing that Lilly is getting so much publicity. It allows more people to see what a joke the whole “19 year old trans woman becomes Labour Women’s officer” actually is. Not just the idea, but how the person chosen is so woefully unqualified.

BatShite · 11/12/2017 12:43

Starting to think the whole thing was to get publicity for 'donations' tbh. After seeing those posts.

Thehairthebod · 11/12/2017 13:29

Another inarticulate ME ME ME interview there Lily

Looking at the comments under the clip and comments on this topic in general, most of nastier comments on this (use of the word 'tranny', deliberate use of the 'wrong' pronoun, 'its a bloke in a dress, he's not a real woman') actually come from men. Women tend to critique more and repeatedly ask pressing questions rather than hurl outright abuse.

And yet its always the 'TERFS' who have to 'die in a fire'.

Fekko · 11/12/2017 13:32

I'm wondering if this is all a Plan to discredit the trans movement? Put someone who is quite a character into the public arena as spokesperson and champion and give them enough rope for them and the whole movement.

I think this is slightly optimistic Grin
