Can we show our support for Jenni? I think she will be in for a kicking tomorrow

Thanks Jenni, for your bravery in speaking the truth

And now India is putting the boot in and angling for Jenni's job

This was what was a very mediocre journalist before transitioning and now thinks is qualified to do WH.

The telegraph had a link to another piece www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/06/pc-backlash-against-jenni-murray-cant-change-facts-trans-women/ by someone called Angela Epstein, but its 'premium' so I can only see the start of it.

Where is the BBC 'impartiality' ... have they made any comment on the support Jenni is getting from women?

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 06/03/2017 18:29

Ha, the day India gets to replace Jenni is the day I rip up my BBC licence and never pay for it again.

hazeyjane · 06/03/2017 18:31

I don't understand how it is breaching impartiality to state something that is a biological fact.

picklemepopcorn · 06/03/2017 18:35

I think the guardian article is reasonably balanced, actually.

picklemepopcorn · 06/03/2017 18:36

Sorry, telegraph. The one posted below.

MakemineaGandT · 06/03/2017 18:39

It's outrageous that Jenni Murray has been given an "impartiality warning" for stating the fact that trans women aren't genetically female. She gave her full support in the article for people to identify as whatever gender they wish. India Willoughby has accused her of "spouting bile". She did no such thing. Her only "crime" is to disagree with the claim of trans women that they are women in the exact same way as someone who was born female. Clearly this is not factually correct.

Since when did stating a plain fact amount to expressing an opinion?!

MakemineaGandT · 06/03/2017 18:41

Incidentally, it's worth noting that many trans women don't even want to describe themselves as "real women". They acknowledge, and celebrate, their difference from "real" women.

KatherinaMinola · 06/03/2017 18:42

All getting rather Orwellian, isn't it Make?

I saw that ghastly "attitude and clothes" tweet - pure old-fashioned misogyny.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 06/03/2017 18:43

The worlds gone fucking nuts.

Well said MakemineaGandT

Post truth world indeed.

A man can never be a woman. What's wrong with that?

Thanks bev.

whoputthecatout · 06/03/2017 18:54

It's a bugger when the apparently world-renowned BBC reminds someone to be impartial when they have simply been stating an observable, provable scientific fact.

The BBC can be impartial as long as it's liberal leftie luvvie impartial (apparently).

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 06/03/2017 19:03

Where is the impartiality when it comes to the endless diet of "being a transkid is cool"? Where are the impartial discussions of the horrific side effects of lupron? Where are the impartial discussions of the sterilising effect of cross sex hormones on children who are not yet old enough to vote?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/03/2017 19:05

I thought Jenni Muray was impartial.
And right.

MammyPlum · 06/03/2017 19:10

I'm with you JM.

Biology is not bigotry. Thank you so much for speaking out.

I looked at the change petition against her - some people seem to have signed it thinking that it is in support of JM (looking at the comments). So maybe remove the link if possible.

Done!

Goodasgoldilox · 06/03/2017 19:27

Sacking Jenni Murray would be like sacking 'Auntie' herself.

fakenamefornow · 06/03/2017 19:37

While looking at the awful petition to get Jenni off Woman's Hour I found this petition.

www.change.org/p/westminster-council-put-a-statue-of-a-suffragette-in-parliament-square

I though this the perfect place to share.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 06/03/2017 19:38

People are using #istandwithjenni on Twitter.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 06/03/2017 19:40

^ This. It's a fucking outrage that she's been sanctioned for this.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 06/03/2017 19:41

Just sent off my e-mail in support of her to WH.

HelenDenver · 06/03/2017 19:43

The headline that the times choose was (deliberately) provocative against the content!
