OK. Read article and checked Twitter. Can't believe this is even a thing to get in a tizz about. Of course she is right. It doesn't devalue trans women to acknowledge their experience isn't the same as someone born as a woman. It's just observing a fact. Not a value judgement as far as I can tell.

I agree with the concept she's trying to get across but I do think there are more tactful ways of expressing it than saying trans women aren't 'real women'.

It would be absolutely outrageous if transactivists got a woman sacked on the basis of having a different opinion from them. I'm a great supporter of the BBC so I hope they don't cave and if they do, there is an avalanche of protest against them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC announce she has decided to retire. I have no idea if she is likely to hear of this but I hope so. And if she does, I hope she knows how many people are behind her.

I was so happy to see someone writing a coherent article about how you don't have to be at either extreme on this.

I'm the same, I have respect for people who feel they are trans and think they deserve support, but have some reservations about the way things are going at the moment, and I don't like the polarised extreme views. It was a very sensible and balanced article and said things I have been thinking when faced with either view. My Dsis is on the pro-trans extreme and I've seen the opposite extreme on here, and I don't think either of them is very helpful in a massively complicated situation.

It didn't even occur to me she could be sacked for what she said. I will be fuming if that happens.
