There was a debate on this on radio Scotland Kay Adams programme this morning, unfortunately I missed most of it but it may be possible to find it on catch up?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/03/2017 15:24

Hurray for Jenni and a bit of common sense. The misogynistic and ageist abuse on Twitter is despicable. Off to find link to email support to WH.

Bigbiscuits · 06/03/2017 15:28

Totally suppprt Jenni Murray on this

BridgeRiverTower · 06/03/2017 15:33

I'm Jenni Murray.

Great thread.

Go Jenni. Star

boldlygoingsomewhere · 06/03/2017 15:36

Well done, Jenni. Thank you for articulating so clearly and reasonably what so many women feel. Star

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/03/2017 15:45

Stonewall on the subject:

"Trans women have every right to have their identity and experiences respected too. They are women - just like you and me - and their sense of their gender is as engrained in their identity as yours or mine."

Where to bloody start??

ArcheryAnnie · 06/03/2017 15:50

I'm Jenni too.

(Have called the BBC comment line to say so, too - although not in these words...)

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/03/2017 16:12

The irony of this on the day that John fucking Humphrys says on Radio 4 that calling Jo Cox's killing was not a terrorist attack... where are all the men on Twitter calling for him to resign because he's a disgusting old ugly man? Yes, people are angry - but personal attacks like those directed at Murray very much less in evidence, and certainly none of them are 'misandrist' or ageist.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 06/03/2017 16:16

I'm Jenni Murray and I've emailed Women's Hour too. If she gets fired for this I'll be demanding my licence fee back.

MercyMyJewels · 06/03/2017 17:08

This is why Jenni needed to speak out. Thank you Jenni

I emailed women's hour. I'm Jenni Murray.

Is she aware of this thread?

Datun · 06/03/2017 17:33

Mercy

I hope, and assume, that Jenni Murray was fully aware of the kind of backlash she would provoke.

And as more and more of these creeps crawl out of the woodwork, people like the twits at Stonewall, Mermaids, EF, etc, will be seen to be aligning themselves with some really fucked up crazies.

I'm not sure that the establishment really has a true handle on the mentality underpinning this ideology. I truly don't want JM to get targeted, but the effect of it will be to show up the dark underbelly that informs the rest.

NewPuppyMum · 06/03/2017 17:34

I love JM and always switch off when it's Jane Garvey's day.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 06/03/2017 17:35

Actually, if you read that twitter account Mercy it reads like he is on Jenni's side and pointing out the venality of the TRAs' responses to Jenni's article. It's quite a good round up of what's out there, good and bad.

MercyMyJewels · 06/03/2017 17:51

No I got that. Sorry if it didn't come across that way

The BBC have issued an impartiality warning to JM. Whatever the fuck that means

here

Glitteryunicorn · 06/03/2017 18:10

IW is claiming fake news Hmm

HumphreyCobblers · 06/03/2017 18:11

What on earth is an impartiality warning?

2rebecca · 06/03/2017 18:14

I like the comment under the telegraph article the tweet linked to above is quoting from - "the BBC should do the same to their news teams"

hazeyjane · 06/03/2017 18:14

It is a warning that JM has broken the BBC tenet of bring impartial. Jeremy Paxman was issued one for comments regarding the Iraq war.

Scissorcisters · 06/03/2017 18:19

India Willoughby, labelled her a “dinosaur” that had misused her position for “spouting bile”.

soundsystem · 06/03/2017 18:21

Eugh, India Willoughby completely missing the point there on male privilege

Scissorcisters · 06/03/2017 18:21

Why haven't the BBC commented on the support she has received from Women? Is one trans voice really that powerful?

MercyMyJewels · 06/03/2017 18:23

India Willoughby also offered her a makeover "attitude and clothes" yesterday. Is that not the very definition of transplaining?

India deleted it

But I kept it Grin
