Apologies if there has already been a thread on this.

Bj strap

I actually don't know what to say about this.

This thread is years old and inactive. If you've found this page in search of Ann Summers products that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best Ann Summers sex toys useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ 💐

God that's horrible Sad

TheLittlestGoat · 20/03/2012 23:29

Apparently their mission statement is "To help every woman feel more sexy and have more fun".

I'm not sure how having your head restricted in that device is meant to make anything more sexy or fun for a woman.

bemybebe · 20/03/2012 23:30

Bloody hell, this is disgusting.

CovertTwinkle · 20/03/2012 23:33

I also never usually post on here but having had issues with sexual abuse from a partner in the past a shaft of fear ran through me looking at that. It is EXACTLY the sort of thing that causes people to be accepting of behaviour which is or is bordering on abuse. absolutely disgusting.

lesley33 · 20/03/2012 23:34

And it is worse that it is sold in such a mainstream shop as Ann Summers - legitimises abuse

MrsApplepants · 20/03/2012 23:36

What a vile object. Yuk

FrothyDragon · 20/03/2012 23:37

Actually feel physically sick looking at that... :(

CovertTwinkle · 20/03/2012 23:41

Exactly lesley. There's enough issue with raising awareness of DV as it is. Most people don't even understand that sexual and emotional abuse as part of DV. Im constantly livid about the ridiculous number of TV shows that show a woman being subjected to DV and it being brushed off with an apology and excuses. The battle I had in convincing friends (and family still don't believe me) goes to show that this kind of thing is the very last thing high street stores should be selling. esp. when girls of 18+ think its fashionable to shop at Ann Summers. Angry

MrsJasonBourne · 20/03/2012 23:42

Surely the only women that would actually buy that are women who enjoy a good sex life, like being dominated and want to please their partner, male or female? To anyone with a sense of humour it's just another bit of fun.

The women who get forced, gripped by their hair and held until they swallow or face having their hair ripped out or worse, are probably not going to bother buying it in the first place.

CakeMixture · 20/03/2012 23:44

That is horrible - just seems like a device for forcing someone to comply

Utterly vile

CovertTwinkle · 20/03/2012 23:45

MrsJasonBourne No but their partners will. Police toy handcuffs were banned in the refuge I stayed in because one girl would be sent into a panic attack at the sight of them. Things like this are like a flashing beacon to abusive men and I can guarantee that women in the situations you have described don't get a choice about the sort of sexual activity they are objected to.

Dworkin · 20/03/2012 23:47

This is vile and dilly you can shout as much as you like on this. Makes me want to puke and I can't help thinking is this now the object of BJs, that you throw up?

So pornified. I can't imagine me ever wanting to do this ever again.

duchesse · 20/03/2012 23:47

Have emailed that address but email was returned. I tried [email protected] instead but not that Vanessa Gold is on twitter.

Great post Covert.

MmeLindor. · 20/03/2012 23:51

Wow. That is .. words fail me.

AwkwardMary · 20/03/2012 23:56

Right....can some of you explain more to me please? About why bondage and bondage toys are bad and can't be enjoyed by Feminists? Are there any bondage toys that are allowable? What if it's a mutual and loving relationship with no emotional or physical abuse?

TheLittlestGoat · 21/03/2012 00:02

The product description nails it for me.

Holding a woman in place without messing her hair? I wonder what the focus group for the bj band was? [hmm|

Cant see a whole room of women enthusing over that product.

AwkwardMary · 21/03/2012 00:12

Isn't that just some dumb copywriter though? I write product descriptions for various websites and to be honest I don't put in an awful lot of thought...I'm told to be "light hearted" a lot and I spurt out some real nonsense.

Not that this makes the description any more bearable...it's really bad...but the founder of Ann Summers won't even have read it probably.

And the description isn't the product is it?

AwkwardMary · 21/03/2012 00:13

I really want to know what you all think and why bondage is bad...what if you're a Feminist and you enjoy it? And you're not in an abusive relationship and it cuts both ways?

TheSinglePringle · 21/03/2012 00:15

Some people will enjoy some don't. It is not something I would want to use but some woman will enjoy it

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 21/03/2012 00:18

I even find the website image quite upsetting. What a vile product.

Chirpychick2010 · 21/03/2012 00:21

Just seen and thought wtf. If my dh came home with that id use it to strangle him. How offensive is that to say the least.

AwkwardMary · 21/03/2012 00:22

I actually just googled "Feminist Sex Toys" and came up with a place called The Smitten Kitten who style themselves as "Educational Porn" purveyors.

They say that they aim to educate about sex and to encourage healthy experimentation...they sell this

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/03/2012 00:24

It should be on some sort of S/M site, not in Anne Summers.
Agree, vile.
