What do you cook for the people you love? Asked this question, 100 of Britain's food heroes shared their most beloved recipes to make this extraordinary cookbook, a perfect gift for Mother's Day.

In The Really Quite Good British Cookbook, Nigella Lawson divulges how to bake her Chocolate Guinness Cake, Rick Stein fries up Shrimp & Dill Fritters with Ouzo, and Yotam Ottolenghi opts to serve Pea & Mint Croquettes. These are just a few of the incredible recipes provided by the best and brightest on the British food scene, including chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Delia Smith, James Martin, Nigel Slater, Thomasina Miers, Marco Pierre White, Claudia Roden and more.

Compiled by award-winning food editor and author William Sitwell, The Really Quite Good British Cookbook is a celebration of the breadth, creativity and richness of Britain's unique food culture.

Maybe it's a bit boring, but I always cook a sunday roast for the people I love, a nice chicken with all the trimmings

windowmouse · 20/03/2017 16:03

My favourite is chicken fajitas plus nachos, I love cooking it for my family

debbiew21 · 20/03/2017 17:22

Stews and casseroles in the slow cooker, pizza and pasta, vegetable soup, a mean roast dinner and plenty of homemade bread, cakes and pasties.

angiehoggett · 21/03/2017 08:32

My fave meal to cook is mince and dumplings, all the family love it and it's such a warming winter dish.

lesley37 · 21/03/2017 10:28

My family love my cottage pie, if I say I am making one they all flock round. A simple dish made with love.

izbiz1988 · 21/03/2017 19:35

I love to cook comfort food for my loved ones - so pasta bakes with meatballs and loads of cheese, roast dinners with all of the trimmings, etc etc. I don't do anything by halves either!

Loreleigh · 22/03/2017 15:14

My better half loves roast dinners with all the trimmings so I tend to cook these regularly as well as Christmas dinners with extra treats. I'll make nice beef, lamb or chicken stews with herby dumplings and served with fresh crusty bread for comfort food when he's feeling poorly. The sweet treats I cook for him and for friends are homemade cookies and cakes, plus fruit crumbles and pies. Steak dinners with lattice potatoes, fresh corn on the cob, broccoli, peas, mushrooms, egg etc he likes with peppercorn sauce so that is something I like to make him as a treat.

My family love this chicken recipe - 'poulet bonne femme' - from Diana Henry's 'A Bird in Hand' cookbook! Lemon drizzle cake or banana loaf popular too!!

amapola · 24/03/2017 08:39

Beef casserole in winter, roast lamb in spring, paella in summer

badgermum · 25/03/2017 21:04

Roast chicken dinner is the most popular meal I make for my family and they love it served with crunchy roast potatoes, carrots, peas and cauliflower cheese and gravy, My homemade Dorset Apple cake is the most popular bake I make

GrooveHeart · 29/03/2017 21:23

I like good, honest home cooked food like cottage pie or toad in the hole

dannydog1 · 30/03/2017 08:39

Cottage Pie

ha2el · 01/04/2017 15:55

Paella is always on the menu for a loved one's gathering.

stefalfie11 · 01/04/2017 17:33

My answer has to be a roast beef dinner -its a firm favourite in my household

grannybiker · 01/04/2017 18:36

Mr GB thinks I'm a domestic goddess when he comes in from work and the house is filled with the scent of soup bubbling away in the slow cooker. Makes me feel all warm inside as he tucks in....
(Shhhhh, nobody tell him just how easy it is to chuck some veggies in with some stock then sit in the conservatory with my book, LMAO!)

SofiePendragon · 01/04/2017 18:52

I love to cook a pie for dinner for my family - lots of variations, green curry, Mediterranean vegetables, steak and ale.

I heard the recipe for tikka masala pie from this book in the week and would love to give that a try!

Doodygirl2009 · 02/04/2017 12:17

I cook whatever they want, but I enjoy to cook us a homemade curry with home made naan breads

alison991 · 02/04/2017 17:09

A sunday roast is always a nice one to sit down to with the family. That and cake

EmNix · 02/04/2017 19:27

A chicken and vegetable pesto pasta. Tastes great. Full of veg.

bugzie92 · 02/04/2017 20:17

I love cooking home made hearty meals. We use as much veg as possible in our meals, to make sure our 4 year old is getting all the nutrients and vitamins he needs! we love meals like pasta bake, curries, casseroles, risottos and nice salads. The most important thing to me is ensuring my son eats well and healthy, so we avoid as much jars etc as we can.

twinkle1987 · 03/04/2017 16:40

Japanese food - in particular, Katsu curry and Japanese curry.

princesssmitheee · 03/04/2017 17:13

mumpetuk1 · 03/04/2017 20:47

My Beef Wellington takes ages to make from scratch but my kids love it

whitbyranger · 04/04/2017 07:29

I prefer to cook vegetarian dishes for my family, although only my daughter and myself are vegetarian. I love to cook chills, curries and soups.
