What do you cook for the people you love? Asked this question, 100 of Britain's food heroes shared their most beloved recipes to make this extraordinary cookbook, a perfect gift for Mother's Day.

In The Really Quite Good British Cookbook, Nigella Lawson divulges how to bake her Chocolate Guinness Cake, Rick Stein fries up Shrimp & Dill Fritters with Ouzo, and Yotam Ottolenghi opts to serve Pea & Mint Croquettes. These are just a few of the incredible recipes provided by the best and brightest on the British food scene, including chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Delia Smith, James Martin, Nigel Slater, Thomasina Miers, Marco Pierre White, Claudia Roden and more.

Compiled by award-winning food editor and author William Sitwell, The Really Quite Good British Cookbook is a celebration of the breadth, creativity and richness of Britain's unique food culture.

Mostly Italian recipes! Risottos, home made pasta, tiramisu and pizzas. Italian food is not only my favourite but the best I can prepare.

Moggy12 · 14/03/2017 09:18

A hearty red wine beef casserole

emmacale123 · 14/03/2017 09:45

I cook a breast of duck in a rich plum sauce on a bed of creamy mash with green beans and lots of plum sauce. It's so so yummy!

Nanalou · 14/03/2017 09:51

My husband ' s absolute favorite is steak and kidney pie, followed by apple crumble and custard, my daughter and I cook this for him every Father's Day!

Jux · 14/03/2017 09:53

Boodle's Fool. I don't do it very often as it's quite rich. My gm was given the recipe by the chef at Boodle's, and it's come down the matriarchal line since then (that only means to my mum and then to me, but it sounds good!).

What don't I cook? Already this morning I've done 48 banana and choc chip muffins and a lasagna plus a healthy eating training lasagna with sweet pots instead of pasta!>

I love cooking my grand mothers Maltese pasta dishes for my family...their favourites being Timpana and Imqarrun ....not suitable for diary intolerant or lettuce nibblers ;)

helly27 · 14/03/2017 10:40

A good old roast chicken brings the whole family together

hiddenmichelle · 14/03/2017 10:48

spaghetti bolognese - my husband loves it - and even though I usually do too much. I always say leave it if its too much. He always says it is never enough!

AngelwingsPetlamb · 14/03/2017 10:50

Very tricky in our household to cook something that everyone will be able to eat as it has to be gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian. So not the easiest start. However, vegetable chilli with brown rice and nachos seems to fit the bil and is always appreciated.

Toad in the hole gets a very enthusiastic reception from my boys, big and small. Pancakes for breakfast on their birthdays.

headsy12 · 14/03/2017 11:27

The meal my kids love the most is lasagne, but I branched out this weekend and made a chicken and sweet potato korma, but unfortunately forgot to put the baby spinach in at the end. Will try this again as it was very tasty. This is the pudding I made. #bakeamillion As you can see my son cut the cake up and had a nibble.

I really love cooking so when I've got a bit of time on my hands I love to make us a meze-type dinner that everyone can dive in and help themselves to, so it's making hummus to go with pitta bread and veg sticks, olives, making spanokipita, etc.

NauticalDisaster · 14/03/2017 12:16

I love to cook Italian feasts! Usually a big lasagna with side salad and garlic bread. My DC won't eat it but my family loves it!

meggysar · 14/03/2017 12:29

I always make cakes for the important people in my life because they all have a sweet tooth!

glennamy · 14/03/2017 12:32

I love cooking stews, roasts, soups & cakes for all the family! :)

mazgoli · 14/03/2017 12:36

If it's a special family occasion I cook Persian food - everyone likes that. DH is from Iran and our children and their spouses all love the delicious stews and rice dishes. But generally speaking I like to try as many different dishes from as many different cuisines as I can.

Girondella · 14/03/2017 12:41

What my family really, really love is that old favourite, spaghetti bolognaise

Annieg1234 · 14/03/2017 13:01
