In The Really Quite Good British Cookbook, Nigella Lawson divulges how to bake her Chocolate Guinness Cake, Rick Stein fries up Shrimp & Dill Fritters with Ouzo, and Yotam Ottolenghi opts to serve Pea & Mint Croquettes. These are just a few of the incredible recipes provided by the best and brightest on the British food scene, including chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Delia Smith, James Martin, Nigel Slater, Thomasina Miers, Marco Pierre White, Claudia Roden and more.

Compiled by award-winning food editor and author William Sitwell, The Really Quite Good British Cookbook is a celebration of the breadth, creativity and richness of Britain's unique food culture.

I love to cook for my dh as he really appreciates it. Favourite is steak with peppercorn sauce. Chips, garlic mushrooms. Prawn cocktail to start. X

scarrick87 · 13/03/2017 20:35

It has to be a roast dinner - always a favourite in our house although not often I can do it with working 8 hours on a Sunday

StickChildNumberTwo · 13/03/2017 20:36

Chocolate cake! Or Brownies. I don't bake very often nowadays, so like to make it special when I do.

Pigeonpea · 13/03/2017 20:42

Thai curry - mild, so we can all eat it. It's clean, full of veggies and super tasty.

Rae1000 · 13/03/2017 20:44

I cook so many dishes. The usuals, spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, chilli etc & more "exotic" ones like paella

blogmumjd · 13/03/2017 20:55

Roast chicken or Toad in the Hole or pasta dishes are what all the family enjoy. And I love making all of those

Amaksy · 13/03/2017 21:12

Its dessert - apple crumble and custard. its amazing, good for warm and hot months (substituting custard for ice cream) and even better with more than a dash of cinnamon.

Fleur78 · 13/03/2017 21:23

My family's favourite meal of all is fajitas.
But probably slightly different to most households, as it consists of loads of little bowls with everybody's favourite bits to add. My daughter goes mad for purple beans, and my son can't get enough of his tamed jalapeños.

cambridgemumof4 · 13/03/2017 21:54

Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup - they all love it!

glenka · 13/03/2017 21:54

A roast dinner because it always brings our family together.

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, vegetables and gravy, no artificial flavours just good plain cooking from the heart for those I love.

Athlen · 13/03/2017 23:47

I cook stir-fry and pot stickers.

glasgow1975 · 14/03/2017 00:30

I make Spanokopita, as it looks amazing, when in reality it's easy peasy scrunched frozen pastry 😉

winterpark · 14/03/2017 06:18

I love to cook a roast for my family every Sunday :)

hdh747 · 14/03/2017 06:59

I cook all sorts of things. I'm quite an experimental cook so when quizzed about what's for dinner the answer is often 'concoction number xxx.' Family favourites are roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with all the trimmings, fish pie, meatballs with courgetti and curries. For desserts our favourites are fruit pies and crumbles (especially bilberry when they are in season) and Nigella's chocolate olive oil cake.

TracyKNixon · 14/03/2017 07:06

I love to cook traditional and wholesome family meals such as a beef Sunday dinner, chicken stew or cottage pie.

Wilma55 · 14/03/2017 07:07

Victoria sponge cake. A real treat as I rarely bake.

wjanice121 · 14/03/2017 07:24

My family's fave dish is beef bourguignon

rain790 · 14/03/2017 07:56

Growing up in a country where we were expats, my family was always exposed to every sort of cuisine. So we love everything from everywhere!
Now that I've moved away I try to recreate something different every now and then for my DH who has very specific dietary preferences. I've made Sri Lankan milk rice, Malaysian Onde onde, Russian Honey cake, Italian lasagna, Chinese pork belly and so many more.
It's a true achievement when I can get him to try different cuisines but stick to his very rigid rules.

Elizasmum02 · 14/03/2017 08:01

we have so many favourite dishes, my signature chorizo spinach and chick pea soup goes down a treat!

Bellroyd · 14/03/2017 08:19

I cook something in the slow cooker for the people I love. There's something very comforting about a lovely stew.

Narnianescape · 14/03/2017 08:28

I tend to cook homely foods like lasagna and fajitas.

vickyg88 · 14/03/2017 08:55

I love to cook homemade lasagna and garlic bread. Everyone loves it, especially the smell whilst it's in the oven :)
