Afternoon peeps. Like the new name QT. Pushy mothers - you get to use resistance bands rather than babies for the resistance work so slightly fairer than the one you went on

Quick checkin to ensure I dont fall into the biscuit tin today - work being even more hellish than I thought possible but so far have kept strong - skinny latte and porridge with yoghurt for breakfast at 11 and some chicken and beans just now.

BudaisintheZONE · 15/06/2010 15:54

Back from HRH Ambassador's residence. Was good. Passed up the sandwiches and just had cake!! Had a mini scone, mini meringue, mini bit of fruitcake and a sliver of the Victoria Sponge. Everything was in bite size bits except the sponge and I managed to cut myself a sliver when the waiter was refilling someone else's tea. He was supposed to be cutting but was cutting huge pieces.

As punishment for cake eating I have come home to find a lizard in my lounge. Yes. A lizard. About 8 inches long. Great. And yes. DH is away. Dog is useless. Sigh.

Did remind me of a funny story though. Shell Oil wife (in my next expat wife life I want to be reincarnated as an oil wife) moves to Borneo with husband. On day of move into their house husband is of course away. Wife is upstairs next morning sorting out having opened doors into garden. She comes down to find a lizard in her lounge. Panics and rings husband's office. Is told not to worry that they eat the bugs and will live happily behind her pictures etc and chase each other around the walls and ceiling. Wife not convinced but says ok. An hour later rings again totally panicked and demands a car to take her to the airport unless someone comes over to get rid of the lizard. Deep sign on phone but they send someone over. Who finds an 8 FOOT long monitor lizard in the lounge!!!!! The joys of expat living!!!

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 16:27

at 8 folot monitor lizard, brilliant.

Bet DS is overjoyed at a lizard wandering around, I am confused though, are you in Hungary or the jungles of africa?!

Girls being 'trying' todya, probably becasue dd2 got up ridiculously early and so is exhausted, early tea I think. She is lying on me trying to fall asleep and I daren't let her, will bugger up my evening.
Want to either shred or do billy blanks ab thing tonight. AM bored with shred but figure if I mix it up with billy then it will be just as effective. it's all exercise

had another sausage, don't knwo what is for tea, probably mackerel and cream cheese ryvitas and soup once dd's are in bed.

BudaisintheZONE · 15/06/2010 16:32

I am indeed in Hungary but we have lizards here too. Have no idea where they go in minus 15 winters but they live in the bricks in our house in summers. Usually outside! Have no idea where sodding thing is now. Under sofa presumably.

I remember those nightmare late afternoons trying desperately to keep DS awake so he wouldn't have an afternoon nap. Good luck!

Can I just say you are fab at exercising late in day? If I don't do it in morning I never do it.

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 16:32

Oops, forgot to say well done on non biffage buda!

AM loving this name, was a horse racing on my birthday and just is perfect for MN time, can't believe it's not taken!

BudaisintheZONE · 15/06/2010 16:39

It is a good name. But still makes me think of Quality Street.

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 16:42

Yes, that may be an issue...

Themasterandmargaritas · 15/06/2010 17:01

Hey qualitystreet, save the purple ones for me

I'm not bowing to nobody, highlordoverlordprincess or just plain cyb.

I love the monitor lizard story. We had one once living under our house in Tanzania. He was sweet. The snakes that came into the house were not.

please don't turn into an Oil Wife. It would be biffage carnage. I wouldn't respect you ever again.

BudaisintheZONE · 15/06/2010 17:26

Oh I dunno TMAM. Shell oil wives in Bangkok got an increase in their hardship allowance when the traffic got a bit worse!

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 17:58

Bleurgh, purple ones ming

I feel a bit left out that the worst I get are crane flies

tostaky · 15/06/2010 20:04

Well done on the cake front Buda!!!
what do you do to know so many VIP???

been really good today and i was thinking about buying a slice of delicious homemade polenta cake in the cafe near the playground but I resisted!! yay me!
ive also made positive steps to sort out my finances so im feeling quite proud of myself today! Plus i had a nice afternoon at the playground with a friend and her new baby.
I made green beans for tea and DS ate them as if they were fries! Im quite proud of myself that he has a healthy taste!

QT - im with you on not eating processed food. it doesnt taste great anyway! And also the more processed food you'll eat, the more health related problems you'll have in later life (and i want to be one of those bouncy grandma, always on the go!!)

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 20:31

Speaking of not eating processed food, I just biffed a large bag of handbaked crisps.

Whan they say handbaked, wtf do they mean anywya?

Ugh. Am a twat. and can't exercise as can barely fucking walk thanks to buggering up my knee.

dinkystinky · 15/06/2010 20:54

Sounds like you've had a great day Tostaky. Lovely that your DS likes green beans.

Oh no QT - how did you bugger up your knee?

Did circuits class this morning before enduring the day form hell in the office, which will just be more of the same tomorrow I guess (involving a lovely many hour meeting starting at midday - delightful). Have avoided the biscuit tin today - hurrah - but biffed a pack of jelly beans (only 4 WW points though so not too awful) and had a nice healthy dinner of chinese pork and asparagus stirfry with a tiny bit of rice.

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 21:00

Well done you too on avoiding biffage.

I am not sure how I buggered up my knee, DD2 is a bit under teh weather so when I was in Aldi I strapped her on my back, and considering she is 2.8 it offbalances me a bit, I just turned a corner and it went. Had to put her down (which did not go down well)

And I still haven't had my appletiser!

dinkystinky · 15/06/2010 21:04

Ooh that sounds painful QT. Do you have any aspirin or ibuprofen - if so, take a couple of those and elevate and rest that knee as much as possible. Do you have any knee supports - might help with general walking around - and just rest it. Hopefully will feel better soon. Hope the girls are asleep now and you get a break.

duckyfuzz · 15/06/2010 21:04

evenign ladies, good day apart from the cream scone at lunchtime will gym tomorrow and thurs to work it off

stress at work, am off to start a thread for advice and try to resist my usual comfort eating/drinking to get me through

QualityTime · 15/06/2010 22:57

I have profen somewhwre, will hobble into kitchen to get it.....

CheeeseOnToast · 16/06/2010 08:16

Morning ladies. ouch QT, knee sounds painful. Without sounding off, are you a namechanger? Are you JB?

I did spin class on Monday night and will go to gym in lunch break today. Yesterday was slightly biff-tastic - i had a baguette from Pret again but decided that was definitely the last one - but not too bad. Had an odd dinner as using up bits - had cold roast chicken thigh, tortellini, wilted spinach and steamed corn on the cob. And a tiny glass of red wine.

Need to get ready for work, happy zoning everyone

BudaisintheZONE · 16/06/2010 08:29

Hope knee better today QT.

Hi Cheeese. Yes QT was JB. This namechanging is confusing isn't it?

Sodding well raining here and so dark I have all lights on. And I keep losing my internet connection.

Dinner out last night. Had taleggio cheese wrapped in bacon with a ruccola and pear and walnut salad to start. Then had breast of chicken with veg in a basil sauce. No bread. No potatoes. No dessert. Had fizz and wine. Had headache this morning!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 16/06/2010 08:46

Just checking in to say my 12 week scan on monday went well and we have a viable baby in there!

And the best thing is, the midwife made me go and weigh myself for booking in, and I only seem to have put on 4 lb. Clearly the baby is eating the puddings, crisps and other verboten substances for me, because I have NOT been good. Must get back on the Healthy Pregnant Lady regime pronto.

Hope everyone's ok and looking stunning and slim in summer clothes!

dinkystinky · 16/06/2010 09:31

Morning Cheese - sounds like you're still enjoying the gym. Pret - good choices are soup, salads (no dressings) and edamame beans and jelly pots - all else to be eaten on occasion only unless you want to start ressembling a pret baguette (in shape and lard content) Had to snort on my way in to work today as passed a business man dad and three teenage daughters - Dad "Savannah, Clarissa, Grace - do you want a sandwich from Pret for lunch?" Girls "No - we want Greggs dad"

Reshape - lovely to see you on and great that your little baby is coming along nicely. Congrats on the controlled weight gain so far

Shitola day from hell heading in my direction now - will involve crappy law firm sandwiches and v long dull boring meetings with lots of yelling. Joy, joy, joy. Happy zoning one and all.

CheeeseOnToast · 16/06/2010 10:06

ah hah, I thought so! Hi QT!

Haven't been on thread v much recently, I am still zoning just v busy in my 'new' job (which I started in May). It's only a temp contract, ends in August, so I need to make a good impression. This will be the first year that DP will not have a summer hol together since we met, due to work and money situations, and it seems every single one of my friends are just about to jet off on amazing holidays.

nice to see you Reshape, and as dinky says, well done on the controlled weight gain! If I got pg I think I'd just go wild!

dinks, hope your day isn't as dreadful as you're expecting. And I lol'd at your 'Pret? No, GREGGS!' story! Yes I do want to avoid looking like a baguette, must try harder. It's my second baguette in ten days, so not too bad - and it's the only bread I eat. But I will desist from now on.

Weird gym question - do any of you record the exercises you're shown by the personal trainers? How do you record them? I've had two PT sessions now, of my three free ones, and I've been shown so many exercises but I'm struggling to remember them. They don't have handouts with directions or anything...

dinkystinky · 16/06/2010 10:36

Cheese - you can ask your trainer to suggest a programme for you (free gym programmes should be offered by trainers in good gyms anyway). Otherwise you can get exercise training diaries you can record the programme in or just write down (on your way home) what you did in the session (e.g. 10 min warm up, plank, side plank, reverse lunges, squats with weights, press ups, fly on exercise ball, bicycle, crunch, stretches).

tostaky · 16/06/2010 13:38

hi!
just been to pushy mum and what i like best is that it is outside... it is not great but it is good but still undecided whether to go weekly... i mean i could do that on my own...
also since im the NCT co-ordinator for my area i was thinking about sending out an email to all the mums in my area and maybe we could do something like pushy mum but for free and somewhere closer to my place... not sure about how / who will lead the "class" if i do that though... also not sure about the attendance, i suppose bc it will be informal so people will say they come and wont etc..

other than that - i have been in the zone today, had an apple and a fat free yogurt for breakie and about to have a small portion of pasta for lunch! yes i need proteins , but im planning pork with cauliflower tonight.

tostaky · 16/06/2010 13:47

does a handful of nuts counts towards a portion of proteins?
