Ta-da!

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 23/06/2010 21:35

Hair is a sleek bob with a long fringe - love it but my grey hairs are standing out rather with the new hairstyle so may well need to start doing the hair dye thing soon...

Dukes- weirdly hot weather generally causes water retention, as does AF so bet you'll feel better and less squidgy this time next week.

Chicken cacciatore sounds lovely Aitch. Have rounded off a day of biffing with mackerel pate on rye bread and cherries - so semi virtuous end to a bifftastic day. On plus side at least my hang over has finally passed.

cornsilk5793 · 23/06/2010 21:38

I'm loving the water retention theory.I definitely feel squidgy - my boobs have grown.
I have been biffing lately and need to refind the zone.

BudaisintheZONE · 24/06/2010 10:46

Dinky - hair sounds nice.

Aitch - so does chicken!

cornsilk - welcome back. Get back in that zone woman!

Weighed this morning and even with biffing it's looking good for tomorrow. A great motivator to really stay in zone today. And exercise. Have done nothing much this week.

Breakfast was muesli and blueberries. Went to have manicure and pedicure and came back starving so just had a slice of rye bread with peanut butter and a banana and some green tea.

Need to go to Tesco and walk dog. Wondering which to do first.

DH wants BBQ tonight. Think I will do sausages and burgers for him and DS and I will have salmon and salad.

Where IS everybody?

CheeeseOnToast · 24/06/2010 10:58

hiya

i'm also feeling squidgy, pleasing to think it might be due to the weather I've been quite good lately though. My lunches at work have mostly been cottage cheese on wholemeal crackers with apples and plums. Don't feel as much of a need to biff when it's hot. ONly slightly biff items i had yesterday were an ice lolly while watching footie (a ribena ice thing which I woofed v quickly, then noticed it only had 69 cals, so not bad at all really)

breakfast lately has been special k, i know thats not great but it's all the shop had.

will be doing tacos for dinner tonight, spicy mince, lettuce, grated cheese and taco shells. I will overload on lettuce and do a tomato salad to go with, i think.

well done aitch and everyone else for whom the weigh-in is looking good tomorrow! I've been drinking lots of water this week and virtually no alcohol so hopefulyl tomorrow will be good for me, too.

Aitch · 24/06/2010 11:13

weighed self first thing, 10 10 and three quarters, yay. went for another wee, stepped on scales before going into the shower and hey bingo, 10 11 and a half. i think my scales are a bit wack.

MountTheFairy · 24/06/2010 12:31

Hello all,

Newbie here, and I would like to ask for some advice, if that is ok? I am looking for a regime to follow. I am 12 stone 10 and 5ft 7. Would like to loose 3 stone, and NEED to loose 2. I have yo-yoed before, and know I can loose weight in a self-styled manner. But am also contemplating Slimming World (have posted a note on that thread too).

So I was wondering what is everyone following and what seems to be working for people. My main concern is how time consumnig it is, and I also want to get fit. I am doing no exercise at the moment! I would loove to lose at least 1 stone quickly as I feel SO lardy and have an appointment at a fertility clinic in a months time, and the GP had warned me they won't do much unless I am at perfect BMI.

Ok, I am babbling as usual. Sorry! But thank you for listening (reading).

dinkystinky · 24/06/2010 12:58

Afternoon all and welcome MTF. I'd suggest a structure regime which helps you focus on what you eat and how you cook it, and the benefits of exercise - so its a life style change which will stand you in good stead for life (and your pregnancy in the future ). Something like WW might be just up your street. Fairhaired on this thread is a slimming world consultant so she may well be on to explain more about that regime for you.

If you want to improve your fertility, taking up exercise would be a really good thing for you to do. Do you work out at all? Member of a gym? What sports do you like doing? Find something you like and stick to it and it will help with weight loss, in conjunction with a weight loss eating regime.

Also drink lots and lots of water and cut down on the booze (great for instantly losing abit of weight as you're cutting empty calories).

Aitch · 24/06/2010 13:12

look at what you are eating now, what are the things you absolutely cannot live without?
in my case it was bread and pasta, gave them up as an experiment and have lost a stone and a half since march without feeling deprived.

BudaisintheZONE · 24/06/2010 14:02

Hi MTF - welcome!

I gave up 'crap' carbs. Anything made with flour or sugar basically. Cuts out a LOT of crap! I eat healthy carbs for breakfast - porridge or granola with fruit usually. I have one slice of rye bread a day. Eat lots of soup and salads. Lots of pulses and beans. Snacks are natural yoghurt (I love Activia as it is really creamy), fruit, nuts, oatcakes with hummus or low fat philadelphia. I have so much more energy. Don't feel in any way deprived. Feel I am eating healthily most of the time so don't feel TOO guilty about any treats. And I have lost over a stone. Still have 5 to go mind you!

Aitch · 24/06/2010 14:30

although am having a biff day today as dh has just bought chocolates etc.

QualityTime · 24/06/2010 15:54

Hi all, glad to hear you are all doing well, period and weather been making me squidgey and yuck but it's all over now!
(Apologies in advance, this may get loud.)

'Day off' today, DD1 in school, DD2 in playgroup, alpen and coffee for breakfast, dropped DD's off, went for short run (2 miles, forgot to wee when I dropped dd2 off, would NOT have made it furtehr) and then did 10 minute stretch dvd.
Weighed myself after shower and drying hair
15 STONE 7

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFUCKINGHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

sorry. I knew that periodyuck had stopped me losing last week but hadn't realised it was that much.
I know weigh in is tomorrow but I am not jinxing it

AND a friend came round and said my scales weigh heavy for ehr

Hi MTF, please excuse my hysteria, started at 17st4 a few months ago. I cut all carbs apart from porridge or muesli, had salad with lots of proeitn or home made soup for lunch and then whatever Dh and DD's have for tea with stir fry or roast veg instead of potatoes.
That kick started me, I now have a bit of bread or potato along wiht meals but can stop at a mouthful, I do biff out occasionally but then get back on track rather than giving up!

Agree with exercise helping massively. I try to run twice a week but do some form of exercise at least 5 times a week, whetehr it is shred dvd or cross trainer or another dvd (i have shedloads)

BudaisintheZONE · 24/06/2010 16:22

WoooHooooo QT!!!!! Way to go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aitch · 24/06/2010 17:18

oh gosh, QT, i really am thrilled for you, that is fantastic!

DukesOfTripHazard · 24/06/2010 19:01

Excellent QT. You are so no phoning it in.

Feel loads better today and got some new ideas for salad (feel like a bit of a nob saying that!) will post them.

QualityTime · 24/06/2010 19:23

Thank you, thank you (bows graciously)

I do honestly think it is because I have relaxed a bit about it as well, I had those mini cheddars but then had a pint of water after each one to couteract it, instead of thinking 'fuck it, I may as well have a biscuit'
This week has been easy to be good though, we are really brassics so no treats at all, next week might be a leetle harder as it's our rich week
Curry with stir fry and small naan for tea. got some cider in the freezer I have been saving as it is pear I bought it by accident but needs must.

Salad ideas great, am off food shopping tomorrow so post tonight pretty please?

Also (and this is incredibly selfish) I can't post on ym phone as the thread is too big, do we need a new one as weigh in is tomorrow?

Aitch · 24/06/2010 20:11

not looking forward to weigh in, had spaghetti alle vongole and ice cream for tea, and forgot to mention that lunch was half a dish of cold apple crumble. it was dd1's last day at nursery today...

QualityTime · 24/06/2010 20:24

Oh god yes, you break up early in scotland don't you? Is she starting big school in september? So is DD1, we have a school meeting in a few weeks about stuff. She's only a baby still!

Aitch · 24/06/2010 20:31

ahem. you break up late, i think you'll find. we break up at the perfect time to still get some cheap hols. har.

dd1 won't be 5 until dec. it's too young. if she'd been born two weeks later (ie on her sodding due date) she would have been deferred.

dinkystinky · 24/06/2010 20:33

Well done QT - that's brilliant stuff.

Aitch - aah, I know I'll be sobbing when DS1 starts in reception in September (and he only just turned 4 at the end of April - they dont do deferred entries round here). On days like today you're allowed to biff.

Aitch · 24/06/2010 20:36

i know we're lucky here, they are at least a bit civilised in this regard. the bad thing about deferred entries, though, is that dd1 will more than likely have children in her class who are all but a year older than her.

QualityTime · 24/06/2010 20:37

re hols.

DD1 won't be 5 until February I anticipate much comfort biffing. And then I have to start the whole school lunch palaver!

That's weird the 3 of us having full time school starters at the same time, anyone else?

Aitch · 24/06/2010 20:49

and her nursery have been utterly magnificent with her, i must say. och, i'm not so very bothered about the age thing, i do think she'll be fine, it's just been a real shock for me that my baby is old enough to go to school. it's me who's not coping, she's excited about it.

DukesOfTripHazard · 24/06/2010 20:51

SALADS:
tuna, mixed beans, orange, cashews, french dressing.

brown rice, sweetcorn, kidney beans, herbs.

grated carrot, sultanas, orange and pumpkin seeds with honey and mustard dressing.

apple, celery, beans, chopped walnuts.

avocado, red grapefruit, grated ginger and caraway seeds.

Don't forget the southwestern style salad (Buda's?
2 sweetcorn
400g can black beans , drained and rinsed
1 avocado , cut into chunks
200g cherry tomatoes , halved
4 spring onions , roughly chopped
100g feta cheese , crumbled
lime wedges, to serve (optional)

FOR THE DRESSING1 tsp ground cumin
1 tbsp chipotle Tabasco sauce (use regular Tabasco if you can't find this)
juice and zest 2 limes
1 tbsp sherry vinegar
2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

CheeeseOnToast · 24/06/2010 22:43

Oo-er, very exotic salads Dukes! I like the sound of the brown rice one.

I seem to have rather foolishly let it all go wrong in the last six hours. I ate a 'slim' baguette from Pret for lunch, some bits of crayfish from my friend's crayfish salad that she didn't want, then I had an elderflower jelly with raspberries in. Then in the afternoon I had 80 cals worth of crackers, two apples, a small slab of chocolate. Then dinner was three burritos, so just a corn wrap, mince (not cooked in oil), chillis, tomato paste kidney beans seasoning, and then wrapped up with lettuce and tomato.

And THEN I had a Cadbury choc ice on a stick thing that DP brought me home. It would have been rude to refuse

God please don't let it ruin the scales tomorrow

I just want to stop eating so much, goddamnit , why is it so hard?
